Free Pick: Toronto vs. Brooklyn NBA Lines & Handicapping Preview

NBA: Raptors vs Nets Predictions

NBA basketball betting sees the Toronto Raptors taking on the Brooklyn Nets on Friday April 3 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Cappers Picks provides complimentary handicapping picks all NBA season long.

There is a nice rivalry between these two teams from last year’s playoffs. Toronto has a nice shot to make it hard for them to qualify again this season on Friday night.

Toronto

The Raptors may not be quite as impressive as they were earlier in the season but they have won three in a row, all covers too. This is a tough team to handicap, especially with point guard Kyle Lowry being rested for the playoffs.

They are definitely in a softer part of their schedule which also makes it tough to gauge the true level of the team. One thing for certain is that when they Brooklyn the games tend to be pretty close and intense.

This season Toronto is up 2-1.

With Lowry out of the lineup DeMar DeRozan has been on a tear. He dropped 42 points on Houston the other night, a career high, and his rebounding has been up too with three double-digit board games in the last 10.

I really do think the Raptors are best when he is the top scoring option. It is also a good sign that they have been getting more from mercurial wing Terrence Ross. They need his long distance shooting and defense.

Brooklyn

The Nets are only a half game above that cutline so this game is much more meaningful to them than for the Raptors.

They have been playing well with 5 wins in a row and 7 of 8 but to be frank I am not sure where it is all coming from.

The club is still well below .500 but when you look at them next to the teams they are competing with – Boston, Miami, Charlotte, Indiana – there is no reason they can’t make the playoffs.

They might even move all the way up to 6th if they maintain their hot play.

On nights when Deron Williams plays like the elite point guard he used to be it is easy to see why the Nets can compete.

It may only come in flashes but he can still make the game easier for the likes of Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez.

I don’t like the Nets depth at all but their starters can compete. They should definitely be up for this important game against the team they eliminated from the playoffs last season.

Someone’s winning streak is going to end. I am backing the visiting dogs.

Maybe I shouldn’t get caught up with emotion around my home team but I can’t help it.
