NBA: T-Wolves vs Celtics Predictions

NBA  betting action sees the Minnesota Timberwolves taking on the Boston Celtics on Friday December 19 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.  Cappers Picks provides free NBA handicapping tips all season long.

Both of these teams are pretty bad so it won’t be much of a show when they meet on Friday night.

Might be a chance to preview some players for future fantasy use.

Minnesota

When the T-Wolves dealt Kevin Love for a package of kids it was clear they were not interested in winning this season…and they aren’t.

[dfads params=’groups=63742&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

They have just one of their last 11 games and are 2-9 on the road so I am not holding out much hope that they are going to stroll into the Garden and get a victory.

This team is measuring progress quarter by quarter and sometimes it looks alright but sometimes they look barely better than Philadelphia. This team is so very young.

Minnesota is missing their top scorer Kevin Martin and top playmaker Ricky Rubio.

On a team that was going to be limited regardless it has forced a lot of kids to see even more action.

[dfads params=’groups=63727&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

As a result this team is one of the least efficient offensive teams in the league, partly because they don’t know the difference between a good shot and a bad one and also because they just don’t have good shooters.

It is hard to blow by NBA defenses with regularity when you can’t make shots.

Boston

The Celtics have more experienced players but they are not much further along in terms of development than Minnesota.

However, they just might rack up a decent win total because they seem to have a knack for besting the poor teams in the league as evidenced by back to back wins over Philadelphia and Orlando heading into this one.

Similar to Minnesota the Celtics are an odd mashup of players.

They can score though they are 6th in the league at 104ppg.

Even though his shot has never really developed Rajon Rondo is still one of the more productive players in the league.

This year he is averaging 8 points, 11 assists and a staggering 7 rebounds per game – second on the team. Boston is getting some nice development from its tallest pieces as both Kelly Olynyk and Tyler Zeller are shooting better than 52% from the field.

Neither are anchors in the paint but they contribute.

NBA Handicapping Trends:

  • Under is 4-0 in Timberwolves last 4 games following a SU loss of more than 10 points.
  • Timberwolves are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Over is 8-1 in Timberwolves last 9 Friday games.
  • Celtics are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a S.U. win.
  • Celtics are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Celtics are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS win.
  • Over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings in Boston.
  • Under is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.

NBA Prediction:  Boston -7.5

The Celtics can score and in this game that will be enough to get the win and cover in the process.

4* FREE NBA Score prediction:  Boston 105 – Minnesota 95

I am never high on backing a team with a losing record with so many points to cover but this is a fair shot.
