The Hornets are looking to catch Miami.

Miami

The Heat played last night losing at home against a resurgent Oklahoma City team.

In addition to the loss the game had its casualties as Hassan Whiteside and Luol Deng are out for the game tonight. Thats two starters on a squad that is already struggling so tonight could be a complete write off and it is looking more and more like the season could be too.

Right now they are hanging around in the playoff picture but that could easily change over the next week, especially if injuries become even more of a problem.

With players coming in and out of the lineup there is even more of a burden on Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade.

As expected Bosh has seen a bump in his numbers this seem and the duo is contributing 43ppg. Its just that on their own that just isn’t enough. The loss of Whiteside is too bad because he was finally emerging as a player and his presence meant that Bosh didn’t have to bang as much down low.

Charlotte

The Hornets are probably playing their best basketball of the season right now. They have won 7 of their last 8 games, knocking off a combination of good and bad teams in the process. When the season began they were expected to be in the playoff mix but at the midway point they are on the outside looking in.

A win over Miami would help bridge the gap and in a weak Eastern Conference they can easily secure their position if they are more consistent in the second half.

Charlotte was missing PG Kemba Walker in their last game. Sure they won by 25 points against Minnesota but he is their leading scorer and you will want to know his status for sure before making a call on this one.

This team plays good defense but is light on scoring options without Walker. If he is going to be out then Al Jefferson needs to be right. He just got back into the lineup but they can’t afford to baby him too much.

NBA Prediction:  n/a

As of this post going live and thanks to a couple of key injuries there is no early line on this game.

NBA Score prediction:  Charlotte 95 – Miami 90

Charlotte is definitely the play to win though I think it will be close. Sometimes the market overcorrects.
