San Antonio has been hot of late, winning four in a row and seven of its last eight games, and it has done so with tough defense, while the Pacers may not field one starter from the squad that won the Eastern Conference last season when they hit the court on Wednesday night. Even still, Indiana has won five of its last seven games.

The Pacers won 16 of their first 17 games a year ago and eventually won 56 games to win the East. This year, the team is without All-Star forward Paul George who is expected to miss the entire season, power forward David West has a sprained ankle, point guard George Hill is dealing with a knee contusion and hasn’t seen the court yet this season.

Shooting guard Lance Stephenson is of course in Charlotte playing for the Hornets, and center Roy Hibbert sprained his ankle in Saturday’s loss to the Phoenix Suns, causing him to miss Monday’s 111-100 victory over the Dallas Mavericks, and making him questionable for this game.

Ian Mahinmi filled in at center for Hibbert over the last two games, averaging 11.0 points on 66.7 percent shooting and adding 8.5 rebounds. Point guard Donald Sloan was the real hero in the win over Dallas, scoring 29 points in Hill’s place.

The game marked Indiana’s highest scoring output of the season, with the team knocking down 13 of its 26 attempts from beyond the arc. Now they look to continue that pace against a Spurs team that is allowing a league-low 91.3 points per game.

Over their last six games, the Spurs have really picked things up at the defensive end, limiting opponents to 86.3 points per game on 39.4 shooting from the field and 24.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

The Pacers rank near the bottom of the league in scoring, racking up only 92.4 points per game, and are knocking down only 42.6 percent of their shots from the field.

Meanwhile, they’ve continued their strong defensive play, allowing only 94.4 points per game.

The Spurs far outclass the depleted Pacers in this one, which figures to get ugly quickly.

NBA Betting Trends:

The Spurs are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 home games, and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.

The Pacers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings between these teams, and 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings in San Antonio.

The under is 6-1 in the Spurs’ last seven home games, and it is 19-7 in their last 26 games overall.

The play: Spurs -13, Under 187.5

Additionally, with both teams placing an emphasis on their play at the defensive end, this one should comfortably cruise under the number.
