Dallas
The Mavs took their game at home against the Spurs on Tuesday night but haven’t played since. These teams are neck and neck and this win could be in important in the standings when all is said and done.

The win snapped a two game losing streak and it was a nice defensive effort as they held the Spurs to just 94 points. Dallas has been in the middle of the playoff picture in the West all season long and now they are looking to close with some momentum.
The Mavs got a big game from Monta Ellis the other night and scored a double-double from Dirk Nowitzki as well.

Even though they were effective in holding down the Spurs this is still a teams that wants to score, which is why I think they are still having problems integrating Rajon Rondo in an effective way. Even though they want to win their games really this time is most important in terms of setting up their rotation for the playoffs.
San Antonio
Even though I am sure they were bummed to lose to Dallas that didn’t stop the Spurs from exploding against Oklahoma City on Wednesday. Back at home they put up 131 points and won by 39 points. The Spurs have been playing some great ball the last couple of months and definitely seem primed to be a factor in the playoffs. With a strong finish over the last 10 games they could still move up a few spots and grab home court advantage for the first round of the playoffs.
The Spurs showed their depth against OKC by having three players score in double figures off the bench. The amazing thing about their recent success is that they are still managing minutes to stay fresh for the playoffs.

Tony Parker seems to be aging better than any point guard in the league. While guys like Kyle Lowry seem to always be laboring he is fresh and effective every night.
