New Orleans
The Pelicans had a strong final quarter that made their opening game loss to the Warriors seem much closer than it really was. It may have satisfied backers but I am not sure there was really anything there that makes you think they are going to really press Golden State in the series. One thing that is obvious is that Anthony Davis is an absolute stud and maybe when the Series gets back to Big Easy he will be able to help his teammates taste a little playoff success.

Davis hit for 35 points for the Pelicans but this game showed they just don’t have the depth to compete with Golden State. They did get a surprising contribution from Quincy Pondexter who scored 20 points while also leading the team in rebounds and assists.

It was just the third time all season he has scored 20 or more and they are going to need him to continue to play big, especially if Tyreke Evans is not able to go on Monday.
Golden State
The Warriors do not have to worry about style points, they just need to keep winning games and advancing in the playoffs so it doesn’t seem their wonderful regular season was wasted. Using that mindset game one was a success, even if they left backers hanging out to dry. They opened up in the first half very strong and no amount of 4th quarter comeback should have them all that concerned. It was nice to see that Steph Curry appears ready for his closeup.
Curry led the way but the entire starting lineup was very sharp. Everyone scored 12 or more points, Andrew Bogut and Draymond Green both had double-doubles and the backcourt of Curry and Klay Thompson scored 55 points combined. If I had to be concerned about anything for Golden State it would be that only one player off the bench scored more than 2 points and that David Lee is questionable with a back injury.

That really hampers their depth.
