With only a handful of games left it looks as if the Mavs will have the 3rd seed in the Western Conference playoffs while the Blazers’ seed is still up in the air. They are currently in the 6th position, but only have a 1 game lead on both the Hornets and the Grizzlies. They want to stay in 6th so they would avoid playing the Lakers in the first round of the playoffs. There is a good chance this game is a preview of a first round post-season match up.
The Mavericks face the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night and in their previous game they lost to the Lakers 110-82 and the Blazers beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 98-91.
This season both teams have been pretty good wagers with the Blazers at 39-34-3 ATS and the Mavs at 40-33-2 ATS. The Mavs have only covered the spread 2 times in their last 7 games against the Blazers.

The Blazers do not have a legit big man to speak of and they will need Aldridge and Marcus Camby to keep Mavs’ C Tyson Chandler (10.2 ppg 9.4 rpg) from dominating the paint.
Jason Terry and Jason Kidd are a quick backcourt the Blazers have to keep them from penetrating and scoring and dishing out the rock.
The Mavs do not have much motivation for this game while the Blazers do, which is why they will win and cover the spread.
