Chicago vs. Portland Preview

The Bulls (34-15) had their 6-game winning streak snapped in their last game and they look to get back in the win column against the Blazers (27-24), who are coming off a win and are 6-4 in their last 10 games. NBA lines have the visiting Bulls as 2-point favorites in this game with a total of 183.

In their last games both teams played on Saturday with the Blazers beating the Cleveland Cavaliers 111-105 and the Bulls losing to the Golden State Warriors 101-90.

This season the Blazers are 17-7 at home and the Bulls are only 11-11 on the road.

The Bulls have been a solid team to lay some green on this season going 28-19-2 ATS while the Blazers have not at 23-25-3 ATS. The Bulls have only covered the spread one time in their last 5 games in Portland. NBA Betting

The Blazers are still in the playoff picture even though they have been beset by injuries and the main reason is the play of PF LaMarcus Aldridge (21.2 ppg 9.1 rpg). He has been thorn in the side of the Bulls averaging 29.7 ppg on 63.8% shooting in his last 3 games against them.

The Blazers only rank 18th in the league in scoring and their will have to rely on their D tonight. They have a solid defense ranking 9th in the league in opponents’ points allowed, but can they contain the trio of Derrick Rose (24.4 ppg), Carlos Boozer (19.8 ppg), and Luol Deng (17.8 ppg)?

The Bulls’ defense is also their strength, as they rank 3rd in the league in opponents’ points allowed. The Bulls gave up 101 points to Golden State on Saturday and they are only 2-10 this season when they allow teams to score triple digits. In the Bulls last 3 games in Portland they have allowed the Blazers to score 112.7 ppg and they cannot allow them to score near that total tonight.

Portland guards Wesley Matthews (16.5 ppg) and Andre Miller (12.9 ppg) have to help Aldridge out in the scoring department and they also have to shoot the rock well from the outside so the Bulls do not pack the lane on defense.

The Bulls are not a great team on the road and they have not had much success in Portland in the last few seasons, but that will change tonight. Rose and Boozer will have good games and the Chicago D will keep Portland from lighting up the scoreboard. The Bulls will win this game and cover the 2-point spread.

Betting Trends

Chicago is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games as a road favorite and Portland is 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog.

Pick: Bulls -2
