ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

The Nets (42-34) are winners of five of their last six games, and can lock up the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference with another win over Miami.

Brooklyn  has won two in a row, including a 105-101 triumph at Philadelphia last time out, when Mirza Teletovic hit the decisive 3-pointer with 48 seconds left.

Deron Williams’ 19 points and nine assists led the way for Brooklyn, while Kevin Garnett had 10 points and four rebounds in 13 minutes in his first game back in action since going down with an injury back on Feb. 27.

The Nets dominated  the Sixers’ down low, with a 60-40 edge in points in the paint.

So far this year, Brooklyn averages 98.8 points on 45.9 percent shooting and allows 99.4 points on 45.5 percent shooting.

Lately, the Nets have been hitting on all cylinders offensively, shooting an eye-popping 51.3 percent from the field in their last five games.

Meanwhile, the Heat (53-23) sit atop the East Conference in the overall No. 1 spot, one game ahead of Indiana.  They have won five of their last six games, including a 102-91 victory over New York on Sunday.

LeBron James went off in that one for 38 points to go 13-for-22 from the field, while Mario Chalmers added 15 points and Chris Bosh had 14 for Miami which overcame being without Dwyane Wade, Chris Andersen and Greg Oden.

On the year, Miami is stout offensively, averaging 103 points on 50.4 percent shooting while giving up 97.3 points on 45.3 percent shooting.

The Heat control their own playoff destiny and will continue to look for LeBron to carry the load.

Brooklyn will need to find an answer for the power forward, who has scored 30-plus points in three of his last four games, while shooting 54.5 percent in his last five.

Matt’s Free NBA Prediction:

The home team is 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings between these two teams.

And with so many players out of the Heat lineup, I expect that the Nets will find a way to contain LeBron.

Still Brooklyn is just horrible on the road, while the Heat have won 31 of 39 games on their home court.

Heat 101, Nets 99
