2015 NBA Finals MVP Betting Odds

Who Will Win NBA Finals MVP?

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors have been on a crash course to the NBA Finals since the start of the 2015 postseason. The dream scenario featuring Stephen Curry versus LeBron James has finally come to fruition, and those two will lead the way when it comes to betting favorites on the series MVP.

Along with Curry and James, you’ll find an injured star, a borderline superstar and a defensive dynamo who might be Golden State’s only chance at slowing down the best player on the planet.

Give guys like J.R. Smith, Tristan Thompson, Andrew Bogut and Harrison Barnes for getting their respective teams to this eventual showdown, but it’s all about the best being the best with a championship on the line.

Draymond Green

Finals MVP Odds: 16/1
Draymond Green will have a crucial role in this year’s Finals. His primary responsibility will be to contain LeBron James — easier said than done.

Although Green is becoming a more versatile offensive player, it’s how he holds James in check that will determine his MVP candidacy. We saw Kawhi Leonard use his growing offense and dynamic defense to win Finals MVP last season, but you must remember Leonard didn’t have knock-down scorers to distract voters by the end of the series.

Kyrie Irving

Finals MVP Odds: 12/1
Kyrie Irving’s odds to win a Finals MVP would be far greater if he didn’t share the court with runningmate LeBron James.

Then again, there’s virtually no scenario where the Cleveland Cavaliers land themselves in the Finals without The King on board, so it’s a decent trade for Irving at this point in his young career.

Klay Thompson

Finals MVP Odds: 11/1
Like Irving, Klay Thompson’s odds were be far greater if he didn’t share the court with the NBA’s current MVP: Steph Curry. However, Thompson seems a better favorite than Irving, seeing as the Warriors have played excellent team basketball, whereas the Cavs have relied on James heavily up to this point.

Don’t ignore Thompson in this race — after all, he is the player who set an NBA record with 37 points in one quarter this season. But when it comes down to it, this race should be a two-horse showdown between Curry and James.

LeBron James

Finals MVP Odds: 2/1
LeBron James enters this series as the only player on the court who’s won an NBA Finals MVP. In fact, he is playing in his sixth NBA championship — his fifth straight.

If the Cavaliers win the title this year, the MVP will be James’. The King came back to Cleveland to win his hometown a championship, and he’s four victories away from making that happen.

Winning the series is the key, however, as a loss to the Warriors would make it virtually impossible for anyone to vote James when the best-of-seven showdown is a wrap.

Stephen Curry

Finals MVP Odds: 10/23
If you believe the Cavaliers are going to win the 2015 NBA championship, LeBron James is your pick. James is the best player on the planet, and if he’s able to get his original team its title, he’s the easy selection.

Unfortunately for Cavs fans, the odds are stacked against them.

[dfads params=’groups=63741&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Entering the series, Golden State is a six-point favorite going into Game 1. The Dubs’ championship odds are slated at 5/12 at this juncture, while the Cavaliers sit at 19/10.

If Golden State can win this series — its first championship appearance in 40 years — it will be behind the offensive prowess and incredible playmaking of this year’s MVP. This is a showdown between this year’s MVP and the perennial MVP candidate James, but Curry will have the edge if the Warriors prove they’re the best team after all.
