There are numerous talented teams internationally that will hope to challenge the United State, but at this time, it would be looked at as a big-time upset if the U.S. fell short of a championship.

Here is a look at the top five teams with the best odds to walk away victorious.

USA 2014 FIBA World Cup Odds 2/7

Team USA has seen two massive blows to its roster since the nationally televised scrimmage back on Aug. 1. Not only did Paul George go down with one of the most devastating leg injuries we’ve ever seen, but Kevin Durant subsequently pulled himself out of the competition.

That’s two starters gone, but there’s good news—USA is still loaded with talent. Athleticism isn’t going to be a problem for this team, and that’s a huge asset in international competition.

The bigger problem is going to be size, but that’s why a guy like Anthony Davis will have plenty of opportunities to shine on both ends of the floor.

Spain 2014 FIBA World Cup Odds 5/2

If any team has a shot at beating the United State, Spain might be it. Led by NBA stars such as Pau Gasol and his brother Marc, the two 7-footers will look to take advantage of a clearly undersized USA roster. Don’t forget, either, that shot-blocking machine Serge Ibaka is also representing the Spanish national squad.

Jose Calderon and Ricky Rubio give the team quickness and facilitation, rounding out the roster that can compete in a championship against Team USA.

France 2014 FIBA World Cup Odds 25/1

Although not as stacked with NBA talent as Spain, France has a couple of key cogs in their rotation that should sound familiar. For starters, NBA champion Boris Diaw.

The San Antonio Spur brings winning experience, as well as a versatile skill set that France will use both on the perimeter and on the block. Nicolas Batum, Evan Fournier, Rudy Gobert, Ian Mahinmi and Nando de Colo round out the rest of the NBA players on this roster.

Greece 2014 FIBA World Cup Odds 25/1

The Greece national team has three NBA players on its roster. Kostas Papanikolaou from the Houston Rockets and Nick Calathes from the Memphis Grizzlies will bring their skill sets to this group, but if it’s going to make a run at a championship, it’s going to be behind the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokoumpo.

The 19-year-old is as versatile on the court as it comes, as his height and handles create for a rare combination that will be crucial when going up against international competition.

Argentina 2014 FIBA World Cup Odds 28/1

Argentina is the only team in the top five to not have an NBA player on their roster. Manu Ginobili, who has become a staple for this squad, will not be participating. At 37 years old, he says he is “98 percent” sure that will not compete for the team again in the future.

This team is deep enough to make up for the loss, but with Ginobili gone, the odds drop a bit when it comes to a championship pursuit.
