Carl Edwards had become a forgotten man when it came to winning Sprint Cup races but that all changed last week with a victory at Phoenix.

Jimmie Johnson remained hot after his win at Daytona by taking second and Denny Hamlin finished third.

The following is a closer look at our favorite, contender, and longshot picks for this Sunday’s race with odds provided by Bovada.

The Favorite (odd of less than 10/1)

If you are looking to let it ride this week in Las Vegas than stick with the hottest hand right now in NASCAR. Jimmie Johnson has been opened at 13/2 to win on Sunday and for good reason.

Current form alone makes him a top pick, but the No.48 car’s past performance at this track adds even more value to these odds.

Johnson has posted four previous victories at this track and has an average finishing position of 9.8. [ad-8757089]

Last year he came very close to adding a fifth checkered flag to his resume with a second-place finish in this race.

The Contender (odds from 10/1 to 19/1)

The second hottest driver through the first two races has been Dale Earnhardt Jr. with a second-place finish in the Daytona 500 and a fifth-place finish in last week’s race to stay within eight points of Johnson in the standings.

He has been opened at 10/1 to finally break through with a win this Sunday.

The No.88 car finished 10th in last year’s race to post its fourth top-ten finish at Las Vegas in its last five races here. Dale Jr. has never won at this track but this year could be his best shot ever to end that drought.

The Longshot (odds 20/1 or greater)

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is probably best known for dating Danica Patrick, but through the first two races of the season he has quietly raced the No.17 car into ninth place in the Sprint Cup standings with 60 points.

Stenhouse has never raced at Las Vegas before and only ran in four Sprint Cup races last season so it is easy to see why he is a 50/1 longshot to post his first career victory this Sunday.

Still, the value is there if he can continue to run near the front of the pack like he has in his first two outings.
