Thursday’s “Need To Know”

A look at the hot and cold pitchers going on Thursday. The information you need to know whether it is for fantasy baseball or wagering contests.

Probable Hot Starting Pitchers going on Thursday:

Tim Lincecum (Giants, 9-2, 2.23ERA)

Tim Lincecum will go up against the Padres and Josh Geer (0-2 5.23ERA Last 5) on Thursday to win his 10th game. Lincecum is the clear favorite for the Cy Young in the National League and he has dominated in his last 5 starts he owns a 4-1 record with a .86ERA and a 0.76WHIP. Over that span he has 46K’s in 42 IP.

Lincecum is coming of a 7 inning shutout against the Houston Astros. He will face the Padres at home here where he has a 0.64ERA in his last 4 home starts vs. the Padres. As good as all this sounds the juice on Lincecum is already at -285 so maybe the run line, but I still would not trust the Giants hitters on the run line.

Felix Hernandez (8-3, 2.62ERA)

It Felix has been on this list almost every time this season. Over his last 5 starts he owns a 3-0 record with a 1.41ERA and a 0.97WHIP. He will go up against a Rangers team that scored 8 runs in LA last night, but will be traveling all the way to Seattle to play another late game against one of the AL’s best pitchers.

Worth noting is the Rangers’ success against Felix. The Rangers have scored 6ER in their last 2 visits here against the Mariners. My advice is to stay away from this game completely. Now that the Rangers are starting to get healthy offensively they are going to be a force to be reckoned with!

You want sports betting tips? Stay far away from this game there are too many uncertainties.

Notables – Last 3 Starts!

Joel Pineiro (Cardinals, 1-3, 0.92WHIP, 2.25ERA)
Tommy Hanson (Braves, 4-0 1.27WHIP, 0.90ERA)
Aaron Cook (Rockies, 4-0, 1.24WHIP, 2.18ERA)
Brad Penny (Red Sox, 1-1, 1.26WHIP, 2.20ERA)

Probable Cold Pitchers on Thursday:

Manny Parra (Brewers, 3-8, 7.52ERA)

Manny despite having better numbers at home (5.47ERA) and during the day (6.75ERA) still clearly struggles. He owns a 13.50ERA over his last 5 starts with a 0-4 record and a 2.58WHIP. I don’t think it could get much worse than this, but it can as he is facing the Cardinals who own a .310 average against him including a 6-15 from Pujols with a HR.

The Cardinals will send Joel Pineiro to the mound; he has a 2.25ERA in his last 5 starts. Also the Cardinals’ bats are hot right now scoring 12.27 R/9 in their last 5 vs. LHP. Look for the Cardinals to win this one big!

Yusmeiro Petit (Diamondbacks, 0-3, 8.46ERA)

Petit the former Mets prospect will face the Marlins who he has success against in the past in just one start. Petit went 6 innings giving up 2H and 0ER in his only start vs. the Marlins in 2008.

However this is 2009 and Petit has a 8.70ERA at home in 3GS he has an overall 8.46ERA in 7GS. Andrew Miller will be facing the Diamondbacks and don’t expect much offense from the Dbacks as they have a .150 average vs. LHP in their last 5 games. m.

Notables – Last 3 Starts!

Livan Hernandez (Mets, 0-3, 1.70WHIP, 6.14ERA)
Joshua Geer (Padres, 0-2, 1.32WHIP, 5.23ERA)
David Price (Rays, 1-3, 1.80WHIP, 6.94ERA)
