The Cincinnati Reds sit atop the NL Central, and the Reds have the second-best record in the majors. There is no love lost between these two divisional rivals. Get ready for a big showdown in Cincinnati Friday night.

St. Louis hasn’t had a completely healthy lineup very often this year, but they are as healthy as they have been all season right now. This is a very deep lineup that starts with Jon Jay at the top and moves all the way down to the Yadier Molina or David Freese in the seven spot. Not many teams in baseball have strong hitters like that so low in the order. Only Lance Berkman is not in the lineup now, and it is unclear if he’ll be back this year. Lance Lynn is 13-5 this year for the Cardinals. Lynn has helped the depth of this rotation in a big way, but he has been a little shaky of late. Lynn has a 6.46 ERA in his last three starts.  [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

The Reds are coming off a split at Philadelphia. Cincinnati is still without star hitter Joey Votto, but it seems he is getting pretty close to his return. The Reds lost in extra innings last night in a game they really should have won. How will the team bounce back from that tough loss? Todd Frazier has been amazing of late for the Reds. Frazier is a candidate for Rookie of the Year thanks to his 18 homers and 55 RBI’s in limited action this season. Cincinnati has the fourth best team ERA in the majors. The Reds bullpen has been spectacular all season, and the starters have improved as the season has gone along. Mat Latos has a brilliant 1.23 ERA in his last three starts.

The Reds understand the importance of this series, and I think they have a pitching advantage in this one. Look for Cincinnati to get back on track right away.
