It’s safe to say the Yanks made the right decision to send Joba to the bullpen and give Phil Hughes another chance to start. Hughes leads the American League with his 1.38 ERA and has really been untouchable so far this season.
Hughes hasn’t fared well against Boston in the past, amassing a 5.85 lifetime ERA, but I can’t help but dismiss that stat since Hughes has become a new pitcher this season.
Whereas Hughes has turned over a new leaf, Daisuke Matsuzaka looked like his old self in his last start, holding the Blue Jays to one run over seven innings and striking out nine batters. 
But one start doesn’t right all the wrongs we’ve seen from Dice-K over the last year. He still has a 5.49 career ERA against the Yanks and struggles to retire Derek Jeter, who bats .429 off him.
Make Dice-K prove one more time that he’s legit before you start trusting him.
