Memphis Grizzlies vs. L.A. Clippers Preview

The Clip Joint must play better in this game, as they can’t expect the Grizzlies to struggle with their shot like they did, big time, in Game 3. NBA lines have the Clippers as slight 1.5-point home favorites in this game with a total of 182.5.

In Game 3 the Clippers won 87-86 with Rudy Gay missing a game winning shot at the buzzer.

This season the Grizzlies are 30-38-1 ATS with an O/U record of 25-41 and the Clippers are 34-34-1 ATS with an O/U record of 35-33-1.

The Grizzlies were 30/39 from the free throw line in Game 3, but they only shot 40% from the field, but late in the 4th quarter went nearly 7 minutes without making a field goal.

Every starter for the Grizzlies shot under 50% from the field with Marc Gasol only shooting over 50%, but he was only 3/5 from the floor. 6th man O.J. Mayo’s offense will be needed tonight after he only scored 6 points going 1/8 from the floor in Game 3.

Gasol and Randolph must assert themselves inside in this game, as in Game 3 the Griz only scored 20 points in the paint. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Blake Griffin and Chris Paul played well in Game 3 and they must do so again to win. However, the Griz must play better against the other players such as Randy Foy who went for 16 points and hit 4 of his 5 3-pointers in Game 3.

L.A. missed 17 of their 30 free throw attempts in Game 3 and the Clippers cannot miss easy chances from the charity stripe. In an interesting fact that is the worst FT% of any playoff team with at least 30 attempts and the Clippers still won the game.

Both teams committed 17 turnovers in Game 3 and each needs to hold onto the rock in this game.

In some betting trends for this Western Conference match up the Grizzlies are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games, 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall, and they have an Under record of 13-3 in their last 16 road games.

The Clippers are 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a home favorite, and they have an Over record of 5-1 in their last 6 games.

Jason’s Pick: The Clippers got a little lucky in Game 3, but they will not be so lucky tonight. The Griz will shoot the rock better and they will even this series with a win in La La Land.
