The Philadelphia Phillies make a pit stop in Colorado for a make-up game with the Rockies at Coors Field. Tonight’s game is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. (ET).

Philadelphia has feasted on the NL West going 5-1 in its recent road trip to run its overall record to 75-58 overall. The Phillies are three games in back of Atlanta in the NL East but 1 ½ games ahead of San Francisco in the wildcard race. The five wins raised their road record to 33-32 straight up and they are 21-15 against the spread as an underdog. Against the ‘over/under’ line they are 60-70-2.

On the mound tonight for Philadelphia will be the right hander Joe Blanton. In 22 starts this season he is 6-6 with a 5.15 ERA. His last time out he pitched six strong innings, giving up six hits and just one earned run in a win over San Diego. Blanton has only given up four earned runs in his last 20 innings.

While the Phillies pitching has been lights out over the past two weeks, their bats are struggling a bit. Over the past 10 games they have only averaged 3.1 runs per game. Their .255 team batting average is ranked 11th in the NL and their 610 runs scored ranks them fifth.

Colorado has won seven of its last 10 games to keep its playoff hopes alive. The Rockies are seven games behind the Padres in the West and 5 ½ games behind the Phillies for the wildcard spot. Their overall record is 69-63 and they are 43-21 SU at home. As the favorite the Rockies are 52-30 ATS and are 59-69-3 against the ‘over/under’ line.

Colorado will go with Jhoulys Chacin as their starter tonight. He has pitched in 22 games, 15 of them as the starter. In his first full season in the Majors, Chacin is 7-9 with an ERA of 3.79. In his last start he gave up four hits and only one earned run in seven full inning of work to get the win over the Dodgers. This will be his first career start against the Phillies.

The Rockies’ bats continue to provide solid run support and they are tied for sixth in the NL with a team batting average of .261. Their 610 runs scored (the same as the Phils) rank them fifth. Carlos Gonzalez leads the team with 158 hits, 92 RBI, and 30 HR’s.

This game is shaping up as a pitching duel as Chacin has been impressive as a rookie and Blanton is finally starting to find his groove. Colorado is tough to beat at home and the Phillies may be just a bit road wary to pull out another win.
