Rock-solid Mark Buehrle gets the nod for the Pale Hose on Sunday Night Baseball. The model of consistency, he’s rattled off nine quality starts in his last 10 trips to the hill. Stretching it further, Buehrle has hit double-digit wins 11 seasons in a row. He’s sizzled since the All-Star break, going 5-1 with a 2.25 ERA over eight starts.
Buehrle got rocked in his lone other trip to Comerica Park this season, allowing six runs on eight hits over 5.2 innings.
Detroit Tigers (75-62 through September 1)

On Sunday night, they’ll be loaded up with bats who historically feast on Buehrle. Victor Martinez is a .347 career hitter against him (25 for 72) with four homers and 13 RBI; Magglio Ordonez bats .447 off him; Delmon Young hits .333 with three homers in 39 at-bats versus Buehrle.
Which version of Max Scherzer will show up on Sunday night? The talented but enigmatic pitcher got rocked his last time out, allowing 10 hits, seven runs and three homers in just three innings against Kansas City.

Given that so many Detroit hitters have Buehrle figured out and how few White Sox hitters have solved Scherzer this season, a Detroit pick makes sense.
