Minnesota Twins vs. Chicago White Sox Gambling Prediction & MLB Preview

Twins (51-62) vs White Sox (43-71)

The Minnesota Twins took both ends of their Friday double header to distance themselves even further from the last place Chicago White Sox. We are through two thirds of the season and the Twins are proving to be closer to bad than horrible, with a great chance to extend their winning on Saturday afternoon.

4:05PM
Probable Starters:
MIN: Mike Pelfrey (R)
CHW: Andre Rienzo (R)

Minnesota

Yesterday the bats were booming with six different players going deep over the twin bill. They are probably going to need more of the same given who they are serving up on the mound on Saturday.

I was surprised to see Mike Pelfrey in the Majors this season but definitely not surprised with the general results which have been bad. Once a top prospect with the Mets he never lived up to expectations in New York and now is just rotation fodder for a bad Minnesota team.

Even though Target Field is playing more towards pitchers than hitters than expected he is putting up better numbers on the road. Don’t get too excited though, the improvement is marginal. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Chicago

The Chicago White Sox dropped two games yesterday but the big news was probably the movement of OF Alex Rios to Texas. It saves the team some money but leaves them even more shorthanded in their everyday lineup. One promising development from yesterday was that SS Alexei Ramirez went deep twice.

His power had mysteriously disappeared this season as they were just the second and third homers of the season. They are going to need more of the same to remain just respectable down the stretch.

There isn’t a very long book on White Sox starter Andre Rienzo as this is just his third start in the Big Leagues. So far he has yet to win a game but with an ERA of 1.38 he must be doing something right. Also impressive is his .188 BAA. It is a very small sample size but still. Rienzo is a good but not great prospect and the White Sox are doing what teams in their position should – give him a chance to see what happens.

So far, not bad and he gets a favourable matchup to get his first win this weekend.

Sure the Sox took a hit to their lineup yesterday but sometimes these things invigorate a team. Pelfrey is hardly a reliable option for the Twins so I think Chicago will be able to put some crooked numbers on the board.

Their own starter Rienzo is still a mystery but the Twins have some very good bats from the left side in 1B Justin Mourneau and C Joe Mauer.

O/U Pick: Over
Score Prediction: Chicago 6 – Minnesota 5
