Philadelphia Phillies vs. Colorado Rockies Preview

1. The Rockies are tied with the Oakland A’s for the fewest wins in the Majors.
2. The Phillies are tied with the Orioles for the fewest road wins in the Majors.
3. The Phillies had their 6-game winning streak snapped with their loss to the Rockies yesterday.

This season the Rockies are 5-10 at home and the Phillies are 5-14 on the road.

These 2 teams met yesterday in Game 2 of a 4-game series and the Rockies beat the Phillies 6-5.

The Phillies had won 6 straight games before falling to the Rockies yesterday. With their win streak Philadelphia pulled out of the basement in the NL East, but they are still 6.5 games back of the Nationals and Mets.

The Rockies snapped their 2-game losing streak in yesterday’s win, but they are still in last place in the NL West 9 games back of the Dodgers. They are the home betting favorite tonight facing a Phillies’ team that has really struggled on the road this season even though they won the first game of this series.

It is not hard to see why the Phillies and Rockies are well below .500 so far on the season. Philadelphia ranks 30th in runs scored and 17th in team ERA and Colorado ranks 28th in runs scored and 30th in team ERA.

Severino Gonzalez makes only his 3rd start of the season tonight and while he was shelled in his first start of the season he was solid in his last one giving up 2 earned runs in 5 innings in a 6-2 win over the Miami Marlins.

Colorado has won 3 of their first 4 games on the season when Eddie Butler had gotten the start, but they have lost 3 straight with him on the hill. In his last outing he gave up 3 earned runs in only 2 innings of work in a 6-4 loss to the L.A. Dodgers.

Butler was pulled early in his last start, but he has not given up more than 3 earned runs in any of his 7 starts this season.

The Rockies are 1-4 in Butler’s last 5 starts.

While the Phillies have won 37 of their last 51 games against the Rockies they are only 2-5 in their last 7 games facing them in Colorado.

MLB Betting Trends

* Philadelphia is 6-1 in their last 7 overall.
* Philadelphia is 8-22 in their last 30 road games.
* Philadelphia has an Under record of 5-2 in their last 7 games.
* Colorado is 7-20 in their last 27 overall.
* Colorado is 1-6 in their last 7 home games.

4* Cappers MLB Free Pick

I have to go with the Rockies in this one, as I think Butler will have a better outing than his last one and the Colorado bats will get to Gonzalez.
