After dropping the opener of their series in the Bronx they jumped all over the Yankees in game 2 and will be looking to escape with yet another series victory Wednesday night. Again it has been solid pitching leading the way, but Tuesday night the bats came alive too.
One of those booming bats is Chris Davis’, he has been on a tear of late. He has 4 homers in his last 7 games adding even more punch to a surprisingly potent Orioles lineup. They are going to need it too as starter Jake Arrieta hasn’t fared well against the Yankees. Other than Derek Jeter discovering the Fountain of Youth it feels like not much has gone right for the Yankees this year. Yet there they are challenging the surprising Orioles and Rays for supremacy in the AL East. The rubber match features their most successful pitcher and their lineup is third in the Majors in runs and first in homers heading into Tuesday night. No need to panic in the Bronx right now.
Starter pitcher Ivan Nova is far from perfect but the Yankees have won every game he has started this season. You can afford to have a 5.18 ERA when the your teammates score at least 6 runs for you every time you take the bump. But how much longer can he keep that up? This feels like a great spot to play against. He is not going to win forever and the Orioles are going good. The payoff is decent enough to make it a really nice value play.
