A pair of teams trying for an AL Wild Card spot battle it out Tuesday night inside Comerica Park. While Los Angeles tries to battle back in a 3 team AL West battle, the crowded Wild Card race is a likely option for both.
Currently, Los Angeles sits in 7th in the AL Wild Card, just 1.5 games out though of the 2nd Wild Card. They also sit in 3rd, 5.0 games back of first place Houston in the AL West.
Detroit meanwhile has seen Kansas City just run completely away in the AL Central. In the Wild Card standings they sit 10th, 5.5 behind the 2nd Wild Card spot.

The Angels send out RH Jered Weaver, while the Tigers will counter with RH Alfredo Simon.
Both right handers have shown some signs of brilliance this season, but have also shown many signs of inconsistencies and inability to keep the walk count down.
Los Angeles Angels
The Angels look to put an end to their current 4 game losing streak Tuesday night against Detroit. Los Angeles has scored just 12 runs during their skid while they’ve allowed the opposition to score 44 runs total.
They’ve also dropped 10 of their last 14 overall.
The last time these two teams met was back on May 28-31 when the Angels swept a 4 game series from Detroit and outscored them 26-10. A series similar to that would prove vital as Los Angeles has come back to the middle of the pack and sits in a cluster of teams.

Weaver has battled through many injuries in the middle of all this and returned to old form in his win over the White Sox.
He allowed 5 hits in 6.1 innings as the Angels held on for a 1-0 win.
The RH is 5-4 in his career against the Tigers following his 3 run 6.1 inning victory back on May 30th.
Detroit Tigers
If the Tigers hope to continue their consecutive post season run, their starting pitching is going to have to match their offensive numbers.
Detroit held a 5-0 lead Monday in their makeup game with the Reds. Then everything broke lose as the Reds put up a 10 spot en route to a 12-5 win. With the loss, Detroit fell 5.5 back of Texas for that 2nd Wild Card spot.
The offense is clicking once again as Miguel Cabrera is tearing the cover off the ball,like usual. Miggy is in the midst of a 9 game hitting streak that has seen him go 19 for 36, including an RBI double in Monday’s loss.

Detroit will go with RH Alfredo Simon, who is coming off his best start of the season. Simon recorded his first shutout of his career in a 4-0 gem over Texas. The RH struck out 5 in the contest.
Simon is now 3-1 over his last 5 and is 5-2 in 11 starts inside Comerica Park.
