The Dodgers (2-1) were stunned in Sunday night and have reasons to be concerned, after just three games into the 2014 season. That’s because their bullpen was awful, even after making pitching a focus of their offseason.

Meanwhile, LA’s offense was kept in check as Padres ‘starter Andrew Cashner and a bevy of relievers were nearly flawless. They held the Dodgers to just four hits and combined to strike out nine batters.

On Tuesday, LA will send Zack Greinke to the hill. The 2009 American League Cy Young Award winner finished the 2013 regular season with a bang, but strained his right calf early in spring training.
Nevertheless, he will join the rotation on Tuesday after a strong six-inning spring outing last week.
Greinke dominated San Diego last season, going 2-0 with a 1.44 ERA in four starts.
He will oppose Ian Kennedy for the first time since last June 11, when then-Diamondback Kennedy hit Greinke a high pitch that started a bench-clearing brawl that resulted in six ejections.
Kennedy, who was acquired at the trade deadline last season, has shown improvement with the Padres, going 4-2 with a 4.24 ERA after the trade.
He owns a 7-2 record with a 2.41 ERA in 12 all-time starts at Petco Park, but did not fare well against the Dodgers last season going 0-2 with a 6.62 ERA in three starts..

San Diego was able to pull off a big win on Sunday at the expense of the Dodgers bullpen, which I expect not to be too big of a factor in this one as Greinke is more than capable of going nearly the distance.
