Baseball Gambling: Cappers Picks Baseball Power Rankings Week 25

Baseball Handicapping Tips

The MLB Gambling regular season has only a few weeks left on its calendar, and the front offices for each team have tinkered and toyed with their rosters, doing what they can to further separate the haves and the have-nots. With that said, it’s these opinions we formulate that help us to build the foundation of a profitable final quarter.

MLB Stats

Here are the power rankings entering the 25th week of the MLB schedule.

1. Los Angeles Angels (93-56)

No team is hotter than the Angels right now, and they sure picked a great time to get hot. Their 10-game winning streak may be a thing of the past, but their offense figures to continue raking, as they managed 86 runs over the course of that streak.

They’ve won games at a nearly 70 percent clip since June 6.

2. Baltimore Orioles (89-60)

The Orioles could have folded up like a cheap tent and it would have been perfectly understandable. The team has dealt with a litany of injuries this season, starting with catcher Matt Wieters and third baseman Manny Machado, and now the departure of first baseman Chris Davis, but guys just keep stepping up and rising to the occasion.

3. Washington Nationals (85-63)

The Nationals are pulling away from the rest of the N.L. East with relative ease, winning 13 of 16 over the division rival New York Mets thanks to a strong showing on the weekend. They’re going to throw out a deeper starting rotation than whoever they draw in the opening round of the playoffs.

4. Los Angeles Dodgers (85-64)

It’s concerning that they’ve been so reliant on below-average starting pitchers to eat innings for them, and they really need to hope the injury to Hyun-Jin Ryu isn’t serious, but they’ve managed to hold off the Giants this long by finding ways to win thanks to some timely hitting.

5. St. Louis Cardinals (83-67)

The Cardinals have managed to fly under the radar for most of the season, but their magic number is just 10. Matt Holliday has been a disappointment this season but has gotten better of late. They need to keep their rotation healthy as concerns over Michael Wacha and John Lackey have popped up.

6. San Francisco Giants (82-67)

The Giants have done a terrific job of defending their home ballpark and needed to continue that in their weekend series with the Dodgers but instead they let that one slip through their fingers. Now, if they hope to pass them for the division lead, San Francisco will need help from the Rockies and Cubs. Yuck.

7. Detroit Tigers (83-66)

The Tigers needed to stomp out the Royals quickly to put some pressure on that inexperienced squad and they’ve done that on the back of a 5-1 homestand, regaining the division lead. The Tigers have taken care of business inside the division by going 8-2 against divisional foes in the month of September.

8. Oakland Athletics (83-66)

The Athletics hadn’t won back-to-back games in three weeks before turning the trick over the weekend. Their schedule is soft the rest of the way, but they need to get back to their winning ways with their lead in the Wild Card race dwindling.

9. Seattle Mariners (80-68)

The Mariners have made up a lot of ground in recent weeks but they need to keep playing well now to make good on that. Their schedule doesn’t do them any favors the rest of the way as they’ll head out on a tough road trip before returning home to close out the season against the Angels.

10. Kansas City Royals (81-67)

The Royals need to stay in the win column, but questions have arisen about their bullpen, which has been a strength all season. They get Danny Duffy back on Tuesday, but then have to face Chris Sale on Wednesday.

11. Pittsburgh Pirates (79-70)
12. Cleveland Indians (76-72)
13. Milwaukee Brewers (78-72)
14. New York Yankees (76-72)
15. Toronto Blue Jays (77-71)
16. Atlanta Braves (76-75)
17. Tampa Bay Rays (72-78)
18. Miami Marlins (72-76)
19. New York Mets (72-78)
20. Cincinnati Reds (71-79)
21. San Diego Padres (68-80)
22. Chicago White Sox (68-81)
23. Philadelphia Phillies (69-80)
24. Boston Red Sox (66-84)
25. Houston Astros (66-83)
26. Minnesota Twins (63-86)
27. Arizona Diamondbacks (61-88)
28. Colorado Rockies (59-90)
29. Chicago Cubs (65-84)
30. Texas Rangers (57-92)
