Two teams heading in opposite directions in the AL Central get ready to begin a 3 game set at Progressive Field in Monday. The visitors from Kansas City have put their mark on where they stand. Sitting in 1st place, 21 games over the .500 mark, they made the first big splash in the trade market by acquiring Johnny Cueto from the Reds.

As for the Indians, they were dominated and swept away over in a 4 game set against the White Sox and look poised to become sellers.

The Indians began this home stand last Thursday with aspirations of cutting the gap in the AL Wild Card race and possibly look to add a small piece. Now, after scoring just 5 runs and getting swept away, they are going to be looking to move a couple pieces prior to Friday’s deadline it seems.

However, following their lost Sunday afternoon, the Indians held a lengthy team meeting that was described by players in a very vulgar manner. With the AL Central pretty much out of reach and a 7.0 game gap between them and a Wild Card spot, it seems Cleveland will try and put together one last magical run to get back into this.
They’ll try to start that Monday with Cody Anderson on the mound. The rookie showed his first flash of struggles last time out against the Brewers. The RH lasted just 2.2 innings allowing 10 hits and 4 runs.
His numbers at home have been stellar as he’s allowed just one run in 14.1 innings pitched inside Progressive Field.
As for the Royals, they’ll look to just keep on chugging along as they send out RH Edinson Volquez. The Royals RH has gone 4 straight starts now of allowing 2 earned runs of less.
He turned in a win over Pittsburgh last time out allowing one run in 7.2 innings pitched.

He struggled against Cleveland back on May 7 as he walked 6 guys, but received a ND in the outing.
