For the second time in the 2015 season, the Royals and White Sox get set to begin a series with the White Sox hoping this time it will be a much different outcome. In the very first series of the year, Kansas City swept away Chicago and set them to an 0-3 start to the season. The White Sox will send ace Chris Sale to the mound in hopes of putting an end to the Sox struggles against one of the top teams in the AL Central.

Kansas City Royals

The Royals couldn’t complete the 3 game sweep of the Minnesota Twins as they come in after dropping the series finale 3-0 on get away day at home. Guthrie bobbed and weaved through five innings, but his 6 walks were just too much to overcome. Kansas City will now look to beat Chicago for the 4th time in as many chances this season as they swept them on opening week, outscoring them 21-7 in 3 games.

Kansas City will send the youngster, Yordano Ventura to the mound as he brings in a 2-1 record on the season. Ventura got the win on Opening Day as he went 6 innings of 4 hit, 1 run baseball en route to a 10-1 Royals win.

Ventura struggled mightily before being ejected from his last start as he went just 3.1 innings allowing 5 runs, all of them earned, as he hit the showers early for throwing at Brett Lawrie. Ventura was fined, but avoided suspension for his actions against Oakland.

Kansas City’s hot start has led them to an 11-4 record with a 4-1 record in series’ this season. Their lone series loss came in Minnesota after they took the opener.

The player to watch for Kansas City will be Alcides Escobar, who is hitting .444 against Chris Sale in his career.

Chicago White Sox

The White Sox have been battling a lot of inconsistency throughout their first 14 games of the season.

They do come in off a series win against division rival, Cleveland, that featured a lot of dramatics in game one, and a dominating pitching performance in game 3.

The White Sox will look to continue their winning ways as they send Chris Sale to the mound in the series opener vs. Kansas City.

Sale has been nearly unhittable in two starts against divisional opponents, Detroit and Minnesota.

In his first start against the Twins fresh off the DL, Sale went 6 innings allowing just 5 hits and 1 run. The White Sox went on to win 6-2.

In his second start, he got plenty of run support in a 12-3 win over the Tigers. Sale went 6 innings allowing 4 hits, and 2 runs.

In his career vs. Kansas City, Sale is 6-6 with a 2.61 ERA against them.
