The Giants are nestled in the final Wild Card spot in the NL. This is a great spot to add to their position with the last place Brewers visiting.

Milwaukee

By the end of the week the Brewers could look dramatically different as they are definitely in the category of seller. How that looms over the team is hard to tell given that they have started poorly and at no point offered hope of getting in the race.

Things might have sunk to a new low as they dropped 3 of 4 at Arizona over the weekend.

The last two were shutout and they only scored five runs over the four games against a team that is hardly loaded with pitchers. Not a good sign.

The Brewers would love to deal Kyle Lohse but who would want him – he has been terrible. Never one with overpowering stuff he had been able to have some success but this year he has been getting hit and hit hard.

He has already given up more home runs than he did a year ago and it looks like his run, if you can call it that is over.

I was never a fan so I am not dismayed at all.

San Francisco

The Giants are red hot right now. They have won five in a row and 11 of 12 and find themselves nipping at the heels of the Dodgers in the NL West.

Sort of like the Yankees I am a little surprised by their success. This is a high average hitting team without that one scary hitter but it ranks in 8th in runs scored. The staff is somewhat similar with only MadBum putting a scare into folks yet they are 12th in ERA.

They are supposed to take this year off (per their history) but look like they are heading back to the playoffs.

Rookie Christopher Heston has been amazing this season.

It seems like anyone can throw a no-hitter against the Mets but not that many rookies are as consistent as Heston. Starting with that gem against New York he has strung together eight starts without giving up more than 3ER. Also, he has given up only six home runs all season and three of those came in a game at Colorado.

The lanky righty is quickly developing a reputation.

MLB Betting Trends:

  • MIL are 3-9 in Lohses last 12 starts.
  • MIL are 3-9 in Lohses last 12 starts on grass.
  • Under is 5-2-1 in Lohses last 8 road starts.
  • SF are 11-1 in their last 12 overall.
  • SF are 11-1 in their last 12 games on grass.
  • Over is 16-7-1 in SF last 24 games following a win.

MLB Betting Prediction:   San Francisco -164

The Giants are definitely the choice tonight but there isn’t much value there.

MLB Score Prediction: San Francisco 5 – Milwaukee 3

Most of the games where Heston starts and is the favourite it is in the -120/-130 range. It might be a pass because you are not going to win much.
