The Tampa Bay Rays will aim to regain some momentum before the All Star Break when they host Houston on Friday for Game 1 of their three-game series in St. Petersburg.

The Astros (49-39) have fallen from grace as of late, dropping five of their last six, including the final three of a four-game series versus the Indians. The reason — a complete lack of offense.
Houston has only been able to muster three runs during its last three contests, and are among baseball’s worst hitting teams.

Tampa Bay’s (43-45) woes are even worse, as they have lost 11 of their last 12 contests, being swept by the Royals in four games in which they were outscored 33-16.
It’s been a free fall for the Rays who were leading the American League East before their current 3-15 slide.
Like the Astros, Tampa has had it offensive struggles, and owns the league’s second-worst batting average at .241. To make matters worse, the Rays pitching staff has fallen apart as well, as demonstrated in their series with Kansas City, were as a group they coughed up 52 hits to the Royals.
The Rays will try and stop that trend by sending Erasmo Ramirez to the hill on Friday.
The right-hander has put together a string of strong performances, allowing two or fewer runs in seven straight outings, including giving up one run in six innings last time out against the Yankees.
He is 1-1 with a 4.60 ERA in three appearances against the Astros.

Houston will counter with right-hander hander Collin McHugh who went 0-2 with a 2.45 ERA in two starts against the Rays last year.
He did however, see his three-start winning streak come to an end in Saturday’s 6-1 defeat at Boston.
The 28-year-old gave up four runs over 5 1/3 innings after posting a 2.45 ERA during his winning streak.
