Giants vs Dodgers Pick

MLB Baseball betting action sees the San Francisco Giants taking on the Los Angeles Dodgers Monday April 27th at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, CA. Cappers Picks provides free MLB Baseball handicapping tips all season long.

The reigning World Series champion Giants (8-11) are off to a poor start, but there’s something about the in-state rival Dodgers that brings out the best in them.

The G-Men hope starter Tim Lincecum and his teammates exhibit more of that tonight on the road.

Los Angeles leads the tight National League West division with an 11-7 record in the early going, but no club in the division has looked invincible so far.

The big-budget Dodgers have the advantage of the best starting pitching duo (Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke) in the major leagues, but they’ll look to tread water with the brittle Brett Anderson on Monday night.

Anderson has proven an intriguing pitcher for the Rockies and the Athletics – when he can stay on the field.

There are some hurlers – Texas’s Yu Darvish and San Diego’s Brandon Morrow, to name two – that have tantalizing ability yet become ham-strung by seemingly endless trips to the DL.

The Dodgers hope to reverse that trend in 2015 with Anderson.

San Fran starter Lincecum won his first game of the season last week against the Dodgers. The defending champs got off to a horrible start to the regular season, but have improved of late, winning five of their past seven ballgames – three against tonight’s opponent.

The Giants embody the term “plucky”. When you examine their roster and they don’t instill much fear in an opponent; 3B Pablo Sandoval bolting to Boston and little imposing in the rotation besides ace Madison Bumgarner, you’d think of them as an afterthought.

With three World Championships in the past five years, it couldn’t be further from the truth.

San Fran doesn’t quite have the budget of the Guggenheim and Magic Johnson-led boys clad in Dodger Blue, so it must rely on homegrown talents like 1B Brandon Belt and 2B Joe Panik stepping up this year.

Bumgarner is money and catcher Buster Posey needs no introduction, but the Giants are rather light on star power, especially with the San Diego Padres improving so much in the offseason.

San Francisco has no qualms playing the role of underdog.

Since his Cy Young performances a few years ago, lefty Lincecum has been feast-or-famine when he takes the mound. Perhaps a bit complacent after coming off a rain-out in Denver yesterday, as many times as people discount the G-Men, I will do so again, perhaps at my peril.

I see Lincecum coming down to Earth a bit, as the home team Dodgers get the bats going even without Cuban sensation OF Yasiel Puig.

4* FREE MLB Pick: Los Angeles 7, San Francisco 4

Look for 1B Adrian Gonzalez to rake and the hot start to continue for smooth-hitting 2B Howie Kendrick. I predict the Dodgers will take the opening game of this series at Chavez Ravine.
