White Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale will look to set an MLB record on Monday night, and he’ll do so with one of the franchise’s all-time great starters opposing him.

Sale can become the first player in MLB history to record at least 10 strikeouts in nine consecutive starts in Monday night’s series opener against the Blue Jays.

The southpaw is 3-2 with a 1.56 ERA in his last seven outings. In his last start, he gave up one run over eight innings of work in a 2-1, 11-inning victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. He struck out 12 in that one to match Pedro Martinez’s major league record of striking out at least 10 batters in eight consecutive starts. Sale’s 12.28 strike outs per nine innings leads the majors.

Buehrle comes to the Windy City in fine form himself. In his last six starts, Buehrle is 3-0 and sports a 1.67 ERA. He allowed one run on four hits over seven innings of work his last time out, helping the Blue Jays to an 11-2 win over the Boston Red Sox.

FREE Blue Jays vs. Tigers Pick:

With a pair of aces on the mound, and both in fine form, this shapes up to be a true pitchers’ duel. Since June 1, Sale sports a 1.83 ERA and 0.81 WHIP, while Buehrle’s numbers are just as impressive, as he has a 1.67 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. Even at a low number, the under is worth a look. Also, home-field advantage for the White Sox and the Blue Jays’ difficulty on the road makes Chicago worth a look.

MLB Betting Trends:

The Blue Jays are 2-5 in their last seven games overall, and they are 20-41 in their last 61 road games with the total set at 7-8.5.
The White Sox are 5-1 in their last six games as a favorite, and they are 12-3 in Sale’s last 15 Monday starts.

[dfads params=’groups=63745&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

The White Sox are 13-6 in Sale’s last 19 home starts, while the Blue Jays are 3-7 in the last 10 meetings between these teams in Chicago.
The under is 5-2-1 in Buehrle’s last eight starts with the total set at 7-8.5, and it is 6-1 in the White Sox last seven home games against a left-handed starters.
The under is 20-4-2 in the White Sox last 26 games as a favorite, and it is 25-7-1 in their last 33 home games.
The under is 4-0 in Sale’s last four home starts, and it is 5-0 in his last five starts when pitching in the opening game of a series.
