The Cardinals look to extend their league best win total with the Braves coming to town. St. Louis hardly ever loses at home.
Atlanta
The Braves are only five games under .500 but they seem pretty much out of it.

They have split their games since the break including taking two of three against L.A. but this team might be running on fumes.
They are in the bottom third of the league on offense and defense you have to think they might be looking to sell what few assets they have.

No clue why they wanted to pick up Nick Markakis this offseason. He is typical of their punchless lineup.
Once upon a time Manny Banuelos was a hot prospect.
His star kind of faded but he was sharp at Gwinnett this season and has been pretty good through a few starts and one relief appearance. He is just a little guy so you wonder what is the best role for his long term future.
Hig big thing is that he needs to watch his walks. Since he is not overpowering he has to be sharper with his command.
St. Louis
After stumbling into the break the Cards have surged after it.
They are 5-1 and riding a three game winning streak heading into this series. They continue to keep plugging guys in and getting results.
Still I think they need to make a move for a bat but you couldn’t argue with them if they decide to stand pat and play this thing out.
They have rebuilt their lead over Pittsburgh to six games and every time they get close they are able to build it back up again. That’s what good teams do.
The Cards have the top ERA in the Majors even though they have been relying on guys like Tim Cooney.
Cooney has not been bad but they were not expecting him to be part of the rotation this season.
Amazingly even though the Cardinals seem to win every game Cooney does not even have a decision this season.

The Cards are just 1-4 in his starts. Though I am not sure there are any definite situations to fade this team.
