The Reds (12-14) beat the Cubs (8-17) in game one on Tuesday, 3-2, in a rainy contest.

The speedy Billy Hamilton clubbed his first major-league home run and starter Alfredo Simon pitched six strong innings striking out five and giving up p two runs on five hits
Hamilton went 3-for-4 for the Reds, while shortstop Starlin Castro knocked in both Chicago runs.

In an exact pitching rematch of April 19, when the Cubs pounded the Reds 8-2, Chicago will hand the ball to veteran right-hander Edwin Jackson.

The 30-year-old is 1-0 against the Reds over his 13 year MLB career and is coming off his second loss of the season in which he surrendered three earned runs over seven innings in a 5-2 loss to Arizona on April 24.

The Reds will counter with starter Tony Cingrani, Hamilton’s teammate at single-A Bakersfield, who is 2-2, with a 2.86 ERA on the year.

The lefthander is coming off a 2-1 win over the Pirates his last time out, giving up four hits and one earned run with seven strikeouts, stretched over six innings on the mound.

The 24-year-old will hope he can carry that momentum ingot game two, avoiding his second straight poor putting against the Cubs.

Cingrani is 1-2 with a 4.39 ERA versus Chicago over in fie career starts, but came out on the losing end after exiting in the fifth, giving up 3 ER in his last start versus the Cubs.

The series, which was supposed to originally be a there-game set which got rained out on Monday, endured three rain delays on Tuesday, which included a stoppage od play for 71 minutes with two outs in the bottom of the sixth.

Cubs manager Rick Renteria was ejected for the second time this season after arguing balls and strikes with home plate umpire Alan Porter later in the inning, while the Reds improved to 4-9 in one-run games.

1. Reds 1B Joey Votto has seven hits in his last 10 at-bats against Jackson, including two home runs, after going hitless in his first eight at-bats versus the right-hander.
2. Cubs RHP Jake Arrieta will come off the disabled list and join the rotation Saturday against St. Louis with RHP Carlos Villanueva returning to the bullpen.
3. Cincinnati RHP Jonathan Broxton has been nearly flawless while filling in for injured closer Aroldis Chapman, going 5-for-5 in save chances and allowing three hits and three walks over six scoreless innings.
