MLB Betting Parlay – Marlins vs. Phillies + Giants vs. Rockies

MLB Betting Previews- Wednesday, April 11 Parlay

The 2012 MLB regular season enters its second week and while there is a very long way to go in a 162-game season, it has already had its fair share of surprises with a couple of favorites struggling out of the gate.

There are no surprises here as we have uncovered a solid two-team parlay for Wednesday’s slate of games.

Game 1- Miami Marlins (2-3) vs. Philadelphia Phillies (1-3)
Money Line: Miami +155 Philadelphia -165
Total Line: 6

Miami will be without its new skipper Ozzie Guillen for awhile as he serves-out a five-game team suspension for some off-color comments he made, but it will have Josh Johnson back on the mound in this game. He got rocked around in the Marlin’s season opener last week against St. Louis; giving-up three runs on 10 hits in six innings of work. Lifetime against the Phillies he is 5-3 with a 3.16 ERA.

Philadelphia will try and double its current win total with the same pitcher that helped it win its first game of the new season. Roy Halladay will be making his second start of the season coming off an opening-day gem in which he pitched eight scoreless innings against Pittsburgh last Thursday. He is 4-3 against the Marlins with an ERA of 2.51.

The Phillies won last season’s series 12-6 and went 7-2 against Miami at home. The combination of the past series trends and Halladay on the mound make the front-end of this parlay a no-brainer with Philly getting the win. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Game 2- San Francisco Giants (1-3) vs. Colorado Rockies (1-3)
Money Line: San Francisco +105 Colorado -115
Total Line: 6.5

Barry Zito blanked the Rockies 7-0 on Monday in Colorado’s home opener and on Wednesday night it will be Tim Lincecum’s chance to try and shut the Rockies down. The Giants’ ace lost his opening day start against Arizona last Thursday after getting tagged for two home runs in the first inning and two more runs in the sixth. It highly doubtful that Lincecum will bet bounced-around in two straight starts and it also helps that he has a lifetime ERA against Colorado of just 3.27.

Jeremy Guthrie showed some veteran poise after giving-up two home runs to Houston in the fourth inning of his first start by hanging around through seven innings to grind-out the win. This will be his first start at Coors Field and just his second career start against the Giants.

San Francisco is 5-0 in its last road games against the Rockies and 18-6 in its last 24 games against them overall. Stick with Lincecum to come through with a solid outing to hammer-home the back-end of this parlay with a Giants’ win.
