MLB Betting Parlay – Twins vs. Pirates, Marlins vs. Red Sox

MLB Betting Previews- Tuesday, June 19 Parlay

The final week of the 2012 MLB regular season Interleague schedule gets underway this Monday and Tuesday with a fresh set of three-game series between the American and National Leagues.

Successfully handicapping these games can sometimes be a challenge with starting pitchers sometimes facing unfamiliar batting lineups.

While this unpredictability makes for a more risky proposition when it comes to wagering on the games, we have dug deep into all pertinent stats and information available for the pitching matchups on Tuesday’s slate of games and uncovered a two-team parlay that promises to get this week off to a great start.

Game 1- Minnesota Twins vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
Money Line: Minnesota +130 Pittsburgh -145
Total Line: 8

Minnesota will look to Scott Diamond the help gain the early edge in this series as its starter for Tuesday night’s Game 1. The left-hander gave-up four earned runs on five hits last Thursday in a loss to Philadelphia to snap of streak of four-straight quality starts. He is 5-2 in eight previous outings with an ERA of 2.13 and a 1.18 WHIP.

The Pirates will go with Kevin Correia has their starter for Tuesday night. This right-hander is 2-6 on the season with a 4.43 ERA. He gave-up a season-high 10 hits his last time out after struggling with control issues. He has surrendered seven earned runs on 18 hits in his last two starts.

The Twins are 8-3 in their last 11 road games against a right-handed starter and 5-1 in the last six meetings between the two. The total has stayed in four of the last five games played in Pittsburgh. Stick with Diamond to return to form to help Minnesota notch a must needed win in the front-end of this parlay. Game 2- Miami Marlins vs. Boston Red Sox
Money Line: Miami +125 Boston -135
Total Line: 7.5

Miami continues to fade in the NL East with just two wins in its last 10 games, but it will go with Mark Buehrle to try and get off to a fast start against the Red Sox. The left-hander is 5-7 in 13 previous starts with a 3.41 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. Buehrle is 6-7 lifetime against Boston with a 4.37 ERA.

Clay Buchholz is expected to get the start for Boston. The right-hander has gone 3-0 with a 1.45 ERA in his last four starts. He held the Marlins to just one run in seven innings when he faced them last Tuesday. Buchholz has now given-up a total of five earned runs in his last four starts.

The Marlins are 2-11 in their last 13 games against the AL East, while the Red Sox are 8-3 in Buchholz’s last 11 starts at home and 22-7 in his last 29 starts in the first game of a new series. This could end-up as a low scoring affair given the quality form of both starters, but stick with Boston to draw first blood to fill-in the back-end of this parlay.
