Thursday MLB Betting Parlay – Rays vs. Angels, Phillies vs. Brewers

MLB Betting Previews- Thursday, August 16 Parlay

As the dog days of summer wear on, all six MLB division races continue to remain too close to call. Every game from here on in could ultimately have an impact on the final playoff picture in both leagues.

After carefully analyzing the pitching matchups for Thursday’s slate of games, we have uncovered a golden opportunity for a two-team parlay.

Game 1: Philadelphia Phillies vs. Milwaukee Brewers
Money Line: Philadelphia +105 Milwaukee -110
Total Line: 8

Matchup | Preview

Philadelphia continues to struggle through a lost season but will try and get this series off to a positive start with Cliff Lee on the mound. He remains winless at home this season, but has pitched much better on the road. Overall, the left-hander is 2-7 with a 3.85 ERA.

Marco Estrada is winless in 14 starts this season, but will try and snap this losing streak on Thursday night. The right-hander allowed five runs in just four innings in a July 25th loss to Philadelphia. He is 0-5 overall with an ERA of 4.36.

The Phillies are 7-3 in Lee’s last 10 starts in Game 1 of a series and 10-3 in his last 13 starts against the NL Central.

The Brewers are 1-8 in their last nine games against the NL East. Count on Philadelphia to run its record to 8-1 in its last nine games in Milwaukee with a win on Thursday in the front half of this parlay.   [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Game 2: Tampa Bay Rays vs. Los Angeles Angels
Money Line: Tampa Bay -120 Los Angeles +105
Run Line: 7

Matchup | Preview

Tampa Bay will go with David Price as its starter for Game 1 of this series. The left-hander is 15-4 on the year with a stellar 2.50 ERA. He has not given-up more than three earned runs in his last 10 starts and has an overall WHIP of 1.12. Price is 3-2 with a 3.48 ERA against the Angels.

Los Angeles will look to Dan Haren to help it gain the early edge in this four-game weekend set. He is coming off a rough outing against Seattle this past Saturday in which he gave-up seven runs in 3 1/3 innings.

Overall, the right-hander is 8-9 with a 4.68 ERA. Haren is 7-3 against the Rays with an ERA of 2.60.

The Rays are 5-1 in Price’s last six starts on the road and 9-2 in his last 11 starts against a team with a winning record. Los Angeles is 2-6 in its last eight games against a team with a winning record. Tampa Bay has won eight of the last nine meetings and is 4-1 in Price’s last five starts against the Angels.

Stick with the recent trends all the way in this contest as the Rays lock-up the back-end of this parlay with a win.
