NFL Week 1 The Over/Under Recap
With San Diego’s come from behind victory over the Raiders last night we can now close the book on week 1 in the NFL.
From a scoring standpoint there were some surprising scores, close calls, and some last minute heroics that shaped the outcome of many of the Over/Unders.
The following is a recap of each game’s The Over/Under NFL betting line and the actual results.
Tennessee Titans @ Pittsburgh Steelers
The Over/Under Was Set At… 35 || Total- 23 UNDER
Both these teams’ defenses came to play as every point scored was earned the hard way. The Steelers’ offense got it done when it mattered the most.
Miami Dolphins @ Atlanta Falcons
The Over/Under Was Set At… 44 || Total- 26 UNDER
Miami shot themselves in the foot with four turnovers that led to nine of Atlanta’s 19 points. Neither team looked all that great on the offensive side of the ball.
Kansas City Chiefs@ Baltimore Ravens
The Over/Under Was Set At… 36 || Total-62 OVER
The Chiefs showed some heart scoring 17 points against a stingy Raven defense. Baltimore’s offense appears they are going to open things up a bit this season.
Philadelphia Eagles@ Carolina Panthers
The Over/Under Was Set At… 43.5 || Total- 48 OVER
Jake Delhomme picked up where he left off last season throwing 4 interceptions that led to 24 points for the Eagles.
Denver Broncos@ Cincinnati Bengals
The Over/Under Was Set At… 43 || Total-19 UNDER
While the last minute touchdown on a tipped pass had no impact on the The Over/Under Was Set At… it did rip the hearts out of the Bengal faithful.
Minnesota Vikings @ Cleveland Browns
The Over/Under Was Set At… 40 || Total- 54 OVER
Minnesota could have probably covered the over by themselves, but Cleveland helped seal it with a 67 yard punt return.
New York Jets @ Houston Texans
The Over/Under Was Set At… 44 || Total- 31 UNDER
Jets QB Mark Sanchez played very well in his first NFL start, the Houston offense did not with only 183 total yards.
Jacksonville Jaguars@ Indianapolis Colts
The Over/Under Was Set At… 45 || Total-26 UNDER
Manning threw for over 300 yards but it didn’t add up to a lot of points. The Colts defense was the star of the game.
Detroit Lions@ New Orleans Saints
The Over/Under Was Set At… 49 || Total- 72 OVER
Dallas Cowboys@ Tampa Bay Buccanneers
The Over/Under Was Set At… 39.5 || Total-54 OVER
Tony Romo and the Cowboy’s offense looked good racking up 34 points in the win over Tampa. All three of his touchdown passes were over 40 yards.
San Francisco 49er’s @ Arizona Cardinals
The Over/Under Was Set At… 46 || Total-36 UNDER
It looks like the Super Bowl loss is still having an effect on the Cardinal’s offense as penalties and turnovers cost them the game.
Washington Redskins @ New York Giants
The Over/Under Was Set At… 37 || Total- 40 OVER
Washington scored a touchdown with less than 2 minutes to go ruining a perfectly good under.
St. Louis Rams @ Seattle Seahawks
The Over/Under Was Set At… 41 || Total-28 UNDER
The Rams were shutout as Seattle held them to only 247 yards of total offense. The Seahawks’ offense on the other hand appears to back on track racking up 446 yards on St.Louis.
Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers
The Over/Under Was Set At… 46.5 Total 36 UNDER
This was not the start the Bears envisioned for their season. Jay Cutler was intercepted four times and LB Brian Urlacher was lost for the season with a dislocated wrist.
Buffalo Bills @ New England Patriots
The Over/Under Was Set At… 47 || Total- 49 OVER
You have to give the Bills all the credit in the world for standing in there toe to toe with the Patriots. Unfortunately, bad teams often find a way to lose.
San Diego Chargers @ Oakland Raiders
The Over/Under Was Set At…43 || Total-44 OVER
A heart breaker for the Raiders’ fans and for anyone else hanging onto the under as San Diego pulls this one out with a last minute touchdown.
In case you weren’t counting, 8 games went over and 8 games went under just like they draw them up at odds making school.
As far as some insight for next week, do not under estimate any team’s ability to score points no matter how bad they look on paper.
