Sunday NFL Betting – Eagles Aim To Exact Revenge For Vick

How Can Atlanta Win?

Pound the ball with Michael Turner.

There’s no question that the Atlanta Falcons are a much better team at home than on the road, but there is also no question about the fact that the Falcons are tough to beat regardless of where they play when Turner is running well.

While the Falcons offense gets most of the attention and praise, take a look at what their defense has done this year. They have registered 11 sacks, which is sixth most in the NFC, and they lead the league with 10 interceptions. They have held opposing quarterbacks to a 72.5 passer rating and have scored a whopping 36 points this year off of turnovers.

Head coach Mike Smith deserves credit as his Falcons are finally a balanced team.

While many bettors are playing the sentimental card in Vick’s favor, keep in mind that Philadelphia is the hometown of Matt Ryan and he will also aim to put on a show in front of a large section of friends and family.

How Can Philadelphia Win?

Play smart and feed off of their crowd.

Kevin Kolb has made two appearances in front of the Eagles fans and both times fans were grumbling. If he plays like he did last week – 21-of-31, 253 yards and a touchdown – the Eagles should be tough to stop.

Whether it’s been Vick or Kolb, the Eagles haven’t turned over the ball very much. They’ve thrown one interception this season and that was on a hail mary. It will make the Falcons job much tougher this week if they don’t get turnovers as the Falcons have been feasting on mistakes all year long.

The Falcons offense likes to K.I.M – as they call it: Keep It Moving. They are a slow-prodding unit that converts a lot of third downs and keeps the clock moving. On the flip side, the Eagles have more explosive players in DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin. If Kolb can get them involved, the Eagles should be able to play with the lead.

On defense, if they can get off the field on third downs, they’ll be just fine in this contest as the Falcons don’t eat up big chunks of yardage very often.

Outlook

The Eagles have some injury concerns, such as the loss of starting left tackle Jason Peters, but the difference in this contest will be home field advantage. The Falcons are playing their second straight away from home and that’s going to fact.

Eagles head coach Andy Reid is 7-1 against the Falcons and while most of that damage was done against Vick, his game plans seem to work very well against Atlanta.

Bet the Eagles to get some revenge for Vick and win by a field goal this Sunday.

One reply on “Falcons vs. Eagles: Week 6 NFL Lines & Spread Prediction”

The Eagles have had good success against Atlanta and the spread reflects that but don’t discount this year’s Atlanta Falcons. They are arguably one of the best teams in the league at 4-1. The key to this game will be Kevib Kolb. Will he have another good outing or bust like his first start? It doesn’t look like Vick will get to play against his former team but if Kolb can air it out and the Eagles D stops the run, they should win.
