NBA Sports Betting – Teams to bet AGAINST

The regular season of the NBA online betting season is halfway done, and the following teams have been ice cold for NBA bettors at BetUS Sportsbook over the last week of action:

(RANK) (TEAM) (SU RECORD) (ATS RECORD) (ATS RECORD L/5 -$$)

1) Phoenix Suns (23-16) (13-23-1 ATS) (0-5 ATS L/5 -$550): It was a brutal week for NBA betting backers of the Phoenix Suns who failed to cover any of their games last week, and started off this weeks action with a terrible losing effort against the Boston Celtics. Their poor display on the court over the last week+ worth of action now finds them installed as the worst pro basketball bet in the NBA throughout the first half of the regular season schedule. That’s right, #30 of 30 overall teams! I guess D’Antoni roaming the sideline was just as much a part of the Suns success over the L/5 years as Nash and company were on the court. They’ll look to put an end to their coverless streak on the road this week with games slated to go against Eastern Conference representatives New York, Charlotte, and Atlanta.

2) Memphis Grizzlies (11-29) (15-24-1 ATS) (0-5 ATS L/5 -$550): Posted last week: Memphis has fared better ATS at home this season (10-9 ATS), but gets the tall chore of hosting Cleveland, Utah, and Detroit to try and put an end to their three-game losing streak this week. Their sports betting losing streak now sits at six straight defeats after the Grizzlies failed to win or cover against the Cavaliers, Jazz, and Pistons. After getting off to a solid start against the NBA pointspread, the Grizzlies have managed just three ATS wins in their last 13 overall games played. Their ineptitude on the offensive end of the court continues to hamper their middle of the road defense, and the Grizz are dropping games left and right because of it. It’ll be a tough chore to break out of their offensive doldrums against the defensive minded Charlotte Bobcats on 1/21, but look for them to spur the demons to close out the week against the Knicks and Nets who play more of a matador type defense.

3) San Antonio Spurs (27-13) (18-21-1 ATS) (1-4 ATS L/5 -$340): It’s strange seeing a division leader on this list, but nonetheless, that’s exactly where the Spurs find themselves after churning out a poor 1-3 ATS mark last week. Oh yeah, the lone cover came against a Chicago Bulls team that handed the game away in the closing minutes like they’ve done all season long; it was a gift cover! Their 18-21-1 ATS mark is good for the #18 slot in the 2008-09 ATS rankings. Surprisingly, the Spurs have been a much better wager for NBA bettors on the road than at home this year. They’re 12-6 SU and 10-8 ATS as a visitor, but just 15-7 SU and 8-13-1 ATS at home. They split their two home games SU last week against the Magic and Lakers, but failed to cover either game as three-point home favorites. Timmy D and company will look to get back in the good graces of its betting backers with a pair of home games against Indiana and New Jersey before hitting the road to meet up with the Lakers to close out this week’s slate of action.

4) Detroit Pistons(23-17) (17-23 ATS) (1-4 ATS L/5 -$340): The Pistons were outscored by an average of 91-86 in its last six games, and because of it, only managed a 1-5 SU and ATS mark during that stretch. They did put a halt to their five game SU & ATS losing streak their last time out against Memphis, but you’ll notice the Grizzlies on this list as well. They’ll look to get back in the good graces of the betting public for the remainder of this week with three games slated to go against Toronto, Dallas, and Houston. Detroit’s a respectable 12-7 SU at home this year, but they’ve lacked in the pointspread department covering just six of those games.

And the rest….

5) Washington Wizards (8-32) (16-24 ATS) (1-4 ATS L/5 -$340):

6) New Jersey Nets (19-22) (21-20 ATS) (1-4 ATS L/5 -$340):
