NBA: Phoenix at L.A. Lakers
Staples Center, Los Angeles
Thursday, 10:30 p.m. ET, TNT
Phoenix: 31-24 SU, 20-32-2 ATS, Over 32-22
Los Angeles: 46-10 SU, 29-247 ATS, Over 34-21-1
It’s been an eventful week for the Suns. They’re 3-1 SU and ATS in four games since Alvin Gentry took over as head coach, with all four games sailing over the posted total. Phoenix also lost Amare Stoudemire (detached retina) for eight weeks, prompting Gentry to go small with Leandro Barbosa starting at the two-spot and Jason Richardson moving over to the three. The Lakers have so much depth even without Andrew Bynum that they were able to trade 7-foot center Chris Mihm to Memphis for a bag of donuts. Los Angeles has won four in a row since the All-Star break, but dropped the cash in the last two.

NCAAB: Connecticut at Marquette
Bradley Center, Milwaukee
Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN
Connecticut: 25-2 SU, 10-11 ATS, Under 14-7
Marquette: 23-4 SU, 11-10-1 ATS, Under 12-10-1
The Huskies fell from the No. 1 spot in the polls after losing 76-68 at home to Pittsburgh (+2.5). They took out their frustrations on Saturday against South Florida (+20), but again failed to reach the pay window in a 64-50 victory. That’s 1-4 ATS for UConn in the past five games. Marquette (also 1-4 ATS in its last five) is undefeated at home at 16-0 SU and 5-5-1 ATS; the Huskies make most of their money on the road, where they’re undefeated as well at 8-0 SU and 5-2 ATS. The diminutive Eagles give up a lot of height to 7-foot-3 Hasheem Thabeet and the Huskies in this matchup.

NBA: Detroit at Boston
TD Banknorth Garden, Boston
Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET, ABC
Detroit: 27-27 SU, 20-34 ATS, Under 31-22-1
Boston: 46-12 SU, 33-25 ATS, Under 31-26-1
The Celtics are 2-0 SU and ATS since Kevin Garnett strained his right knee; the first game (which went over) was against the Stoudemire-less Suns, and the second (which went under) was against a Denver team that was without starting center Nene. The Pistons are healthy, but they’re playing like they’re missing somebody important (Chauncey Billups, perhaps), losing their last six in a row SU and ATS. Detroit is 3-10 SU and 2-11 ATS this past month, and now that the trade deadline is over, the uninspired Pistons veterans could be on a sleigh ride out of the playoff picture.
