NFL Gambling trends:

St. Louis is 4-1-1 ATS in its last 6 games when playing Oakland
The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Oakland’s last 7 games when playing St. Louis
The total has gone OVER in 4 of Oakland’s last 6 games
Oakland is 8-17 ATS in its last 25 games at home
Oakland is 1-4 SU in its last 5 games

In one of the most anticipated match ups early this season the 0-1 Oakland Raiders host the 0-1 St. Lois Rams. OK, maybe highly anticipated is a tad of an understatement, as these 2 teams have been couple of the worst teams in the NFL for the last few years.

The Raiders are looking to avoid their 6th consecutive opening season home loss while the Rams look to avoid their 10th loss in a row. Well, something’s gotta give for this game, as one team has to win.

Oakland had high, well at least higher, expectations coming into this season with a new defense and a new QB, but it was the same old Raiders in week 1, as they were killed on the road and did not look good on either side of the ball. The Raiders have lost at least 11 games in 7 straight seasons and it may be 8 seasons unless they play much better than they did last week.

St. Louis has a grand total of 6 wins in the last 3 seasons, but there is cause for optimism, as they did not get killed last week and rookie QB Sam Bradford had a decent debut.

The Rams have lost 12 straight games against teams in the AFC.

Last week the Raiders were killed 38-13 by the Tennessee Titans and the Rams lost to the Arizona Cardinals 17-13.

Both teams are 0-1 ATS heading into this game.

The Jason Campbell era in Oakland did not get off to a good start, as the former Redskins QB was 22/37 for only 180 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT in the season opening loss. He was sacked 4 times against the Titans and the Raiders’ offensive line has to protect him in this game and that may be easier since the Rams do not have a great pass rush.

The Raiders need some WR’s to step up in this game and in the loss to the Titans the wide-outs only had 58 receiving yards. They will be matched up with a St. Louis secondary that that gave up 266 yards through the air last week. Football betting

One bright spot for the Raiders was their rushing offense led by Darren McFadden, who had 95 yards averaging a solid 5.3 yards per carry and he also caught 6 passed for 55 yards and 1 TD. The Rams’ defense has to key on him and they also have to get to Campbell, who tends to struggle when under pressure from the defense.

Rams’ QB Sam Bradford was 32/55 for 253 yards and 1 TD in the loss to the Cardinals, but he was picked off 3 times. 2 of his 3 picks were very costly, as they came in the 4th quarter.

Bradford may have found a solid new #1 target, as ex Baltimore WR Mark Clayton caught 10 passed for 119 yards in the loss to Arizona.

RB Steven Jackson rushed for 81 yards in the loss to Arizona, but he only averaged 3.7 yards per carry. However, he may put up some big numbers against a Raiders’ run defense that gave up 205 rushing yards to Tennessee last week. Jackson did not practice much this week with a knee issue, but he should be ready to go in this game and the Rams will need him.

On the injury front CB Justin King and WR Laurent Robinson are questionable for the Rams and RB Michael Bush, WR Chaz Schilens, DE Richard Seymour, and WR Yamon Figurs are all questionable for the Raiders.

Both teams have issues on both sides of the ball, but the Raiders will get a good game from Campbell, as he will be given time to find his targets. Look for Oakland to snap their consecutive home opener losing streak, as they will win this game and cover the spread.

Pick: Raiders -3.5
