Preview and Week 16 NFL cappers matchup tips for this weeks New Orleans Saints vs. Detriot Lions matchup, plus an NFL Betting Preview, a look at the gambling trends, and a free pick…

NFL Odds Saints @ Lions

The New Orleans Saints (7-7 SU, 9-4-1 ATS, 9-4-1 O/U) saw their playoff hopes take a huge hit with a crushing loss in Week 15. The Detroit Lions (0-14 SU, 6-8 ATS, 9-4-1 O/U) remained winless following their loss on Sunday, but actually put up a pretty good fight before falling.

Now, the Saints will try to finish out their regular season strong while keeping the Lions winless when the teams meet at Ford Field on Sunday.

New Orleans went to overtime against the Chicago Bears in Week 15, but fell 27-24 as 3-point road underdogs.

“It’s frustrating for everybody,” said running back Reggie Bush, who will miss the remainder of the regular season after injuring his knee in the first half.

Quarterback Drew Brees completed 24 of 43 passes for 232 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions while running back Pierre Thomas ran for 87 yards and one touchdown while catching seven passes with a touchdown in the loss.

“Every time we’ve played them we’ve been in a similar situation,” Brees said. “They’ve gotten the best of us.”

The Lions got off to a positive start but lost to the Indianapolis Colts 31-21, but managed to cover the spread as a 17-point road underdog in the BetUS Sportsbook last week.

“We’re getting better,” Lions head coach Rod Marinelli said. “We’ve got to keep working hard, find a way to win. If I could do anything different to get a win, whether it’s our first game or 50th game, I would do it.”

Quarterback Dan Orlovsky completed 23 of 34 passes for 233 yards with one touchdown, hooking up with spectacular wide receiver Calvin Johnson nine times for 110 yards and a touchdown.

“No one wants to be part of that. No one wants to have their name involved with that,” quarterback Dan Orlovsky said. “It’s tough to swallow, everybody says we stink. We don’t have much debate with that.”

Analysis: There is absolutely no way at all the Saints lose this game or fail to cover the spread for backers with their playoff hopes hanging by a thread. New Orleans has one of the best offenses in all of football and will put up their share of points in routing the Lions in this contest.
