NFL Week 17 Betting Chiefs @ Bengals

The Kansas City Chiefs (2-13 SU, 8-7 ATS, 8-7 O/U) have dropped three straight games in horrific fashion in the BetUS Sportsbook and likely can’t wait for their 2008 regular season to come to an end at this point. The Cincinnati Bengals (3-11-1 SU, 6-9 ATS, 5-9-1 O/U) may have won just three games this season, but have won two of those in the last two weeks as they finish up their 2008 regular season strong.

The Chiefs lost to Miami 38-31 while failing to cover the spread for NFL sports betting backers as a 3.5-point home underdog in the BetUS Sportsbook last week.

Quarterback Tyler Thigpen completed 20 of 41 passes for 320 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions for Kansas City and head case running back Larry Johnson rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.

“A lot of coaches in a situation like this would be looking for the door, would be looking for a way out,” Pro Bowl guard Brian Waters said. “Herm’s right there in the front, ready to take on all comers.”

The Bengals defeated the Cleveland Browns 14-0 in Week 16, covering the spread for backers as a 2-point road underdog last week.

Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick passed for only 55 yards with one touchdown for Cincinnati but running back Cedric Benson had his best game as a pro, rushing for 171 yards on 38 carries in the win.

“It feels awesome,” said Benson, who was released by the Bears in June following two bogus offseason arrests initiated by overzealous Texas police. “That was some smash-mouth football right there. When you can run the ball like that, it’s a momentum builder. It says a lot for your guys. It’s a big statement. It also gets the defense wondering what’s going on. It wears them down.”

NFL Odds

Kansas City Chiefs +3 -120
Cincinnati Bengals -3 -120

Over 37½ -110
Under 37½ -110

Analysis: I can honestly say that both of these teams have played hard for their respective head coaches all season long despite their trials and tribulations. In the end though, I like the Bengals to close out their season with three straight wins.
