NBA | Mar 07, 2011
Dallas Mavericks vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
Play: 1 Unit Dallas Mavericks -7-110
We all know all the attention in the NBA this year is focused on the problems of the presumed finalists, Miami and the Lakers, and others have marveled at the Spurs’ consistency, but I want you to all sit up and take notice of what the Mavs and operation under the radar have been doing this year. Mavericks backers this season have been able to make a tidy profit – Dallas is 34-25-2 against the number, and have covered 7 of the last 9. Bettors should not be afraid of the Mavs playing the second straight night. Dallas won the first meeting 100-86 on Dec. 1. The Mavericks have won 16 of the last 17 games with the Timberwolves, including 19 of the last 21. Minnesota last won at home 91-78 on Jan. 4, 2006. Some trends I like for this one include, Mavericks are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games playing on 0 days rest and are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game. Timberwolves are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600, and are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record, and are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game.

Virginia Commonwealth vs. Old Dominion
Play: 1 Unit Old Dominion -4½-110
This is a good situation for Old Dominion which caught a big break yesterday with George Mason losing to VCU. This is not saying that VCU is a bad and will be a pushover but the Monarchs struggled in their last game against the Patriots and it could have been another struggle tonight as well. Instead they face the Rams who they defeated by 11 points at VCU in the last meeting and they are riding an eight-game winning steaks heading into this championship game. VCU is coming off a huge upset as it defeated George Mason by 16 points as five-point underdogs. That does two things for us here. It provides excellent line value and well as letting us play the bounce angle. This is different than a letdown situation because since it is a championship game, there should be no letdown and if there it, too bad for the Rams and better for us. The bounce angle basically is a play that goes opposite of what happened last game and that is a complete Rams domination. Old Dominion handled Hofstra Sunday 77-69, in a game that actually wasn’t as close as the score indicated. It can be argued that the Monarchs fall into the bounce angle as well as they shot 57.1 percent from the floor however we are not dealing with a team that won by a large margin which gives it a better opportunity to put together another strong effort. Both teams have been solid on a neutral floor this season but it is hard to go against the fact that Old Dominion is a perfect 5-0 in such games this season. While the Rams are coming off that big win, they have not been playing exceptionally good as the win snapped a 5-0 ATS run in conference games. They are also just 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against teams with a winning record while Old Dominion is 3-0-1 ATS in its last four games against teams with a winning record while also going 5-1-1 ATS in its last seven games following a win. The Monarchs came into the season as the preseason favorites to win the CAA and they get the automatic bid tonight. 3* (516) Old Dominion Monarchs

Monday NBA Betting
The NBA has seven games on tap for Monday, with Portland at Orlando, the Clippers at Charlotte, New Orleans at Chicago, Dallas at Minnesota, Oklahoma City at Memphis, Houston at Sacramento, and Utah at New York. IN NBA news today Milwaukee Bucks forward Corey Maggette will have an MRI on his right knee Monday, the Racine Journal-Times reported. Charlotte Bobcats coach Paul Silas called out forward Boris Diaw for a lack of energy and production. The Utah Jazz will be extremely shorthanded for Monday’s game vs. the New York Knicks. Frontcourt players Mehmet Okur, Francisco Elson and Kyrylo Fesenko are out with injuries and forwards Paul Millsap and Andrei Kirilenko are game-time decisions. Millsap has a knee injury and Kirilenko has been bothered by back spasms. The Miami Heat’s late-game struggles and surprising losing streak continued with Sunday’s 87-86 loss to the Chicago Bulls, Miami’s fourth straight defeat and fifth in their last six games.
Monday CBB Betting
there are eight games on the college hoops slate for Monday, with semifinal matchups in the Summit League and Sun Belt conference tournaments, and championship games in the Colonial Athletic, Metro Atlantic, Southern, and West Coast conference events. Sportsbooks will have all the latest matchups and odds for the night. IN CBB news today The Ohio State Buckeyes wrapped up the regular-season Big Ten Conference title and also took a commanding hold over the No. 1 ranking in the ESPN/USA Today basketball poll for the week ending March 6. Pat Knight, the son of legendary Bob Knight, was fired Monday as Texas Tech men’s basketball coach, the school announced. Four automatic NCAA Tournament bids will be on the line in conference championship games Monday.
The most intriguing contest may be the Colonial Athletic Association championship in Richmond, where fourth-seeded host school Virginia Commonwealth (23-10) faces second-seeded Old Dominion (26-6). The Rams bounced top seed George Mason and could give the CAA three teams in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in league history if they win Monday.
Monday NHL Hockey Betting
There are three games on the NHL’s Monday schedule, with Columbus at St. Louis, Dallas at Los Angeles, and Washington at Tampa Bay. IN NHL news today Calgary Flames right wing Jarome Iginla topped the NHL’s weekly list of Three Stars for the period ending Sunday. Calgary Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff has started 20 straight games and may be the primary reason for the team’s rise in the Western Conference standings. The Buffalo Sabres, clinging to the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, got a little banged up over the weekend.
