Longhorns, Yellow Jackets fighting for bowl lives

The NCAA College Football regular season is officially in the stretch drive and there are a number of teams fighting not just for a spot in a Bowl Championship Series Bowl game, but in any bowl game.

Among those teams struggling for postseason life are the Texas Longhorns, who weren’t just in a BCS bowl game last season, they were in the BCS Championship Game, losing 37-21 to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Texas (4-6 SU, 2-8 ATS) definitely will not be defending its Big 12 conference title and will be hard-pressed to get into the bowl season, as NCAA rules prohibit any team with a sub-.500 record from playing in a bowl game.

The Longhorns need a win over the Florida Atlantic Owls on Saturday, and will have to then turn around and beat the No. 18 Texas A&M Aggies the following week.

Texas is a 21-point favorite in NCAAF Lines at betED.com.

Texas hasn’t missed playing a bowl game since the 1997 season.

Another 2009 conference champion in danger of not playing in late December or early January are the defending ACC champion Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Tech is in a slightly better position to qualify for a bowl game at 5-5 SU (3-4 ATS).

The Yellow Jackets host the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday, with Georgia Tech a 12-point favorite in NCAA Football Odds.

Other teams on the bowl bubble are the Georgia Bulldogs, Oregon State Beavers, and Pittsburgh Panthers.

Check out NCAAF Odds for all the Week 12 matchups at betED.com.

NFL Betting: Week 6 Betting Preview

Don’t panic. The sky is not falling on the NFL just because Super Bowl contenders like the Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings are struggling below .500. It’s only been five weeks since the regular season started. Things will change; at this time last year, the New York Giants were 5-0. They finished the season out of the playoffs at 8-8. The 2009 Green Bay Packers started 2-2 and ended up with a Wild Card berth at 11-5.

NFL Week 4 Gambling Preview

Sports Interaction’s betting analyst Al Dannity breaks down the big games in the NFL this weekend.

Just four weeks into his career as a Washington Redskin, Donovan McNabb is back in Philadelphia. The former Eagles’ quarterback has revenge on his mind after being traded in the off-season. Unfortunately for McNabb he has several things going against him. First off, Washington’s offense stinks. In fact the Redskins just plain stink in general.

Vikings-Saints a great way to start NFL season

The National Football League couldn’t have picked a much better matchup to open the 2010 NFL season than the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints hosting Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings.

Thursday’s game (8:30 pm ET, NBC) is a rematch of the NFC Conference Championship in January, a thriller the Saints won 31-18 in overtime en route to the first Super Bowl victory in franchise history two weeks later.
