The PGA Pros move back to the great state of Texas this week – some to recover after what was another scintillating PGA Championship last week. TPC at Four Season has not proven to be a picnic in the past however – it is extremely hard to hit the fairways and Greens In Regulation stats have favored the course over the players in recent years.
Join TOPBet.eu and get 100% match bonus up to $250 for first time depositing players + BET ON HOCKEY - BASEBALL & BASKETBALL TODAY!!!

2013 HP Byron Nelson Championship
Location: Irving, Texas, United States
Course: TPC at Four Seasons
Date: May 16-19, 2013
Total Purse: US $ 6,500,000
Winner’s Share: US $ 1,170,000 (18% of total purse)

Defending Champion: Jason Dufner ($1,170,000)

A quality field will tee it up this week looking to dethrone Jason Dufner who makes the trip this week after a decent outing in the PGA Championship last week. Let’s break down some of the contenders and what should play out this week.

The Favorites:

Matt Kuchar 14/1

Should be motivated this week after a T48 at TPC Sawgrass. He finished T6 here in 2011 and T15 last year and has never missed a cut on this track in five starts. He has been just OK since the Masters but has made 14 straight cuts ahead of the Byron Nelson. He is 36th in strokes gained-putting and 17th in adjusted scoring on TOUR and is the favorite this week to bounce back.

Jason Dufner 16/1

The defending champion here has struggled a tad so far this year failing to record a top 10 so far! Unreal! He looked good at the PLAYERS before a final round 80 saw him finish T62. Duf also had a T8 in this event in 2011 so we know he loves this track. Still with little to show for a so far lost season it is hard to trust Dufner this week!

Jason Day 16/1

Won this tournament in 2010 and had a solo fifth in 2011 and a T9 last year. He was T19 at the PLAYERS last week and has made 14 straight cuts with 4 top 10s in 2013. With three straight top 10s in this event and with the form he has shown so far this year, Day is at the top of the list this week.

The Contenders:

Charl Schwartzel 20/1

Will make his first start at this tournament and is coming off a T55 at the PLAYERS to break his string of top 25s around the world. Schwartzel started the year like a house on fire but has been rather disappointing of late but his talent can’t be underestimated. He is 33rd in strokes gained-putting, sixth in adjusted scoring and first in three-putt avoidance on TOUR and absolutely can’t be counted out this week.

Louis Oosthuizen 20/1

Is the highest ranked golfer in the field this week and is coming off a T17 at TPC Sawgrass. He has three top 20s in his last four starts and just maybe due for a big week in his first ever start at TPC Four Seasons. First timers have fared well at this event in the past – Louis could continue that trend!

Keegan Bradley 20/1

Won this event in 2011 for his first PGA win and was T24 last year. He has been unimpressive lately – 2 straight missed cuts but had a top 10 in his last tournament in Texas – the Shell Houston Open. Bradley is hit or miss this year but is another that certainly can’t be counted out.

Ryan Palmer 25/1

Looked good last week with a T5 at the PLAYERS and had a runner-up finish here in a playoff in 2011 and T9 in 2012. He is a Texas guy and will be looking to build on his results here. He could go low or he could withdraw after a well-publicized loss of his friend last week. Best to stay away!

Marc Leishman 25/1

Has quietly been one of the hotter golfers on TOUR lately – a T4 at the Masters, at T9 at Harbour Town and another top 10 at the PLAYERS last week. He has a T8 (2009), T12 (2010) and T3 (2012) at TPC Four Seasons in four starts with an uncharacteristic missed cut in 2011. He looks to be due on a course he has traditionally done very well at.

Jimmy Walker 33/1

Shot a 67 on Sunday at the PLAYERS to finish in a tie for 15th. He has just one top 25 here in seven starts to go along with five cuts made. He has been solid indeed but hasn`t been great on this track.

Ben Crane 40/1

Is coming off a T8 at the PLAYERS and had a nice T4 at the Houston Open in his last tournament in Texas. He`s played here a bunch highlighted by a runner-up in 2002 and a T7 in 2010 and enters with a putter that ripped up TPC Sawgrass last week.

The Sleepers:

Jordan Speith 50/1

Local high school kid burst on the scene in this event in 2010 when he finished T16. He then finished T32 in 2011. He has top 2 10s and another top 25 among six cuts made this season and although he hasn`t exactly been in the mix lately could emerge on his favorite track this week.

J.J. Henry 125/1

And now for the super sleeper! He has made the cut here 10 of 11 starts and he finished a career best T3 in last year`s tournament. He currently sits in the top 30 on TOUR in fairways hit and greens in regulation – perfect traits for this track.

The Pick:

The pick this week is Jason Day at 16/1. He has three straight top 10s in this event and he has been playing very well this year. He has 10 top 10s already this year and had a closing round 68 at the PLAYERS. He’s due and a rather obvious pick this week.

My sleeper is Jordan Speith at 50/1. He knows this track well and we know he’ll get some love from the home town fans.

The PGA TOUR pros move to North Carolina this week for the Wells Fargo Championship. Six former champions tee it up this week on a seemingly ever-changing Quail Hollow. Fairways are among the hardest to hit among all courses on the PGA TOUR and getting it close to the hole is always a serious challenge.
THE BEST SPORTSBOOK FOR BETTING ON COLLEGE & NBA HOOPS! – CLICK HERE NOW + BET WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD TODAY!

2013 Wells Fargo Championship
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States
Course: Quail Hollow Country Club
Date: May 2-5, 2013
Total Purse: US $ 6,500,000
Winner’s Share: US $ 1,170,000 (18% of total purse)

Odds: Bovada

Defending Champion: Rickie Fowler ($1,170,000)

You have to be able to hit long and be accurate and you have to hope you can sink the occasional long putt. Although the scoring average was under par last year, Quail Hollow promises a tough test for the very strong field this week.

Let’s take a look at the names to watch this week and what should play out.

The Favorites:

Rory McIlroy 9/1

Got his first PGA TOUR win on this course in 2010 and promptly went on to miss the cut in 2011 and then lost in a playoff last year. Golf is a crazy game isn’t it? He last played in the Masters where he finished T25 and if his driver is on, he should, on paper win easily. But we have all seen what Rory’s new clubs have meant – inconsistency. But based on a T2 and a win in the last three years and still being Rory McIlroy, he is the unquestioned favorite.

Phil Mickelson 16/1

Is coming off an unflattering T54 in the Masters but he has fared very well on this track in the past – he’s 9-for-9 with four top fives and another two top 10s. He, like Rory is hard to trust however based on his inconsistency this year.

Lee Westwood 16/1

Last played in the Masters where he was a respectable T8 making it two straight top 10s on TOUR. He’s had a Missed cut, a T61, T38 and a T5 last year respectively in his four starts here and looks pretty good ahead of this week on a track that should suit his game very well.

Webb Simpson 18/1

Lost in a playoff in his last start at Harbour Town and now has three top 6 finishes and seven top 25s already this season. He finished fourth in this event last year after holding the lead after 54 holes. He is a local guy and a member here and is 17th in scoring, 11th in scrambling, ninth in par-4 performance, 29th in total putting and third on TOUR in greens in regulation from off the fairway but is a puzzling 152nd in total driving which is the only thing that may hold him back this week. But he has been consistent this year and enters in great form – no shame in picking Webb this week.

The Contenders:

Bubba Watson 22/1

Was T2 here in 2009 and has made the cut here three straight appearances. He is sixth on TOUR in greens hit, 45th in strokes gained-putting and first in birdies or better on par 4s but his accuracy off the tee scares me a little this week. He is coming off a T15 in New Orleans after opening with a 1-over 73 so we know he is in decent form.

Dustin Johnson 22/1
<img class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px;  height:250px; src="http://partner.tbaffiliate.com/GetBanner.html?id=574&affiliateID=1463&sourceID=17" alt="TopBet"/>
Has quietly finished top 15 in each of his last three starts with a T13 at the Masters last time out. He has made the cut just once here however – a T29 in 2010.

Rickie Fowler 22/1

Scored his first PGA TOUR win here last year in a playoff to follow a T6 and T16 in his other two appearances and he has three top 10s already this year. He is 20th in fairways hit, 35th in strokes gained-putting and 22nd in scrambling so far this year but hasn’t finished inside the top 25 since Bay Hill where he was T3.

Nick Watney 25/1

Is coming off a T15 in New Orleans where he shot under par in every round – his second straight top 15 on TOUR. He has six top 25s in eight trips to Quail Hollow and a career-best eighth last year and his game seems to fit this track very well. Expect a solid week from Mr. Watney.

Sergio Garcia 25/1

Finished T2 here way back in 2005 and had a T28 on this track as recently as 2011. He is coming off a good T8 at the Masters for his fifth top 17 in six starts this season. He is second in adjusted scoring on TOUR, 14th in Total Driving, 25th in Par 5 and 2nd in GIR – all traits that will serve him well this week. Garcia is a nice play at 25/1 for sure this week!

Bill Haas 28/1

Has five top 10s already this year and has two fourth-place finishes and a pair of T22s in nine appearances at Quail Hollow but has also missed four cuts here. Haas is eighth in greens in regulation and 13th in scrambling which should serve him well this week.

D.A. Points 40/1

Lost in a playoff here last year but has been playing well ahead of this year’s event – a win at the Shell Houston Open and a solo second in New Orleans last week. He has made four consecutive cuts and is actually one of the hotter players on TOUR at the moment.

Hunter Mahan 40/1

Had four straight top 25s here interrupted by a disappointing T53 here last year. He’s 17th on TOUR in ball striking, 25th in strokes gained-putting, 14th in Total Driving, 19th in GIR and 41st in Par 5 percentage on TOUR this year. He has seven top 25s this year in 13 starts but enters not in the best of form at the moment.

The Sleepers:

Lucas Glover 50/1

Won this event in 2011 and was 2nd here in 2009 and looked good to win at New Orleans last week before an average final round saw him slip to T4. He is 10th on TOUR in total driving, 42nd in the all-around ranking and 60th in GIR from other than the fairway. It is hard to believe that he is 50/1 having had success here and having finished T4 last week.

Jimmy Walker 50/1

Walker was another player in contention last week – a T8 at New Orleans was his fourth top 10 this year and 20th consecutive cut made. He has yet to make a cut at this event but enters playing the best golf of his career.

Kevin Streelman 66/1

He’s 0-for-3 at this event, but he hasn’t appeared since 2010 and he’s in the midst of a career year in the heart of his prime. Since breaking through at the Tampa Bay Championship, he’s added a T21 at Bay Hill and a T3 at Harbour Town.

The Pick:

I looked at two golfers this week – but I am going with home-town boy Webb Simpson at 18/1 over my second favorite Sergio Garcia.

My sleeper – and he isn’t really isn’t a sleeper is Lucas Glover at 50/1. He played well last week and may have deserved a better fate. He should be good again this week.

2013 Wells Fargo Betting Lines & Future Odds

Field (Any Other Golfers Not Listed Below) 5/2

RORY McILROY 9/1

LEE WESTWOOD 15/1

WEBB SIMPSON 20/1

DUSTIN JOHNSON 20/1

RICKIE FOWLER 20/1

BUBBA WATSON 25/1

SERGIO GARCIA 25/1

The Pros move to TPC Louisiana this week and the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Last year, Jason Dufner and Ernie Els finished minus 19 before their playoff – you can go low here. Greens are fairly easy to hit but course management is critical on this Pete Dye designed course.
**LOOKING FOR SAFE & SECURE NBA & NCAAB SPORTSBOOKS FOR GAMBLING?
2013 Zurich Classic of New Orleans
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana, United States
Course: TPC of Louisiana
Date: Apr 25-28, 2013
Total Purse: US $ 6,400,000
Winner’s Share: US $ 1,152,000 (18% of total purse)
Odds From Bovada

Defending Champion: Jason Dufner ($1,152,000)

Distance off the tee is nice but not crucial here – smarts and control will win this tournament.

So, without further adieu, let’s take a look at some of the manes to watch in the latest stop on the PGA TOUR.

The Favorites:

Justin Rose 12/1

Rose is the best of the bunch heading into this week – ninth in the all-around and second in both scrambling and par-5 scoring on TOUR and having finished inside the top 25 in 14 consecutive starts worldwide. He is coming off an OK Masters in which his putter let him down but was T10 here last year. I am not expecting the putting issues this week – expect another good performance.

Jason Dufner 16/1

Is the defending champion here and he has proven to love this track in the past. He has yet to find his 2012 form but it could all start on a course that seems to suit his eye very well.

Bubba Watson 16/1

Won this event in 2011 and finished T18 here last year. He is coming off a rather disappointing T50 in the Masters and still hasn’t shown stellar form so far this year although he has quietly recorded two top 10s and another three top 25s in seven starts this season. OK won’t get it done this week!

Keegan Bradley 16/1

Finished T54 at the Masters – not good but he has finished top 10 five times already this year. He is one of the best on TOUR tee to green – if his putter heats up he could emerge the champion. He has played the Zurich Classic twice with one missed cut and a T26 but his game does suit this track very, very well.

The Contenders:

Rickie Fowler 22/1

We saw the good and the bad from Fowler at the Masters – mistakes aren`t as severely punished at TPC Louisiana. He had four double-bogeys and a triple-bogey to take him out of contention at Augusta but outside of that he played very well. He has three top 10s already this season and was 26th here in 2010 and tied for 10th here last year – the week before he went on to win at Quail Hollow. I love Fowler`s game and his ability to go low this week – now if he could avoid the all-too-familiar blowups!

Thorbjorn Olesen 25/1

Is coming off a very nice T6 at the Masters that earned him Special Temporary Membership and now has four top 10s in eight stroke-play starts worldwide including two top-3 finishes on the European Tour. Do I trust him this week – too early to tell? Is he on my radar – he certainly has to be.

Billy Horschel 28/1

Enters this week having made an incredible 22 straight cuts including a T9 last week at the RBC and three straight top 10s. He missed the cut here last year but there is no denying that Horschel is one of the hottest players on TOUR at the moment. He’s T16 in total driving, 46th in greens hit, 26th in strokes gained-putting, and 12th in the all-around and first in total birdies. TPC Louisiana is a haven for first time winners on TOUR – Horschel could continue that trend!

Freddie Jacobson 40/1

Enters having finished top 25 in seven straight starts including a T25 at the Masters last time out. He is eighth on TOUR in strokes gained-putting, 15th in scrambling and seventh in adjusted scoring and is a threat every time he tees it up.

Brendon De Jonge 40/1

Looked good last week until a final round 75 saw him slip to a T9.He has finished top 10 in two of his last three starts and finished T26 here in 2011 and a T18 last year. He has yet to win on TOUR but is certainly on that short list of golfers that is due. <img class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; src="http://banners.betdsi.com/images/currentpromos_dsi_250_250_0.gif?cmpid=3051_8322">

Ernie Els 40/1

Lost this tournament in a playoff last year in his first start at TPC Louisiana. He enters in some decent form as well – coming off a T13 at the Masters. Els isn`t getting a whole lotta love this week and looks like decent value at 40/1.

Charley Hoffman 45/1

Had the lead after three rounds at the RBC Heritage before a closing round 75 saw him slip to a share of sixth place. He has two straight top 10s however and three top 20s in a row. He has made the cut four straight times at TPC Louisiana with just one top 25 but there is no doubting his present form.

The Sleepers:

Jimmy Walker 50/1

Is another non-winner that enters in good form – 19 consecutive cuts made. He has made the cut here twice in three starts and has a T18 last year. He is tied for the lead in scoring average on TOUR – 3.94, is 23rd in greens hit, 34th in strokes gained-putting and 11th in adjusted scoring and is an intriguing 50/1 this week.

Jeff Overton 66/1

Absolutely loves this track – he was runner-up in 2010 and has logged two more top 20s in 2009 and last year. He last played in the Valero Texas Open where he finished T7 and sneaks in under the radar this week at 66/1.

The Pick:

It would be easy to pick the top ranked golfer in the field Justin Rose but I am going with a golfer further down the list. Ricky Fowler at 22/1 is my pick after three top six finishes in his last seven starts and looking terrific at times at the Masters. He should be a motivated guy and with a title defense at Quail Hollow looming, Fowler will be a star this week.

My sleeper is Jeff Overton at 66/1. He has been terrific in this track and deserves a victory on his favorite course.

The RBC Heritage has its work cut out for it – it is impossible to recreate the drama that culminated in Adam Scott’s first major win at the Masters. But the top dogs are not shying away from this week’s event – 14 players that finished inside the top 25 at Augusta will tee it up at Hilton Head Island.
CANADIAN? **BET ON SPORTS WITH BODOG.ca - CLICK HERE - BET TODAY!
2013 RBC Heritage
Location: Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, United States
Course: Harbour Town Golf Links
Date: Apr 18-21, 2013
Total Purse: US $ 5,700,000
Winner’s Share: US $ 1,026,000 (18% of total purse)
Odds From Bovada

Defending Champion: Carl Pettersson ($1,026,000)

Harbour Town is one of the top 10 shortest courses on TOUR – ball striking, accuracy and greens in regulation are what are going to win this tournament. So are course management and an ability to get it done in breezy conditions. Let’s take a look at the names to watch this weekend and who could emerge victorious a week after one of the more memorable Masters in recent memory.

The Favorites:

Brandt Snedeker 14/1

Snedeker has had a tough couple of months – a rib injury kept him from being at his best. If not for a collapse on Sunday, he may have earned himself a Green Jacket! Still he settled for a T6 and appears to be back to form. He won this event in 2011. He is 4th on TOUR in GIR to date this season and 11th in strokes gained putting and simply owns one of the best flat-sticks in the game. If he can get over the disappointment of last week, he should content this weeks as well.

Jim Furyk 16/1

Loves this track – has a T8, a fourth, a pair of seconds and win in 2010 in his last eight starts at this event. He is in the midst of 12 straight cuts made and enters off an OK T25 at the Masters. He has the control game to excel on this track, obviously – he is definitely one to watch out for this week.

Luke Donald 16/1

Has been disappointing this year but his game perfectly suits this course. He doesn’t need to bomb it off the tee and precision iron play and putting are essential here. He was an uncharacteristic T37 last year but finished inside the top 3 in his three previous starts here. Harbour Town may be just what the doctor ordered for Donald.

Matt Kuchar 16/1

Showed some flashes of brilliance last week but had some troubling holes as well on his way to a T8 finish – his fourth top 10 already this season. He has made 8/9 cuts with two top 10s and four top 25s here but was a disappointing T44 last year.

The Contenders:

Jason Day 25/1

Ahhh, Mr. Day – my sleeper from last week! He finished third last week after a second in the Masters in 2011 – his emotions may be his worst enemy this week. Still his putting looked terrific – something that will come in handy this week. He has made 8/9 cuts with two top 10s and four top 25s here but was a disappointing T44 last year.

Jason Dufner 25/1

Melted down in the final round of the Masters and finished T20 – he ranked sixth in greens in regulation and 16th in putting. His iron play was very good last week – he is now 33rd on the PGA TOUR in GIR and 65th in adjusted scoring. Duf has top 25 finishes in his last two starts here – the more relaxed atmosphere this week may serve him well.

Boo Weekley 33/1

Had back-to-back wins at Harbour Town in 2007 and 2008 with three top 15s since and a T6 in 2012. He enters this week playing some good golf – a T8 in Puerto Rico and a runner-up in Tampa. Weekley has never missed a cut here and has the best history of any entry in this event.
<iframe id="ipreview" frameborder="0" width="250" height="250"src="http://www.vrbmarketing.com/widgets/odds_widget.php?w=250&h=250&ls=NFL-NCAAF-NHL-MLB-NBA&b=3&af=1217&pid=1292" scrolling="no" class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc" >

Graeme McDowell 33/1

Missed the cut last week at the Masters after three top 10s this season. He is 10th in fairways hit, 13th in strokes gained-putting, first in scrambling and 16th in adjusted scoring on TOUR and will be looking for that rebound performance this week.

Billy Horschel 40/1

Has never played this event but has been impressive this year so far. He leads the PGA TOUR with 21 consecutive cuts made, the last two of which resulted in a T2 in Houston and a T3 in San Antonio. His aggressive style may not be the best fit for Harbour Town but there is no denying that he has been impressive lately.

Zach Johnson 40/1

Finished second here last year but also has two missed cuts in his last five appearances – 2008 and 2011. He has yet to earn a top 10 finish on TOUR this year but he is accurate off the tee, a good wedge player and a solid putter – perfect attributes for this track.

The Sleepers:

Aaron Baddeley 50/1

Is coming off a T15 at the Valero Texas Open and is a former winner here. He missed the cut in this event last year but had a string of six top 25s before his unfortunate 2012.

Bill Haas 50/1

Has only made three of eight cuts here with no top 25s but he is one of the most consistent pros on TOUR right now – he co-leads the PGA TOUR with five top 10s and ranks sixth in greens hit. He is coming off an OK T20 at the Masters and looks good to erase his awful history on this track.

Ernie Els 50/1

Has been unflattering the last four years here – three missed cuts and a T48 but he did finish T2 in 2007. In all, he’s made 10/13 cuts with seven top 10s including that runner-up and two thirds and is coming off a T13 at the Masters. Els is not being talked about this week but is good value at 50/1.

Stewart Cink 50/1

Two time winner here – 2000 and 2004 is coming off a T25 at the Masters – his fourth top 25 of 2012. Cink is quietly having a very good year and could content this week.

The Pick:

I would love to go with someone other than the favorite but I just can’t this week. Brandt Snedeker at 14/1 is my pick – he is obviously back from his rib injury and I don’t think his meltdown at the Masters will affect him as much as most think. He has a great record here and has the game to get it done in impressive style.

My sleeper is Bill Haas at 50/1. He was also good last week as he has been all season long. This is a ball striker’s course and there has been nobody more consistent than Haas this year.

The first Major of the year is upon us and for golf fans this year’s Masters is definitely one to look forward to. Tiger Woods is on fire, Rory McIlroy is ramping up and parity on the PGA TOUR has become tangible.

2013 The Masters
Location: Augusta, Georgia, United States
Course: Augusta National
Date: Apr 11-14, 2013
Total Purse: US $ 8,000,000
Winner’s Share: US $ 1,440,000 (18% of total purse)
Odds: Bovada

Defending Champion: Bubba Watson ($1,440,000)

Augusta National proved typically difficult last year when Bubba and the Pink Driver broke through. Patience, experience and an ability to seize the few opportunities one gets at Augusta is key – you simply can’t depend on winning the tournament on the par 4s – scoring on the par 5s is essential. A hot putter is also absolutely crucial.

So let’s take a look at the names to watch in the stellar field at Augusta.

The Favorites:

Tiger Woods 3/1

It’s pretty hard to bet against Mr. Woods right now he is a four times a winner at Augusta National but not since 2005 with 15 top 25s, 10 of which are top fives. He has won three times on TOUR already this year and is the #1 ranked golfer in the world. He’s swinging better, his short game is better, his putting is as good as ever thanks to Steve Stricker and his swagger is back. He will at very least contend this weekend for sure.

Rory McIlroy 8/1

Finally had a good performance with his new clubs – a solo second at the Valero Texas Open where he co-led the field in both greens in regulation and par breakers. He’s had a lot of changes since he played here last year and may be finally adjusting. He is certainly trending upward but is a tad difficult to trust at this point in time – don’t you think?

Phil Mickelson 10/1

Has three wins here and seven top fives and he already has a win on TOUR this year. His iron play will keep him in contention again, that much is almost assured but he is still working on a new putting grip – Augusta is no place to be tinkering. While I like Phil’s game, I am not sure it is at where it needs to be to get himself another Green Jacket this weekend.

The Contenders:

Justin Rose 20/1

Hasn’t played since a solo second three weeks ago at Bay Hill. He has twelve straight top 25s worldwide and has five top 25s in seven starts at the Masters. He is a premier ball striker and his putting is the most improved part of his game – good signs going into the Masters. If he can play as well on the weekend at Augusta as he does on the weekdays, Rose could emerge victorious this week.

Charl Schwartzel 22/1

Won the Masters in 2011 and has 12 straight top 25s worldwide heading into the weekend. The dude has the all around game and the demeanor to get it done again this week. He is currently 17th on TOUR in strokes gained-putting and second in adjusted scoring and enters this week as one of the hottest golfers on the planet. Leaving Schwartzel off of your short-list would certainly be a mistake!

Lee Westwood 25/1

Westy has to win a major sometime! In his last three trips to Augusta National, he’s placed second (2010), T11 (2011) and T3 (2012) – close but no cigar! He is coming off a T10 at the Shell Houston Open in his tune-up for the Masters and will certainly be among the hungriest golfers in the field.

Louis Oosthuizen 25/1

Lost last year`s Masters in a playoff after leading the field in both total driving and par-4 scoring average. He will be out for revenge and he looks good after a T10 at the Shell Houston Open where he was 10 under on the par 5s – that’s where you have to excel at Augusta! Remember the double eagle at the second hole in the final round last year? Incredible! He`s already got one Major under his belt and is a good bet to win a Masters one day – just maybe not this year!

Dustin Johnson 25/1

His power will definitely be an asset at Augusta but his putting still leaves a little to be desired. He hasn`t quite emerged like many thought he would this year despite having all the tools.

Adam Scott 28/1

He finished T2 here in 2011 and T8 last year and will certainly be motivated in the first Major of this year after melting down in the last Major of last year. He has been OK this year but not at the level most think necessary in order to contend here at this point in time.

Keegan Bradley 28/1

Has four straight top 10s heading into the Masters and is a sexy pick to win it all this week. He is sixth on TOUR in adjusted scoring and 11th in the all-around and he led the field in distance off the tee in his debut at last year’s Masters on his way to a 27th place finish. He can hit it high, he can hit it long and he is one of the better putters in the game – perfect for this track. Add in the fact that he has succeeded already in a Major in winning the PGA and he has to be in the conversation. He`s had the benefit of being tutored by Phil Mickelson to make up for the lack of experience on this track. I, like many like Bradley`s chances this week for a good finish.

Matt Kuchar 33/1

Led last year’s Masters and co-led the field in both greens hit and par-4 scoring average and is coming off a T22 in the Valero Texas Open. This man has ice in his veins and the all around game to make some noise this weekend.

Bubba Watson 33/1

Is the defending champion here but hasn`t quite found the form that made him a force last year. He has recorded 14 top 20s since his Masters win and is coming off a T14 at Bay Hill. He is sixth on TOUR in greens hit and second in par-4 scoring. If you think that he can turn on the switch this week take a shot – I don`t trust him to repeat!

Luke Donald 33/1

Mr. Donald certainly has been quiet this year but he does have three top 10s among six cuts made in eight appearances at Augusta National. His short game puts him on the radar but the fact that he hasn`t won on TOUR in over a year makes me steer away from him this week.

Hunter Mahan 40/1

Has three top 12 finishes in the last four Masters but is coming off a rare missed cut at the Shell Houston Open – a course similar to Augusta. He is 17th on TOUR in greens in regulation, 18th in strokes gained-putting and 42nd in adjusted scoring but isn`t exactly lighting it up at the moment.

Ian Poulter 40/1

We all know about his putter and how he responds to pressure so we can`t count Poulter out this week! This guy hasn`t missed a cut since 2011 outside of the FedEx playoffs and seems to raise the level of his game the bigger the stage. <img class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; src="http://partners.commission.bz/processing/impressions.asp?btag=a_805b_824" alt="New Parlay Odds at BetOnline"/>

The Sleepers:

Jason Day 50/1

Has played very well this year – 7-for-7 to start 2013 with a trio of top 10s and he did finish T2 at this event in 2011. He was forced to withdraw last year with an injury but enters this year with a ton of confidence and the game to challenge the favorites.

Graeme McDowell 50/1

Has three top 10s in five starts already this season and he finished T-12 or better in every major last year, including at T-2 at the U.S. Open. He had top 20 finishes at the Masters in 2009 and 2012 and like Lee Westwood is overdue for a Majors Championship win.

Jim Furyk 50/1

Finished T3 at the Valero Texas Open and ranked T5 in fairways hit and third in greens in regulation in that event. In 16 appearances at Augusta he has 10 top 25s but has yet to break through with a win.

Bill Haas 75/1

Has finished 26th, 42nd and 37th in three appearances here but comes into this year`s Masters with five top-10s in nine starts this year, including in his past two starts. He is third in greens in regulation on TOUR and 14th in scrambling – perfect attributes for this track.

The Pick:

The pick this week ain’t sexy – it’s smart! Tiger Woods at 3/1 enters red hot – his putter, his short game and his driver are all looking great. When Tiger has his mojo he is a scary man!

My sleeper is Jason Day at 50/1. He has been one of the more consistent golfers on TOUR and he has a good history at Augusta.

2013 Valero Texas Open
Location: San Antonio, Texas, United States
Course: TPC San Antonio – AT&T Oaks Course
Date: Apr 4-7, 2013
Total Purse: US $ 6,200,000
Winner’s Share: US $ 1,116,000 (18% of total purse)
Odds: Bovada

Defending Champion: Ben Curtis ($1,116,000)

Remember the 16 that Kevin Na took two years ago on the par 4 ninth? A few of the holes have undergone some necessary changes so as to make the track a little more fair but make no mistake about it, the AT&T Oaks Course will provide a serious test.

Many of the big manes will take the weekend off to prepare for next week but Rory will play hoping to right the ship before the year’s first major and Ian Poulter and Matt Kuchar will attend.

Let’s take a look at some of the names to watch this week and what should play out in the final prep for Augusta.

The Favorites:

Rory McIlroy 9/1

Rory’s inclusion in this even is a surprise but there is no doubt that he does need some work on his game! He has never teed it up this event before but is playing it as a final tune-up for the Masters. Rory has been awful in the first two rounds of his last two tournaments but has shown good form on the weekend in both. Still he was outside the top 60 in both fairways and greens last week and still doesn’t look like the Rory of last year.

Charl Schwartzel 10/1

This will be the first time he’s played this event as well. He has been as consistent as there is – top 16 in his last 11 starts worldwide and is coming off a T4 in Malaysia two weeks ago. Schwartzel is a factor in every event he plays and should contend at very least this week as well.

Matt Kuchar 12/1

Kuchar’s game seems to suit this track pretty well. He was T14 at Tampa Bay in his last start and finished T13 in his only appearance at this event. Against a somewhat watered down field, Kuchar is among the best.

The Contenders:

Henrik Stenson 20/1

This is Henrik’s first time playing this event but he has been terrific as of late – a second place finish at Houston followed a 8th at Bay Hill. He is in great form and may be due for a breakout this week.

Fredrik Jacobson 25/1

Another Swede playing very well – 5 straight Top 25′s. He officially qualified for the Masters and enters having finished runner-up in 2010 and then T5 and T18 in his subsequent starts. He is coming off a 16th place finish at Doral to a tournament that he absolutely loves. Jacobson could be the man this week to gain some momentum into next week’s Masters.

Ian Poulter 25/1

Like so many of the stars, this will be Poulter’s first appearance here. He has made the cut in an incredible 33 straight tournaments and is arguably in the best form of his career. He has been melting down on Sundays lately but will look to right that ship ahead of the Masters.

Cameron Tringale 28/1

Is coming off a nice T16 at the Shell last week for his fourth top 25 in his last six starts. He was a GIR machine last week and was T8 in scrambling for the week. He has a terrific history at this event – three starts, three cuts made and two top 10s. Tringale has the form and the qualities to contend this week – he just needs to clean up his play on Sundays.

Jim Furyk 28/1

Furyk hasn’t played here in nearly 20 years but need the rounds to get ready for Augusta. He hasn’t missed a cut in six starts this year and has two top 15s already. He is eighth on TOUR in fairways hit, T5 in proximity to the hole and 40th in adjusted scoring this year which should help him on this track. <img class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; src="http://banners.betdsi.com/images/currentpromos_dsi_250_250_0.gif?cmpid=3051_8322">

The Sleepers:

Billy Horschel 50/1

Has never played well at this event but enters having made a TOUR best 20 straight cuts. He finished T2 last week in Houston and has all the makings of a player on the cusp of breaking out. He is in the best form of his career and has mentioned that he likes this track despite never shooting under 74 here.

Brendon de Jonge 50/1

Is coming off a T10 at Redstone and has four top 15s already this year in 11 starts. He has made the cut in both of his starts here with a T23 being his best result. He has been very good in all-around this year – something that is necessary on this track.

Charley Hoffman 50/1

Hoffman is in some good form at this tournament – seven straight cuts made with two T13s and a T2. He is coming off a 20th place finish last week. Nobody in the field has had as much success at TPC San Antonio.

D.A. Points 66/1

Won at Redstone thanks to a terrific all around game. If he keeps that form going he will be hard to beat this week as well!

Charlie Wi 80/1

Finished T17 here in 2010 and T4 here last year making him another sleeper with a terrific history on this track. He has made seven cuts this year with two top 25s although he missed the cut last week. He is a great putter which is necessary here and at 80/1 he may be worth a sprinkle!

The Pick:

My pick this week is Fredrik Jacobson at 25/1. He is a true grinder and has been good all season long. Add in a decent track record in this event and Jacobson looks like the man to beat this week.

The sleeper this week is Charley Hoffman at 50/1. He always seems to show up huge for this event!

I know I know – you are used to seeing the Shell Houston Open the week before the Masters but not this year! It is a weird scheduling blip that will right itself after this year.
WAGER AT OUR BEST SPORTS BETTING SPORTSBOOKS FOR 2013 – REVIEWS OF ALL ONLINE SPORTSBOOKS TAKING CREDIT CARD DEPOSITS (click here)

2013 Shell Houston Open
Location: Humble, Texas, United States
Course: Redstone Golf Club
Date: Mar 28-31, 2013
Total Purse: US $ 6,000,000
Winner’s Share: US $ 1,062,000 (18% of total purse)
Odds: Bovada

Defending Champion: Hunter Mahan ($1,080,000)

Redstone Country Club will still do its best to emulate the conditions at Augusta however – undulating and uber-slick greens, similar distance, and extremely difficult scrambling stats from the nearly unfair rough. To add to the intrigue, the weather this week isn`t supposed to be great.

You have to hit it close and hope that your putter heats up in order to win. Let`s take a look at a few of the names to watch this week in what is basically a Masters prep tournament.

The Favorites:

Rory McIlroy 9/1

Rory should be motivated this week after losing his #1 World Ranking but enters in some so-so form. He is coming off a T8 in the WGC-Cadillac Championship after a sizzling final round. He has just two starts in this event with a T19 being his best result in 2009 – the other result being a missed cut. Rory is definitely dangerous but I can’t trust him until he shows me that he is comfy with his new clubs.

Keegan Bradley 12/1

Is coming off a T3 last week for his third top 5 finish already this season. He finished T4 here last year and enters having finished seventh or better in his last three starts overall. He is great off the tee and is known as one of the premiere putters in the world which will certainly help at Redstone. Bradley is definitely due and this course suits his game pretty well.

The Contenders:

Steve Stricker 16/1

Will be playing only his third event this year but comes in with a good history on this course – T4 in ’11 and sporting four top-11 finishes since 2006. He last played three weeks ago – a runner-up finish at the WGC-Cadillac Championship. He has placed eighth or better in his last four tournaments – rest may be his friend this week.

Hunter Mahan 16/1

Is the defending champion in this event and has four top 11s in six starts on the course – not too shabby although he did miss the cut here in 2008 and 2010. He has seven straight top 25s this year including four top 10s and is coming off an unspectacular T21 at Bay Hill. He has yet to break through with a win so far this year but is overdue for a victory.

Phil Mickelson 16/1

Won this event in 2011 and finished fourth here in 2012 and has a nice streak of 10 rounds in a row under par on the line this week. He missed the cut in last weekend’s tournament, but has a win and a third-place finish in two of his last five tournaments. He has been experimenting with his putter lately but the experimentation has to stop soon with the Masters on the horizon.

Brandt Snedeker 22/1

Gets back to action after a rib muscle injury which can’t be good for your swing. He missed the cut last week but he currently leads the TOUR in greens hit. He has never made the cut here in three tries here but he, like so many realize that a good tournament here sets them up well for Augusta.

Lee Westwood 33/1

Westy hasn’t exactly been himself this year so far – just three top 25s in six starts but he has never finished outside the top 30 in this event in six starts. His weakness traditionally has been his work on the greens and his short game – not exactly a recipe for success at Redstone. <img class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; src="http://www.vrbmarketing.com/process/image.php?pid=977&aid=1217" />

Jimmy Walker 40/1

Has quietly been one of the more consistent golfers on TOUR this season – three top 10s already this season including last week when he was T8 despite an ugly 74 in the final round. He is under par in 26 of 32 rounds this season and has the distance and the putting chops to contend this week.

The Sleepers:

Chris Kirk 50/1

Finished an impressive T2 here in 2011 but then took 2012 off. He is coming off a T16 at the Arnold Palmer – his fourth top 25 already this year in seven starts. He is a good driver of the ball and has a very nice putter – both are crucial for success at Redstone.

Henrik Stenson 50/1

Has played this event twice in his career and has finished T3 in 2009 and T21 in 2012. Stenson was T8 last week at Bay Hill – he proved he can hit the ball straight and get on the greens. Now if his putter would wake up!

Carl Pettersson 66/1

Was the runner-up here last year and is coming off a T21 at the Arnold Palmer last week. He hasn’t done much this year but has to be in the conversation based on his result last year.

Bryce Molder 100/1

Has finished top 20 in his last three appearances at Redstone and has made the cut seven times in seven attempts this year with four top 25s. His putter is very good and he is 34th in adjusted scoring on TOUR this year.

The Pick:

My pick this week is Phil Mickelson at 16/1. He has a win and a T4 here the last two years and he will be out to avenge a terrible week at Bay Hill. Just when we start to discount Phil a tad he comes up big. He will use this event as a tune-up for Augusta and will be at his best!

My sleeper is Chris Kirk at 50/1. He has been playing great golf this year and looked good in finishing second here in 2011.

Defending Champion: Tiger Woods ($1,080,000)

Experience is key here as is a player’s ability to stick his approach anywhere close to the pin. Expect a lot of two and three putts this week – the winner will likely be the one with the occasional one putt.

So let’s break it down and focus on a few players to watch this week.

The Favorites:

Tiger Woods 5/2

Woods has absolutely owned Bay Hill – seven wins and career earnings nearly three times that of the next best! He had a win last time out – his second this year already and looks to be in Tiger-like form. He is the defending camp here by five strokes and this year is 5th Total Putting, 2nd All Around, 1st Scoring Avg., 2nd Par Breakers, 7th Par 4, 17th Proximity to Hole, 9th 3 Putt Avoidance – all perfect stats for success on this track. He’s pretty hard to bet against indeed!

Phil Mickelson 16/1

Has won one time at Bay Hill – 1997 but has struggled here since – no top 20s in his last five trips. He has played OK this year including a T3 at Doral a couple weeks ago but his recent form here makes me shy away.

Brandt Snedeker 18/1

Is coming off a win but also had some injury issues since. Sneds seems to be a factor in every event he plays – I would expect no less this week.

The Contenders:

Sergio Garcia 20/1

Garcia is riding a wave at the moment for sure. He has 13 top 25s in a row worldwide after his T7 last week in a tournament he ranked third in diving, T6 in greens hit and eighth in strokes gained-putting. Garcia has six top 10s in 11 starts in this event and should be in the mix Sunday.

Justin Rose 20/1

Has 12 straight top 25s and he tied for third here in 2011 and was T15 last year. He’s coming off a T4 and a T8 in his last two starts, so his form is solid. He’s only played 3 events this year but he does rank 2nd Scoring Avg., 3rd Driving Distance, 3rd Scrambling, 11th Par 4 Performance, 1st Scrambling from the Rough – all qualities he will need for success this week.

Graeme McDowell 22/1

Is the defending runner-up here. Last year he co-led the field in both fairways hit and greens in regulation. He has finished top 10 in his last three starts this year including a T3 at the WGC Cadillac and is certainly a threat this week as well. He is 4th Scoring Avg., 2nd Driving Distance, 2nd Scrambling and 35th in Proximity to Hole this year which should help this week.

Bubba Watson 25/1

Hasn’t been terrific this year and in turn is offering us some good value. He was T4 at Bay Hill last year when he led the field in distance off the tee and ranked T5 in GIR. He has quietly put together four top 20s this year and will be looking to ramp up for Augusta. <img class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; src="http://affiliates.commissionaccount.com/processing/impressions.asp?btag=a_3953b_2293" alt="Sportsbook.com"/>

Keegan Bradley 25/1

Had a fourth place at The Honda Classic and a solo seventh at the WGC-Cadillac and now has five top 25s in eight starts on the season. He missed the cut badly here in his only start last year but his game seems to suit this track fairly well.

Webb Simpson 33/1

Has struggled on this track – just one top-30 in six starts (T11, 2009). He has finished top 20 four straight times and his game looked OK last week despite not being able to sink a putt when needed. Despite the poor showing last year, Webb has to be on the radar.

Lee Westwood 33/1

Hasn’t played this event in four years but has made 9 of 10 cuts here in the past with six top 25s. Westy is always a threat – always!

Jason Dufner 33/1

Hasn’t quite found his form this year but has finished top 25 in two straight events. He finished T5 here last year ranking T5 in total driving an seventh in strokes gained-putting. He has yet to finish in the top 10 this year – it may be best to stay away!

Ian Poulter 33/1

Finished third here last year and T12 in 2011 and he does own one of the more magical putters in the game. Poulter is clutch indeed and on a track that putting is essential he’s worth a look.

Jim Furyk 40/1

Has finished T11 twice and T9 once at Bay Hill in the last three years and he is coming off a season-best T7 last week with nothing worse than a T35 in five starts. This year Furyk ranks third on TOUR in fairways hit, fifth in proximity and 19th in adjusted scoring.

The Sleepers:

Ernie Els 75/1

Has a tragic hip at the moment but enters as a former two-time winner here (1998 and 2010). He finished T4 here last year and he’s sitting at 75/1? He hasn’t been great this year but offers terrific value this week.

Graham DeLaet 100/1

Super-sleeper has finished top 21 in his last four starts and is 10th on TOUR in GIR. He has never won on TOUR but his name is one that keeps creeping up.

The Pick:

Obviously, the pick this week is Tiger Woods at 5/2. He plays this course like it is his own and he is in terrific form this year. It ain’t a great payday but any bet against Tiger is silly at best.

The sleeper is Ernie Els at 75/1. Ya he may be a bit banged up but he knows how to win on this track.

The PGA pros head to Tampa Bay this week and the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club – one week after a very intriguing Cadillac. Innisbrook proved to be a fairly easy track for the pros last year – the scoring average was 70.723 which made it the fifth easiest Par 71 track on TOUR.
WAGER AT OUR BEST SPORTS BETTING SPORTSBOOKS FOR 2013 – REVIEWS OF ALL ONLINE SPORTSBOOKS TAKING CREDIT CARD DEPOSITS (click here)

2013 Tampa Bay Championship
Location: Palm Harbour, Florida, United States
Course: Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club
Date: Mar 14-17, 2013
Total Purse: US $ 5,500,000
Winner’s Share: US $ 990,000 (18% of total purse)
Golf Odds from Bovada

Defending Champion: Luke Donald ($990,000)

It is a course that sets up well for those ranked high in scrambling – driving distance is not exactly a deal-breaker and hitting greens and fairways should be relatively tame for some of the best golf has to offer.

Let’s break it down and acknowledge some of the names to keep your eyes on this week.

The Favorites:

Adam Scott 16/1

Scott is coming off a nice third at the WGC-Cadillac – he got better every round and finished with a 64 on Sunday. He is clearly ramping up and appears to have put the British Open debacle behind him. Scott has the all around game to get it done here but 16/1 may be a bit optimistic for my blood.

Luke Donald 16/1

Is the defending champion here but is coming off a pedestrian T43 at last week’s WGC-Cadillac although he fared well in some categories (T13 in greens hit). He has played three times this year with a T16th at the Northern Trust being his best finish. He is tremendous tee to green and we all know what his putter is capable of. That said Donald would be an easier choice if he was in better form!

Sergio Garcia 16/1

Garcia looks reborn doesn’t he? He is coming off a nice T3 at the WGC-Cadillac in a tournament he ranked second in greens hit. He has 12 straight top 25s worldwide and two straight top 20’s in this event. With newfound confidence in his putter, Garcia enters this week with a ton of optimism.

Matt Kuchar 16/1

Had a bad week at Doral last week – just one round under par! He will be looking for a bounce back after a tournament that nothing went right in hitting just 50% of the greens. He did have a T12 here in 2009 and he was T10 here last year however.

The Contenders:

Webb Simpson 20/1

Is coming off a T20 at the Cadillac last week even though his putter was a major disappointment. He’s finished T13 (2010), solo second (2011) and T10 (2012) in the last three years here and has to be on the radar this week. He has finished no worse than T26 this year with a T6 at the NTO and T5 at the Match Play. He is 6th Scrambling, 10th Bounce Back, 32nd in Total Putting & Proximity to Hole, 34th Par 3 Performance, 11th Par 4 this year – perfect for Copperhead.

Jason Dufner 20/1

Finally had a decent week – a T12 at the WGC-Cadillac where he ranked T4 in GIR, second in both proximity to the hole and scrambling, and T3 in par-4 scoring average. Could it be that Duf is returning to his 2012 form? He has made four straight cuts here and is coming off a T10 at this event last year.

Jim Furyk 25/1

Won this event in 2010 and was 13th here in 2011 and then lost in a playoff last year. Ya – Furyk likes this event. He is fifth on the PGA TOUR in fairways hit. This year Jim has played four events, making the cut in each with a T13th at the Northern Trust. His accuracy (Furyk ranked 4th last year on the PGA Tour in driving accuracy), patience and history on this track makes Furyk and intriguing 25/1 this week. <img class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; src="http://banners.betdsi.com/images/currentpromos_dsi_250_250_0.gif?cmpid=3051_8322">

Nick Watney 25/1

Has made the cut in each of his seven appearances here with 4 top 25s. Watney enters the tournament 4th on TOUR in greens hit but his putter has let him down this year so far. Without a hot putter it is hard to back Watney.

Jason Day 33/1

Had been playing pretty well this year before a T33 last week at the WGC-Cadillac – three top 10s in five starts. He was T20 here last year and is 21st Strokes Gained Putting, 3rd Sand Save %, 15th All Around, 19th Total Driving Efficiency, 7th Putting from 5-15′, 17th Bounce Back – all good characteristics for this track. Day is going to win some time – I just don’t love him this week!

Scott Piercy 35/1

Shot a tournament best 62 here last year en route to a T5 in a tournament he co-led the field in total driving and ranked 15th in strokes gained-putting. Piercy is coming off an OK T25 last week.

Michael Thompson 40/1

Won two weeks ago and kept the foot on the pedal by finishing T8 last week at the WGC-Cadillac where he ranked second in fairways hit and T9 in greens in regulation. He was T16 here last year and is absolutely on top of his game right now.

The Sleepers:

Sang-moon Bae 70/1

Lost last year in a playoff but played very well. He is currently 14th on TOUR in strokes gained-putting and ninth in par breakers. He hasn’t done a whole lot this year but has missed just one of seven cuts. Based on his tournament last year, Bae deserves some Sleeper consideration this year.

Retief Goosen 80/1

Won this event in 2009 and went on to a solo fifth (2010), T28 (2011) and T20 (2012). He shared the 54 hole lead here last year before posting a final round 75. He has played just three times this year but does already have a T9 at Pebble Beach on his résumé. Goosen is a battler and at 80/1 he deserves some attention based on his history on this track.

The Pick:

My pick this week is Webb Simpson at 20/1. He has shot eight straight sun-70 rounds here and has finished inside the top 13 three straight years. The course set-up is eerily similar to last year’s US Open – a tournament that he won.

My sleeper is Retief Goosen at 80/1. He has a great history here and at 80/1 could represent a very nice pay day!

2013 Cadillac Championship at Doral Resort and Spa
World Golf Championship
Location: Miami, Florida, United States
Course: Doral Golf Resort and Spa – Blue Monster
Date: Mar 7-10, 2013
Total Purse: US $ 8,500,000
Winner’s Share: US $ 1,400,000 (16% of total purse)
Odds From BOVADA

Defending Champion: Justin Rose ($1,400,000)

But ball-striking is rewarded here and the greens have proven relatively easy in the past.

Long story short – a solid all-around game is crucial here with the advantage going to the quality ball-strikers in the field. The field of 65-70 includes 44 of the top 50 from the Official World Golf Rankings and leaders of the six Tours’ Official Money Lists/Order of Merit.

So, without further adieu, here are a few names to keep your eye on this week in another intriguing Florida stop on the PGA TOUR.

The Favorites:

Tiger Woods 9/1

Has three wins here since 2007 but withdrew last year. But he certainly hasn’t been himself. The Nike brothers – he and Rory are not looking great. Tiger is Tiger but until I see a little game, I am staying away.

Charl Schwartzel 14/1

I picked him last week – he was an OK T9 for his worst finish in his last nine events. He has a great history here – he finished second in 2010 and was T4 here last year. Schwartzel is the most consistent golfer on the planet and may be due for a win on North American soil this week.

Justin Rose 16/1

Is the defending champion in this event and has 14 top 10s worldwide since that win. He was T4 last week in his tune-up for a repeat. He was 1st in GIR, 5th in ball striking, 11th in par 4 performance, 12th in scrambling and 6th in all around last year at the Cadillac and like Schwartzel, may be due for a win.

The Contenders:

Matt Kuchar 20/1

Won the WGC-Accenture Match Play a couple of weeks ago and has been great on this track – finished T3 (2010), solo fifth (2011) and T8 (2012). This year Kuchar has three top 10s in five events played. Kuch is playing very well and has to be considered at very least this week.

Luke Donald 20/1

Has consecutive T6s here the last two years but he only has one stroke-play tournament under his belt so far this year – a T16 at Riviera. He has finished top 20 in his last six starts worldwide with a win and three third place finishes. Donald hasn’t played much but when he’s played he’s been effective.

Hunter Mahan 25/1

Mahan almost repeated at the WGC-Accenture Match Play and has played well in his other starts this year so far and his results have improved every week – 26th, 15th, 16th, 16th, 8th and 2nd respectively in 2013. This will be Mahan’s sixth visit to Doral. He has made all five cuts with his highest finish being 9th in 2011. For some reason Mahan always show up in World Golf Championship tournaments – his accuracy and ball striking ability should continue that trend this week.

Lee Westwood 25/1

Has not fared well here in the past – just one Top 25 in five starts at Doral but he is coming off a T9 at the Honda last week. Everyone is rooting for Westy but he may have to wait to get his first win of the year – history is against him.

Adam Scott 25/1

Scott has finished Top 15 the last two years at this event and will be out to avenge a first round exit at the WGC-Match Play. He has the all around game to contend here and looks like decent value at 25/1.
Keegan Bradley 25/1

Finished T8 here last year after a final round meltdown and enters this week in good form – off a T4 at the Honda last week. Bradley has yet to break out this year but that will happen sooner than later.

Webb Simpson 28/1

Has quietly put together a decent month – a T6 at the Northern Trust was followed by a quarter-final appearance in the WGC-Matchplay. He finished an unflattering T35 here last year but reeled off two straight 66s during that tournament – impressive. He is a GIR machine right now and his putter is more than adequate too. Watch out for Simpson this week!

Bubba Watson 28/1

Watson had a runner-up finish here last year and is coming off a surprising quarter-finals appearance at the WGC-Matchplay two weeks ago. Truth be told – he should have won last year but gave up a three shot advantage to Justin Rose. Early this season he currently ranks 3rd GIR, 4th par 4 birdie or better, 11th ball striking but he has yet to find his Masters winning form.

Nick Watney 36/1

Won this event in 2011 and was second in 2009 – he loves this track. He hasn’t been terrific this year so far but is coming off a T4 at the Farmers. Watney is too good to be invisible – he has to break out sometime!

Jason Day 40/1

Has three top 10s in four starts already this year and ranks 16th on TOUR in greens hit and fourth in the all-around – good traits for this track. But wins have been hard to come by for Day and I think that trend continues this week.

The Sleepers:

Robert Garrigus 50/1

Strangely this will be Garrigus’s first ever start at Doral but comes in with nine straight Top 25s. He leads the TOUR in the all-around ranking and sits sixth in greens in regulation but with no experience here, he is a tad difficult to trust.

Bill Haas 50/1

Haas has been good this year in stoke play event – a ninth, a sixth and a third already this year – and he’s sitting there at 50/1? He was sixth in this event in 2010 and is perhaps the best value on the board this week.

Peter Hanson 50/1

The Blue Monster sets up like a Major and nobody was as consistent in majors last year as Mr. Hanson. He started the season with a 9th and 22nd on the European Tour before heading to the PGA Tour with results of a Missed Cut, T17th and T13th. He is an absolute GIR machine and has had success here – a T4 last year. Hanson is an intriguing sleeper indeed.

The Pick:

I am going to stick with Charl Schwartzel at 14/1 this week. He didn’t play great last week and he still finished top 10. Back on a track that he has had success at in the past, I like him to get the win this week.

My sleeper is Bill Haas at 50/1. I have to take advantage of the 2011 FedEx Cup champ as such a long shot. He is playing well and has to be confident after a runner-up finish in the WGC Matchplay.
