With action underway in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, teams are beginning to approach the finish line of this NHL season.

Bet On NHL Hockey Today at One of our top online sportsbooks!!!

Here are four teams that may be worth a closer look as they navigate the road to the Stanley Cup.

Chicago Blackhawks +250

The Blackhawks would have loved to have moved the playoffs up to February when they couldn’t seem to lose a game, but they’re certainly capable of putting together another solid run.

Goaltender Corey Crawford has shown that he can carry the load in net for the Blackhawks. The Hawks haven’t allowed opponents to score on the power play, remaining perfect on the penalty kill, but they also haven’t gotten a goal from captain Jonathan Toews.

CLICK GRAB OUR BEST Expert NHL Hockey Picks for 2013 GAMBLING season!

We have yet to see the Blackhawks play their best hockey in the playoffs, but if they get on a roll like they did at the start of the season, they could cruise to their second Stanley Cup in four years.

Los Angeles Kings +500

The defending champions opened the postseason at 14/1 odds to repeat, but a decisive series win over the Blues has bettors back in their corner.

The Kings surprised many when they won the Stanley Cup a year ago as the eighth-seeded team in the West. They certainly won’t catch anyone off guard this year, but they appear to have again found that extra gear that made them so tough to beat a year ago.

Surely they’ll need to improve on their 1-3 mark on the road, but if Jonathan Quick continues to play as well as he has, the wins will come. <img src="http://affiliate.sportsinteraction.com/processing/impressions.asp?btag=a_3435b_969" alt="Sports Interaction" class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; "/>

Boston Bruins +500

Just two years removed from winning the Cup themselves, the Bruins appear to be on a similar path to the one that saw them finish the season as champions in 2012, gutting out a Game 7 win in overtime to cap off round one, and now opening the second round with back-to-back wins.

Goaltender Tuukka Rask has filled in nicely for Tim Thomas, and the B’s have taken a big step forward offensively, averaging 3.3 goals per game in the postseason.

If they can get Tyler Seguin going, they’ll be the team to beat.

Ottawa Senators +2500

After opening the postseason at 40/1 odds to win it all, the Sens haven’t been able to sway many bettors over to their side despite a first round rout of the second-seeded Canadiens.

Ottawa was able to weather a barrage of injuries during the regular season, and the team is getting healthy at the right time. Goaltender Craig Anderson had a long overdue coming out party on Sunday night when he stopped 49 of the 50 shots that came his way.

If you’re looking to back a team at long odds, you could do a lot worse than the Senators.

This lockout shortened season is nearing its end, but there’s still time for savvy bettors to cash in.

The San Jose Sharks and the Los Angeles Kings get back at it Tuesday night after a thrilling Game 3 at the Shark Tank saw the home team win yet again in the series. The home teams have won all three games so far this series and both teams are undefeated at home in the postseason this year.

Sharks Look to Hold Serve and Even Series Against Defending Champs

The Sharks have been dominant all season on home ice, going 17-2-5 in the regular season that included two wins over Los Angeles. Penalties at key stages have been the difference in the last two games – discipline looks like it will be key Tuesday night.

CLICK GRAB OUR BEST Expert NHL Hockey Picks for 2013 GAMBLING season!

The Los Angeles Kings came close to breaking the “home team streak” in Game 3 but penalties – one at the end of regulation and one in overtime were directly responsible for the Sharks gaining momentum and scoring the winner. Los Angeles did some good things in Game 3 but discipline at precisely the wrong moments was the difference.

The Kings only got one past Antti Niemi in Game 3 after scoring six in the first two games of the series. They generated an OK 27 shots but couldn’t deliver the knockout blow even when Sharks forwards Logan Couture and Martin Havlat were in the dressing room receiving treatment for various ailments.

But we know that this team doesn’t need a whole lot of scoring to succeed – Jonathan Quick can lead them to victory all by himself. Quick has stopped 101 of 106 shots in this series including 38 in Game 3 for the Kings, a .953 save percentage so far in the three games. He has a 1.49 goals against average in his last four games and is officially looking like that keeper that led the Kings to the Cup last year. <img src="http://affiliate.sportsinteraction.com/processing/impressions.asp?btag=a_3435b_969" alt="Sports Interaction" class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; "/>

The San Jose Sharks continue to be a force on home ice. They have lost just twice in regulation all year long – unbelievable! The biggest reason for the home success has been a potent power play that has been far more efficient at the Shark Tank than on the road. San Jose has scored on an NHL-best 28.4 percent of power plays at home during the regular and postseason compared to just 13.6 percent on the road. In the playoffs the Sharks are 8-for-20 on the power play at home including two goals in Game 3 and just 1-for-16 on the road, including 0-for-7 the first two games in Los Angeles. San Jose is home again Tuesday night where they have looked like world beaters all year long.

Antti Niemi was typically solid in Game 3 – nothing less should be expected on Tuesday night. He is 5-2-0 with a 2.06 GAA and .926 save percentage in his last seven games. Los Angeles will bring it in Game 4 and there is nobody the Sharks would rather have between the pipes that Mr. Niemi.

Betting Prediction

:

A few trends to consider:

• LA are 1-9 in their last 10 road games.
• Under is 8-2-2 in LA last 12 overall.
• Under is 5-1-3 in SJ last 9 vs. Pacific.
• Over is 5-1-2 in SJ last 8 home games.
• Under is 5-2-3 in SJ last 10 Tue. games.
• Home team is 12-1 in the last 13 meetings.
• LA are 10-26 in the last 36 meetings in San Jose.

The San Jose Sharks outplayed the Los Angeles Kings in Game 3 and maybe should have deserved a better fate than they received in Game 1 and 2. Truth be told, they have been the better of the two teams in the series so far by a slight margin. Jonathan Quick has been the difference maker for the Kings.

Expect Quick to be spectacular again but for his offense to let him down Tuesday and for the Sharks to eke out another close, low scoring win. How can you bet against a team that has lost twice in regulation all year? I know I can’t!

Pick: San Jose Sharks -131

For the second straight postseason series, the New York Rangers return home in a, 0-2 hole needing to win just to keep their heads above water. Their second round opponent the Boston Bruins have been clicking on all cylinders ahead of Game 3 – the Rangers are in tough against a team that boasts depth up front, a ton of talent on defense and wealth of playoff experience on the roster.

Rangers In Virtual “Must-Win” in Game 3 Versus Bruins

It is hard to imagine New York coming back in this series – but we said the same thing at this point of their series against Washington!

The Boston Bruins have already put eight goals past Henrik Lundqvist in the two games of the series – their offense has continued to shine during the playoffs.

CLICK GRAB OUR BEST Expert NHL Hockey Picks for 2013 GAMBLING season!

Brad Marchand leads the Bruins with four points on two goals and two assists in two games against the Rangers. Rookie Torey Krug has chipped in with two goals and an assist and both Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci have three assists so far in the series.

Unlike in their first round series, the Bruins are getting solid contributions from two lines – not just the Krejci, Lucic, Horton line. All said, the Bruins are plain scary on offense right now and also trot out their patented strong defense and goaltending for Game 3.

Boston will have some decisions to make ahead of Game 3. Dougie Hamilton, Torey Krug and Matt Bartkowski – all rookies have filled in admirably for injured veterans Andre Ference, Wade Redden and Dennis Seidenberg – the latter two could return to the lineup Tuesday. It doesn’t figure to matter wither way – the veterans will be a welcome addition but the youngsters have been playing more than adequately in their place. <img src="http://affiliate.sportsinteraction.com/processing/impressions.asp?btag=a_3435b_969" alt="Sports Interaction" class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; "/>

While the problems for Boston are good ones, the ones for the Rangers are deep and are threatening to take them right out of the postseason. First is the play of Henrik Lundqvist who admitted that his shoulder may be giving him problems. Before Sunday, Lundqvist hadn’t allowed five goals in 151 consecutive games, dating to a 5-2 loss at Anaheim on March 9, 2011.

He also had never yielded more than three goals in any of his 31 previous games against the Bruins – evidence that something just isn’t right with New York’s best player.

Secondly there is the power play that has chugged on at an ugly 5.6 % in the playoffs. They were 0-for-5 with seven shots on goal Sunday. They are 0-for-8 against Boston and 2-for-36 in the playoffs – not good.

Rik Nash finally scored his first goal of the playoffs and they did generate a few odd man rushed in Game 2 and as John Tortarella said – they were much better than the 5-2 score suggested. Still, they made too many mistakes, they didn’t score nearly enough and fell victim to the relentless and opportunistic Bruins yet again.

Betting Prediction

A few trends to consider:

• Over is 6-2-2 in BOS last 10 overall.
• Under is 8-3-1 in BOS last 12 vs. Atlantic.
• NYR are 2-7 in their last 9 vs. Northeast.
• Over is 5-2-3 in NYR last 10 home games.
• NYR are 52-25 in their last 77 home games.
• BOS are 3-12 in the last 15 meetings in New York.

The Rangers seem, like most teams in the NHL, have serious issues with the speed and the depth of this Boston Bruins team. Sure Boston can look bad but when they are on they look like the most difficult team in the NHL to contend with. New York has owned the Bruins in recent meetings in the Big Apple but you just can’t look past the way Boston is playing in all areas of the game.

If there is a more complete team in the East, I’d like to see them.

Pick: Boston Bruins +124

The Blackhawks were on a 9-0-2 run against the Wings in 11 games prior to Saturday’s contest. Chicago, the best team in the NHL during the regular season must now find a way to win at least one game in Detroit in order to move on. But momentum is not exactly on their side ahead of Monday night’s showdown.

Chicago didn’t look like the team that steamrolled through the regular season and the first round of the playoffs on Saturday. They were outworked and outmuscled at every turn and only managed 21 shots on goal against Jimmy Howard – their least output a Stanley Cup Playoff game since April 27, 2009. Do we give them a mulligan or is there something to the game plan that the Wings were able to execute?

CLICK GRAB OUR BEST Expert NHL Hockey Picks for 2013 GAMBLING season!

Chicago has to hope to get more out of Jonathan Toews who inexplicably has disappeared in the playoffs yet again – just three assists in seven games so far. Toews is in an eight-game playoff scoring slump that dates to last year. He has just three goals combined in three postseasons since scoring seven goals to help Chicago win the Cup in 2010.

Not sure what to make of that! Brent Seabrook is pointless in the playoffs so far and Viktor Stalberg, arguably the fastest Hawk is pointless in four but should return to the lineup after being a healthy scratch for the first two games of the series.

It’s a good thing for Patrick Kane who scored his first goal of the playoffs Saturday but continues to provide more than his share of helper. Kane now has seven points in seven games, Patrick Sharp has a six game points scoring streak and Marion Hossa continues to be dangerous with four points in his last three games.

Chicago absolutely has to be better defensively in Game 3 as well. Frequent mistakes and some uncharacteristically sloppy play in their own end were directly responsible for the four goals against Saturday. Corey Crawford had his worst game in eons in Game 2 – just a .867 save percentage. Count on a bounce back game from him.

The Wings’ youngsters are getting it done! Rookie Brendan Smith scored the winning goal Saturday and Damien Brunner scored another goal after also scoring in the series opener. Gustav Nyquist has a game winner in the playoffs and Joakim Andersson ranks among rookie scoring leaders.<img class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; src="http://banners.betdsi.com/images/nhl_dsi_250_250_0.gif?cmpid=3051_6958">

Detroit is surprisingly deep and of course they have their leaders that showed up in a big way and delivered in Game 2.

Henrik Zetterberg set up a pair of goals, including the game-winner Saturday. Zetterberg had 10 points in the final four games of the regular season, each a Detroit win, as the Red Wings secured a playoff berth on the final day. He had five points in two elimination games to help the Red Wings upset the second-seeded Ducks in seven games.

To say he’s raising the level of his game is a colossal understatement! And then there’s the best player in the NHL Pavel Datsyuk who has been quiet but is certainly due to break out against Chicago.

As surprisingly dangerous as the Wings have looked on offense they have been good defensively as well with Jimmy Howard leading the way. He only had to make 19 stops on Saturday but he has been dependable as they come the last month or so for the Wings.

He looked good Saturday, and like many Detroit players gained a ton of confidence against a team that had absolutely owned them the last couple of years.

Betting Prediction

A few trends to consider:

• Under is 7-0-1 in CHI last 8 road games.
• CHI are 39-12 in their last 51 vs. Central.
• CHI are 21-7 in their last 28 road games.
• Under is 7-2-3 in DET last 12 vs. Central.
• Under is 13-5-8 in DET last 26 overall.
• DET are 4-10 in their last 14 vs. Central.
• CHI are 8-1 in the last 9 meetings.
• Under is 17-6-3 in the last 26 meetings.

Chicago didn’t lose two straight games all year long and I can’t see them starting now. Sure the Wings brought the game to them on Saturday but the Hawks won’t be caught off guard again. Call it a “wake-up call” or call it a necessary loss – Chicago is too good to look so bad two games in a row.

The Wings were vulnerable at home this season shockingly and will have all sorts of trouble with a motivated Chicago team in Game 3.

Pick: Chicago Blackhawks -131

There is no greater sports rivalry than the only between New York and Boston but in hockey, playoff matchups between the two cities have been few and far between.
New York vs. Boston – It Almost Had to Be

Both teams enter Thursday night’s Game 1 on quite a high – the Rangers rallied from a 3-2 series deficit to defeat the Capitals and the Bruins rallies from a 4-1 deficit in Game 7 of their opening round series to defeat the Leafs.

The New York Rangers and Boston Bruins met three times during the regular season – Boston beat New York on opening night at TD Garden, 3-1 and the Rangers won the next two meetings, 4-3 in overtime on Jan. 23, and 4-3 in a shootout on Feb. 12.

CLICK GRAB OUR BEST Expert NHL Hockey Picks for 2013 GAMBLING season!

The New York Rangers walked the tightrope in Round 1 and survived thanks largely to – guess who? Henrik Lundqvist – who didn’t allow a goal in the last 120 minutes of their series with Washington. He ended the first round series with a 4-3 record with an incredible 1.65 GAA and a .947 save percentage. He stopped 62 shots in Games 6 and 7 while facing elimination. He is a true difference maker and in the playoffs where goaltending is almost the #1 determining factor, the Rangers are obviously in terrific hands.

The Rangers are also shot-blocking machines. They have three of the top seven shot blockers in the playoffs – Dan Girardi is in second place with 24, Ryan McDonagh is in fourth with 20 and Ryan Callahan is in seventh with 18. Girardi led the NHL this season with 125 blocked shots, just under three per game. Boston is going to have some issues getting pucks through and unfortunately for them – they have Henrik behind the defense to slam the door.

Offensively the Rangers struggled a tad to find the back of the net before a 5-0 win in the deciding game. They averaged 2.29 goals per game against Washington and were led by names you wouldn’t necessarily think. Derick Brassard had nine points over the final five games against the Capitals and the next best Ranger was Mark Zuccarello who had five points in the seven games. Rik Nash had just two assists in Round 1 but seemed to be getting better and Brad Richards had just one assist in the seven games. New York’s Power Play hit the skids against Washington – just 7.1% – ungood.

The Boston Bruins are perhaps the luckiest team left in the playoffs – they rallied from a three-goal deficit in the last 11 minutes of the third period and beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-4 on Patrice Bergeron’s overtime goal in Game 7. Now they need to refocus and get after it against a Rangers team that matches up well with them.<img class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; src="http://info.gtbets.eu/banners/set_12/gtbets-hockey-banner-250x250.gif" border="0">

The Bruins were actually decent offensively against the Leafs. They averaged 3.14 goals per game and 39 shots per game. David Krejci caught fire in Round 1 and had five goals and eight assists, while line mate Milan Lucic had two goals and seven assists and Nathan Horton had four goals and three assists – 29 combined points in seven games against the Leafs. Zdeno Chara had eight points and 11 Bruins scored at least once in Round 1. Boston didn’t exactly light the lamp during the regular season but they found something in Round 1.

Injuries on defense could be the difference in Game 1. Dennis Seidenberg, Andrew Ference and Wade Redden didn’t practice Wednesday. Their availability for Game 1 is in doubt, leaving open the strong possibility that rookies Matt Bartkowski, Torrey Krug and Dougie Hamilton will all play – advantage Rangers.

Tuukka Rask has been good in the playoffs and could bail this team out. He had a 2.49 GAA and .923 save percentage against the Leafs. But Rask is likely the second best keeper in this series and could show some cracks in Game 1 in the absence of some of his veteran D-Men.

Betting Prediction

A few trends to consider:

• Under is 10-3-1 in NYR last 14 Thu. games.
• NYR are 3-8 in their last 11 vs. Northeast.
• Under is 5-2-4 in NYR last 11 vs. Northeast.
• BOS are 7-1 in their last 8 Thu. games.
• Under is 8-2 in BOS last 10 vs. Atlantic.
• BOS are 2-6 in their last 8 vs. Atlantic.
• Under is 8-1-1 in the last 10 meetings in Boston.
• NYR are 7-2 in the last 9 meetings.

The Bruins lost two of the four games they played at home against the Leafs and they probably should have lost Game 7 as well. Add to that the fact that King Henrik is absolutely on top of his game and you have to like the Rangers in Game 1. Three key injuries on defense is hard to overcome – I can’t see it happening Thursday.

Pick: New York Rangers +120

The Ottawa Senators know that they will need to be much better in every aspect of the game to defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night. They have to be more disciplined, they have to convert on absolutely every chance they get and most of all they have to return to the defense-first brand of hockey that got them into the playoffs in the first place.

Senators Look to Even Series Versus Penguins Friday Night

Sound easy? It won’t be. The Penguins look to be clicking on all cylinders and now that the goaltending situation looks to have stabilized for the time being, they look nearly unstoppable.

CLICK GRAB OUR BEST Expert NHL Hockey Picks for 2013 GAMBLING season!

The Ottawa Senators fell into a fatal trap in Game 1 against the Penguins – they took penalties and paid the price just like the Islanders did in Game 1. Ottawa had the best PK in the NHL during the regular season but there seems to be no stopping Pittsburgh’s power play in the playoffs.

One goal simply isn’t going to get it done versus the best offense in the league and that’s all Ottawa was able to muster in Game 1. They generated 36 shots on goal and created their fair share of scoring chances, but specialty teams did the Senators in – they allowed a pair of power-play goals to the Penguins, then a shorthanded goal in the third period by Pascal Dupuis during a critical stretch when they could have rallied to within one.

Before the series started we knew that Craig Anderson would have to steal a game or two or three but that didn’t happen Tuesday. Anderson allowed four goals in the final three games against Montreal but Anderson allowed three goals in a little less than 39 minutes in Game 1. <img src="http://affiliate.sportsinteraction.com/processing/impressions.asp?btag=a_3435b_969" alt="Sports Interaction" class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; "/>

It appears to be all systems go for the Penguins! Evgeni Malkin (3-10-13), Jarome Iginla (2-8-10) and Dupuis (6-2-8) all extended their points streaks to seven games for the Penguins while Chris Kunitz scored his third power play goal of the postseason Tuesday. Pittsburgh power play in now clicking at a 33% rate in the postseason – incredible.

Perhaps the biggest and nicest surprise of the Penguins was the play of Tomas Vokoun, who allowed one goal on 36 shots and has allowed four goals in three starts since replacing Marc-Andre Fleury. He has a 1.28 goals-against average and .962 save percentage in three starts in the playoffs and has given the Penguins some confidence to be that freewheeling club that makes them so dangerous.

The stars seem to be aligning for the Penguins – that’s for sure!

Betting Prediction

A few trends to consider:

Under is 14-2-6 in OTT last 22 vs. Atlantic.
OTT are 6-2 in their last 8 road games.
Under is 35-14-11 in OTT last 60 overall.
Under is 8-2 in PIT last 10 vs. Northeast.
PIT are 40-12 in their last 52 home games.
PIT are 39-12 in their last 51 overall.
Over is 11-5 in the last 16 meetings.

Full marks to the Ottawa Senators for getting this far in the playoffs but at this point they appear to be totally overmatched by the Penguins. Pittsburgh is clicking 5-on-5, on the power play and now they are getting some goaltending. Pittsburgh is scary right now – it simply doesn’t look like they can be beat.

Pick: Pittsburgh Penguins -191

Wings and Blackhawks Set To Resume Storied Rivalry on Wednesday Night

Both teams looked good in their first round series – the Wings knocked off a very tough Anaheim team in seven games while the Hawks manhandled the Minnesota Wild in five. On paper, Game 1 looks like a mismatch but Chicago knows that Detroit won’t be and never has been a pushover in the postseason.

CLICK GRAB OUR BEST Expert NHL Hockey Picks for 2013 GAMBLING season!

The Chicago Blackhawks went 4-0-0 against the Detroit Red Wings during the regular season, but the lone game decided in regulation was a 7-1 rout on Easter Sunday in Detroit.

The Detroit Red Wings squeaked into the playoffs with youngsters filling the void from the departed veterans that characterized the team for decades – Nik Lidstrom and Thomas Holmstrom to name a couple. But it was the old guard that got it done offensively against Anaheim and goaltending that held them close night in and night out.

The Blackhawks are going to have to find a way to shut down the Detroit trio of Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg and Johan Franzen. Zetterberg scored three times and added five assists in the seven games against Anaheim, Datsyuk has two goals and five assists and Franzen scored three times to pace the Wings while a couple of youngsters came up big as well.

Demian Brunner had two goals and three assists and Justin Abdelkader, despite missing two games due to suspension had two goals and an assist. 10 Wings scored at least one goal in round 1 proving that this team is a whole lot deeper than advertised.

Goaltender Jimmy Howard had his moments against Anaheim but got better as the series rolled on. He is on the cusp of elite status in the NHL and posted an OK 2.74 GAA and .911 save percentage in the first round.

While Detroit’s depth was on display against Anaheim, a look at Chicago’s roster reveals one of the most impressive groups in the NHL – the President’s Trophy is further proof that there are absolutely no holes on this team. Names like Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa, Patrick Sharp, Bryan Bickell, Michal Handzus and Dave Bolland are as good as it gets – so good that Viktor Stalberg is rumored to be verging on healthy scratch status for Game 1.

The Blackhawks outscored the Wild 17-7, including an 8-1 margin over the final two nights. <img class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; src="http://info.gtbets.eu/banners/set_12/gtbets-hockey-banner-250x250.gif" border="0">

Chicago was the second best offense in the NHL during the regular season behind Pittsburgh with 149 goals and they carried that to the postseason. Patrick Sharp scored five goals for Chicago in the first round after scoring six in 28 regular-season games, Bryan Bickell added three goals and an assist, Patrick Kane had five assists and Marian Hossa scored three goals and picked up three assists against the Wild.

Jonathan Toews inexplicably struggled with just two assists in round 1 – bet on him waking up in the second round!

Although Chicago’s offense steals a lot of the headlines, their defense was the best in the NHL during the regular season. Corey Crawford was arguably the best keeper in the game during the season and he had a miniscule 1.32 GAA and incredible .950 save percentage in the five games against Minnesota.

Betting Prediction

:

A few trends to consider:

• Under is 6-1-3 in DET last 10 road games.
• Under is 7-2-1 in DET last 10 vs. Central.
• DET are 3-9 in their last 12 vs. Central.
• CHI are 41-12 in their last 53 vs. Central.
• CHI are 40-13 in their last 53 overall.
• Over is 6-2-3 in CHI last 11 home games.
• Under is 18-7-1 in the last 26 meetings.
• Road team is 14-6 in the last 20 meetings.

The Detroit Red Wings are a nice story – don’t get me wrong but they are totally overmatched against Chicago. Dave Bolland should return in Game 1 to shadow Pavel Datsyuk and if you shut him down, the Wings are virtually dead.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a sweep in this series and it all begins with a win for the rested Hawks Wednesday night.

Pick: Chicago Blackhawks -193

Battle of California in Game 1 of Western Conference Semi-Final

Each team arrived in the second round of the playoffs in different ways – the Sharks dispatched the Canucks in relatively easy fashion while the Kings had a fight on their hands against a very tough St. Louis Blues squad. Both teams enter Game 1 on four game win streaks having split four regular-season meetings, with the home team winning each time.

Three of the four games were one-goal affairs, including one that went to a shootout.

CLICK GRAB OUR BEST Expert NHL Hockey Picks for 2013 GAMBLING season!

The San Jose Sharks may have slipped under the radar a bit heading into the playoff but they sure did make some noise in the first round – sweeping the third seed Vancouver Canucks with their depth, their goaltending and a physicality that will serve them well against Los Angeles.

The Sharks enter Game 1 well rested but eager to get back on the ice. Offensively, this team underachieved a tad during the regular season but they came alive in the four games of their first round series.

Joe Pavelski and Logan Couture each registered eight points in the four games, Joe Thornton had six points, and Patrick Marleau broke a slump and had four goals and an assist while another veteran Dan Boyle averaged a point per game versus the Canucks. The power play was lethal for San Jose against Vancouver – 7-for-24 in the series.

This team was scorching hot before their week off – hopes are that rest didn`t create rust!

Goaltender Antti Niemi was nominated for the Vezina trophy last week and for good reason. He had a league-best 24 victories with a career-low 2.16 goals-against average during the regular season and won all four games versus the Canucks in the postseason with a 1.86 GAA and .937 save percentage.

Jonathan Quick may get all the headlines between the two keepers in the series but Niemi has been one of the three best goalies in the league this season and will more-than-adequately serve the Sharks.

The Los Angeles Kings looked to be in trouble after losing the first two games against St. Louis but they rattled off four straight wins to advance to the second round. Like the Sharks it was a total team effort that allowed them to succeed. Now the Kings get to actually start a series in their own building for the first time since 1992. <img class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; src="http://www.vrbmarketing.com/process/image.php?pid=1618&aid=1217" />

LA has won 10 straight games at Staples Center dating back to the regular season – advantage Kings!

Offensively the Kings were not great in the six games against St. Louis – just 12 goals in the six games. Mike Richards led the way with five assists, Anze Kopitar had a goal and three assists to break a slump that plagued him down the stretch and Jeff Carter had three of LA`s 12 goals in the series.

As we saw last year – the Kings don`t need a whole lot of offense to succeed in the playoffs!

Jonathan Quick was predictably terrific against St. Louis – allowing just 10 goals on 177 shots. a .944 save percentage and a 1.58 GAA over the six games.

The Kings have a defense-first philosophy and they are executing very well again in the postseason.

Betting Prediction:

A few trends to consider:

• Under is 5-0-3 in SJ last 8 road games.
• SJ are 6-2 in their last 8 Tue. games.
• SJ are 11-4 in their last 15 games following a win.
• Under is 6-1-2 in LA last 9 overall.
• Under is 6-1-2 in LA last 9 vs. Western Conference.
• Under is 8-2-4 in LA last 14 home games.

The Kings have been absolute money on home ice the last month – 10-0 in their last 10 games at Staples Center and they did win both games at home against San Jose during the regular season. But this is the playoffs and the Sharks are a totally different team. San Jose`s offense has woken up, the defense and goaltending has remained solid and their power play looks like the most dangerous unit in the game.

A couple of Kings penalties will be the difference Tuesday night.

Pick: San Jose Sharks +138

There is No Tomorrow For Someone – Capitals Host Rangers in Game 7

Last year it was the Rangers that won Game 7 at home to advance. If the trends in this series hold true, the Capitals should have the edge Monday night in a series in which the home team has won each and every game and has now won the last 10 post season meetings between the two clubs. One thing we do expect is a close game – the Caps have 12 goals in the series so far and the Rangers have 11 and 11 of the last 12 playoff games between the sides has been decided by one goal.

CLICK GRAB OUR BEST Expert NHL Hockey Picks for 2013 GAMBLING season!

Game 6 went as planned for the New York Rangers – they did what they needed to do to get this series back to the Nation’s Capital. They didn’t give up one power play against and Henrik Lundqvist stopped 28 shots for the shutout. But now the series moves back to Washington where the Rangers have failed to win in the postseason in five trips and into a building in which Henrik Lundqvist is 3-10 with a 2.00 goals-against average lifetime in the playoffs while losing 10 of the last 11. Lundqvist has been great in the series however – he has posted a 2.28 GAA thus far with a .927 save percentage.

Offense has been an issue for both teams so far in the series (the Rangers have averaged just 1.83 goals in the six games) but Game 7 could realistically be decided by special teams. The Rangers went 0-for-5 on the power play in Game 6 and fell to 2-for-26 in the series. Rik Nash and Brad Richard inexplicably have just one assist apiece – Derek Brassard has paced the Rangers attack with seven points in six games. The next best Ranger has just 4 points in the series.

The Capitals aren`t exactly lighting it up offensively so far either – just 2.00 goals per game thus far. Alex Ovechkin has been held off the score sheet four straight games and isn`t nearly the factor that the Capitals need him to be going into Game 7. Joel Ward has four points in his past four games but he is the only Washington forward that has been going for the Caps. <img class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; src="http://partners.commission.bz/processing/impressions.asp?btag=a_805b_673" alt="BetOnline"/>

Goaltender Braden Holtby is no stranger to Game 7s in his young career – every playoff series he`s been in has gone the distance – he`s won one game 7 and he lost the other. He has won five straight over New York at home in the playoffs since a triple overtime defeat last year and has a 0.97 GAA and .962 save percentage in six lifetime postseason games versus the Rangers on home ice. He, like Lundqvist will definitely make it hard on the opposition. He has been even better than King Henrik statistically with a 1.91 GAA and .933 save percentage.

Betting Prediction

:

A few trends to consider:
• NYR are 19-7 in their last 26 Mon. games.
• Under is 57-25-24 in NYR last 106 road games.
• Under is 36-17-6 in NYR last 59 Mon. games.
• Over is 10-1-2 in WAS last 13 Mon. games.
• WAS are 2-9 in their last 11 Mon. games.
• WAS are 16-5 in their last 21 home games.
• Under is 13-5-8 in the last 26 meetings.

The Rangers are 0-5 on the road in Game 7s in franchise history; The Capitals are 2-5 at home in Game 7s – not great records for either of these teams heading into the deciding game. But history is on the side of the home team between these two teams – the home team has won 10 straight playoff meetings between the two clubs. In all reality, the Rangers should have the edge because of Henrik Lundqvist but Braden Holtby neutralizes that advantage. The home dominance continues Monday night and the Rangers are sent packing in another typically tight, low scoring game.

Pick: Washington Capitals and the Under, as always is in play here

Nobody gave the Toronto Maple Leafs much of a chance in their Eastern Conference quarter final series with the Boston Bruins but after going down 3-1 in the series, the Leafs have rattled off two straight wins to force an improbable Game 7 between the storied rivals.

Bruins Host Leafs in Game 7

The Bruins have played a Game 7 in the playoffs a staggering six straight season and enter as arguably the better of the two teams while the Maple Leafs who qualified for the postseason for the first time since 2004 enter Game 7 as the hotter, more confident squad. Needless to say, Monday night should be interesting indeed – one of these Original Six teams is going home!

The Toronto Maple Leafs have made life absolutely miserable for the Boston Bruins in their quarter final series. They have been playing very solid defense and are doing just enough in the offensive zone to get it done. Translation – they are most deserving of a Game 7 Monday night and enter as the team with far the less to lose and with less pressure on them.

Toronto hasn’t exactly been scoring in bunches so far in the series – just 2.33 goals for per game. But they have been generating pressure and have been getting their share of chances. Tyler Bozak was a late scratch on Sunday night which should have left a gaping hole in the Leafs attack but somehow this team found a way to scratch out a victory. Phil Kessel has three goals in the series after posting that same amount in his first 22 career games against his former team – he is the difference maker that Toronto envisioned when they made the trade for him. He, and seemingly every one else wearing a Leaf on their jersey has elevated their games so far and has made Toronto look like the better team at times in the series – unbelievable.

And then there is the defense and goaltending. The Leafs have held the Bruins without a goal in the first 50 minutes of the last two games – only late goals by Boston have made these games nail-biters. James Reimer has stopped 72 of 74 shots over the past two games to help keep the Maple Leafs’ season alive. He made 29 saves Sunday night and now has a very good .932 save percentage in the series. The Leafs needed him to steal a couple of games in the series and Reimer has certainly not let them down.<img src="http://affiliate.sportsinteraction.com/processing/impressions.asp?btag=a_3435b_969" alt="Sports Interaction" class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; "/>

It wouldn`t be the Boston Bruins unless they were forced to a Game 7 in the playoffs. But a couple of trends are a tad troubling ahead of Monday night`s showdown. They have scored just one goal in each of their last two games and their home-town mojo against the Leafs is all-but gone. They have lost the last two at TD Garden. Prior to losing Game 2 and Game 5, the Bruins had won six straight home matchups with Toronto – their dominance in Boston is a thing of the past and the intimidation factor simply isn`t there ahead of Game 7.

Offensively even David Krejci couldn`t get it done Sunday night. He was held pointless for the first time in the series while Milan Lucic, his line mate score Boston`s only goal. The Patrice Bergeron line continues to struggle for Boston – there is absolutely no explanation as to why this line has gone dry. Bruins captain Zdeno Chara picked up another assist Sunday, his sixth of the series. He has seven points overall and is the only Bruin entering Monday night Hot.

Defensively Boston has been fine allowing just 2.33 goals per game. Tuukka Rask has matched James Reimer save-for-save, has a 2.28 GAA and .932 save percentage so far. His team needs to score more than one goal per game in front of him or it won`t matter how well he plays!

Betting Prediction

A few trends to consider:

• TOR are 6-2 in their last 8 Mon. games.
• BOS are 22-4 in their last 26 Mon. games.
• Under is 10-4-3 in BOS last 17 home games.
• BOS are 36-16 in their last 52 vs. Northeast.
• Over is 12-4-2 in the last 18 meetings.
• TOR are 4-12 in the last 16 meetings in Boston.

The Maple Leafs are 12-9 all-time in Game 7s while Boston is 12-11. Although Boston has been here many times in the recent past you have to think that all of the pressure is on them ahead of Game 7. Add in the fact theta their routine was thrown out of whack (they were forced to spend the night in Toronto due to mechanical issues with their plane) and it looks like the stars are aligning for the Leafs. Toronto has won their last two games at TD Garden and clearly has the momentum for Game 7. I would have never in a million years thought I’d be saying this but…

Pick: Toronto Male Leafs
