Dallas knows how important it is to win this game is after stumbling out of the gate last season with a 13-7 loss to Washington that cascaded into a disastrous 1-6 start. That was then and this is now with Jason Garrett at the helm as the new head coach and Tony Romo back as the starter at quarterback.

Romo missed the last 10 games of the 2010 season with a broken collar bone, but is completely healed and ready to go. He will have a full complement of weapons to try and put the ball in the end zone with Miles Austin, Jason Witten, and Dez Bryant as the primary receivers in the passing game and Felix Jones, Tashard Choice, and rookie DeMarco Murray anchoring the rushing attack.

Rex Ryan enters his third season as New York’s head coach and has guaranteed a Super Bowl victory after coming up short the last two seasons in the AFC Championship Game. The Jets finished the regular season in second-place in the AFC East with an overall record of 11-5 and went 5-3 straight-up at home.<img class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; src="http://www.capperspicks.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Ray-300x250.gif" alt="Cappers Picks" border="0" />

Ryan has built this team around a punishing running game and a shutdown defense, but if he is going to stay true to his Super Bowl promise, he will need Mark Sanchez to take the next step at becoming one of the better quarterbacks in the league. He did throw for 3,291 yards and 17 touchdowns last season, but completed just 54.8 percent of his passes and ended the year with a passer rating of 75.3.

One of the most intriguing matchups in this game will be on the sidelines as new Cowboy defensive coordinator Rob Ryan gets to match wits with his brother Rex. Dallas is 6-2 against the spread in its last eight games and the total has gone ‘over’ in 12 of its last 13 games. New York is 4-2 ATS in its last six games and the total has gone ‘over’ in five of its last six games.

There could be a bit of rust in Romo’s game on Sunday night, but the Cowboys keep things close enough to cover the 4.5-point spread.

Betting Trends:

Over is 12-0 in DAL last 12 games on fieldturf.
Over is 13-3 in DAL last 16 games overall.
DAL are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
Over is 18-6 in NYJ last 24 games overall.

It is a brand new season for college football, which more than likely means another year of Clemson’s talented but inconsistent, head-scratching ways.
**Open an account at WagerWeb and see for yourself how much fun and rewarding offshore betting can be!!!**

With considerably more talent than its Week One opponent, however, the Tigers have a chance to start the 2011 regular season on the right note.

Head coach Dabo Swinney probably needs to produce something this year, or his time as the clipboard holder at Clemson will become very tenuous. The one thing you have to give Clemson credit for is its ability to funnel excellent recruits through its purple and orange uniform.

One of these years, this caliber of talent has to made legitimate with a corresponding bump in the win column, and maybe an ACC title.

If Troy is going to pull an upset, it must utilize QB Corey Robinson and the lightning-and-thunder combo of RBs Shawn Southward (5”8, 180 lbs) and Montrell Conner (6”2, 220 lbs) as efficiently as possible.

The Clemson defense can whip around the field with reckless abandon, so Troy’s backfield must stay focused on sustaining long drives and keeping the chains moving. Trojans’ LT James Brown will use his round 6”4, 330-lb frame to wipe out anyone who tries to stop Southward and Conner.

Troy also has a strong “D” with lots of returning starters, though recent news tells us that Troy must replace former starting CB Kejuan Phillips, who was ruled academically ineligible. The LB corps stands out, with Xavier Lamb and Brannon Bryan.

Despite the sprinkling of veterans for the visiting side, the defense will have its hands full trying to contain Clemson RB Andre Ellington. He suffered through a toe injury in 2010, but when he’s healthy he might be the best RB in the ACC. <img class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; src="http://partner.tbaffiliate.com/GetBanner.html?id=574&affiliateID=1463&sourceID=17" alt="TopBet"/>

The Tigers also feature a great WR in DeAndre Hopkins, a solid DE in Dwayne Allen and a veteran offensive line. The only question mark on offense, in fact, is new starting QB Tajh Boyd. The offense could have some serious headaches if Boyd doesn’t continue to improve his decision-making.

Boyd is very athletic, but in a major conference like the ACC, a starting pivot must bring more than just fleet-footedness to the table. One treat to watch will be WR Sammy Watkins, who brings elite speed to the unit, not unlike Jacoby Ford of a couple seasons ago (Ford is currently a standout for the Oakland Raiders).

The Clemson defense has its usual slate of speed and size, but it could take a step back after losing four draft picks to the NFL. The unit must be carried by beefy DT Brandon Thompson, LB Quandon Christian and safety Rashard Hall.

The Troy game affords the defense its chance to create some cohesion before the toughest games later in the season crop up.

Troy is a talented Sun Belt Conference member and routinely challenges for the conference title, but an afterthought conference like the Sun Belt is out-classed by an ACC program with a proud tradition of recruiting. The spotlight is certainly on Coach Swinney to get something done with these players.

The Tigers have some bona fide challenges on their 2011 schedule, but if Clemson doesn’t start out by getting it done versus Troy, the dissatisfaction in Death Valley is only going to intensify.

There’s no doubt Clemson doesn’t always play to its capability, but it would be surprising if it can’t beat Troy in Week One.

Trends:

Over is 20-6 in TROY last 26 non-conference games.
Over is 13-5 in TROY last 18 road games.
Under is 8-1 in CLEM last 9 games overall.
CLEM are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games.

Score Prediction: Clemson 30, Troy 14

In theory, Wake Forest doesn’t have a tough act to follow in 2011. Last year, the Demon Deacons finished 3-8, good for last in the ACC Atlantic and tied with Duke for the conference’s worst overall record.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons (0-0)

They ranked 108th in the nation in total offense and 103rd in total defense.

Woof.

In theory, there’s nowhere to go but up for Jim Grobe’s squad. He’d better hope so after guiding the team to an 8-16 record the last two years. The good news for Wake Forest is that it should be one of the ACC’s more experienced teams this season; it returns 16 starters in total.

The bad news is that an already-porous defense loses two of its most important pieces; defensive end Kevin smith has been dismissed for an off-field incident and cornerback Kevin Johnson is serving a year-long academic suspension.

Syracuse Orange (0-0)

Syracuse hopes to build on a 2010 season in which it quietly contended to win the Big East, tying for the conference’s second-best record. Doug Marrone has led the Orange to a remarkable turnaround in two seasons. Last year, he got them to their first bowl game since 2004, which yielded a thrilling win over Kansas State in the first-ever Pinstripe Bowl.

Five starters return to a defense that improved by leaps and bounds last season. Syracuse quietly had the country’s sixth-ranked “D” in 2010, also ranking seventh against the pass and allowing just 19.3 points per contest (17th). Syracuse’ offense gets eight starters back but loses its bellcow runner in Delone Carter, who is currently pushing Donald Brown and Joseph Addai for carries as an Indianapolis Colt.

Don’t be surprised if Syracuse goes a bit heavier on the pass in its playcalling this season. Week 1 against the soft Wake Forest “D” seems like the ideal time to test out Ryan Nassib, who showed some potential with 19 touchdown passes versus eight interceptions last season. <img class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; src="http://info.gtbets.eu/banners/set_11/GTbets-basketball-250x250.gif">

The pick:

Syracuse isn’t a superpower by any means but the Orange are 7-2 ATS over their last nine against non-conference foes. They’ll field a far superior defense against Wake Forest’s Tanner Price, who is still young but didn’t look great as a freshman quarterback.

Nassib also shouldn’t have much trouble picking apart Wake Forest’s weak defense on his own school’s turf.

Wake Forest is 1-5 ATS over its last six as a road underdog. It looks like Week 1 may mark the start of another long season for Jim Grobe. I don’t expect this game to be too high-scoring, mainly because Wake Forest won’t score much.

The Deacs’ last five games against Big East opponents have gone UNDER the total.

Wake Forest vs Syracuse prediction: Syracuse 27, Wake Forest 10

Money Line: OFF
Spread: Syracuse -5
Over/Under: UNDER 49.5

You may not think that betting on NFL preseason games is not a great idea, but you can win some money in those games if you keep your eye out for a few key things. We all know the starters will not play all 4 quarters and, typically, the starters will play more the closer the games are to regular season ones.
**Open an account at WagerWeb and see for yourself how much fun and rewarding offshore betting can be!!!**

Because of this it can be a tad easier to bet on the last couple of preseason NFL games rather than the first 2.

You need to know that even though the games are preseason ones you should handicap them just like you would with regular season games. Things to handicap in preseason or regular season NFL games are team and player statistics, the strength and weaknesses of offenses and defenses, match ups, player injuries, and the weather.

NFL Preseason Football Gambling

Even though the starters will not play an entire NFL preseason game you still need to handicap the game as if they would. During the regular season in the NFL there are tons of games that are won or lost in the 4th quarter and this goes for preseason games as well. One thing to really look at is the team’s backup and 3rd string QB, as if there is a legit backup or backups to the starter it gives their team a better chance to win.

Rookie QB’s, no matter how highly touted they are, are a pause for concern, as it takes rookie QB’s longer to pick up an offense since there is so much to learn in the playbook.

In the preseason many players will be battling it out just to make a team and/or keep their job. Because of this a team that has a deep roster, especially at the skill positions, tend to do better in the later parts of preseason games. In the preseason you will hear the term “2-deep”, which means that a team is 2 players deep at a certain position. <img class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; src="http://www.vrbmarketing.com/process/image.php?pid=977&aid=1217" />

Look for teams that are not 2-deep, again especially at the skill positions, as the backup may struggle later in the game. Rookies and young players fighting for a job may have a hard time at their position with their lack of NFL big game experience. Who would you rather bet on a 2nd round draft pick at QB in the 2nd half or an experienced backup QB that has game experience? Yup, go with the experience, as that may be the good pick in terms of making a wager.

Head coaches are also a something to keep an eye on when betting on the NFL preseason. Find pout what coaches have good records in the preseason. You may find that some head coaches just want to check out their roster by playing everyone or ones that view the game as a real one and want to win.

Also, look to see if a head coach is in hot water, as they will want to win in the preseason to get some momentum for the regular season. Coaches on the hot seat need wins even in the preseason.

Unlike the regular season in the preseason head coaches will let the media know how much their star players, especially QB’s, RB’s, and high draft picks will play in a preseason game. You can pinpoint which team in a game will be playing their starters more, which gives them a better chance to win. Remember in the 3rd and especially 4th game in the preseason the starters will play at least the 1st half and maybe more.

Many people stay away from betting on NFL preseason games even though there are odds posted. Why do that when you can make some money betting on preseason games and you can increase your chances of winning if you follow some of the tips above.

While the games are not real and do not mean much the money you can win is and why not start off the season well by padding your NFL season bankroll?

BEST LINE OF THE WEEK

Giants (-3) over Redskins

We simply don’t know what to expect from Washington. It has John Beck penciled in to start at quarterback. If that’s true, it doesn’t matter what receivers Washington signs in free agency. Beck will struggle against an aggressive Giants pass rush.

The Redskins pass defense should also struggle against Eli Manning, Hakeem Nicks and the Giants’ aerial attack.

WORST LINE OF THE WEEK

Chargers (-7) over Vikings

I’m glad to see it come down from 9.5 – but the Chargers line still frightens me a bit. Large spreads early in a season are too unpredictable. And how many of your buddies bomb out every year with a “sure-thing” Survivor pool pick in Week 1? Crazy things happen.

The Vikings are flawed but I don’t see them getting routed.

UPSET OF THE WEEK

Panthers (+4) over Cardinals

Road game be damned. Arizona is a below-average defensive team that may seriously struggle to contain Jonathan Stewart, Cam Newton and perhaps DeAngelo Williams (who may re-sign after all) on the ground. Even if Arizona gets Kyle Orton or Kevin Kolb, the Panthers were solid against the pass a year ago.

I think they can pull the upset. <img class="alignleft" style="border:5px solid #ccc"; width:250px; height:250px; src="http://partners.commission.bz/processing/impressions.asp?btag=a_805b_824" alt="New Parlay Odds at BetOnline"/>

OVER/UNDER PICK OF THE WEEK

Raiders @ Broncos OVER 42

This feels like a steal to me. Denver had the NFL’s worst defense last season, allowing 390.8 yards of offense per game. Darren McFadden is licking his chops. On the flipside, Oakland was terrible against the run last season and could have a tough time stopping Tim Tebow and Knowshon Moreno, I wouldn’t be surprised to see two teams combine for 50-plus points.

Six of the last eight Raiders/Broncos games have gone over the total.

THREE-GAME PARLAY

Packers (-6) over Saints

A risky play for sure at six points. But, the way I see it, Green Bay is just getting started after winning the Super Bowl. It didn’t play great football until the last four or five games of the season. This team will be healthier to start 2011 and Aaron Rodgers has reportedly lost weight. So much for the Super Bowl hangover.

Bad news for the Saints, who must overcome some offseason surgeries and break in some new offensive starters.

Texans (pk) over Colts

They beat Indy by 10 in Week 1 last year and I think the gap between these two teams has closed even more. The Colts couldn’t stop Arian Foster with a torn meniscus; what will the healthy version do to them? And will Peyton Manning be ready for action after offseason neck surgery?

Jaguars (-2.5) over Titans

The Blaine Gabbert era isn’t likely to start in Week 1. The capable David Garrard should get the nod against a Tennessee “D” that ranked 29th against the pass last season. Maurice Jones-Drew averaged 121.5 rushing yards over two games against Tennessee last year.

Considering that the Titans don’t know who their starting QB will be yet, Jacksonville at home by a field goal seems pretty safe.

We want to give a better experience on CappersPicks.com/blog and we hope Disqus is a step in that direction. If you have any questions, we’ll do our best to answer them.
We wish the OLD system the best but are moving forward with DISQUS comments system.

Some of you may even be familiar with it as it’s been used by TechCrunch a GREAT tech blog.

The feature set is very similar to the old one we had, but Disqus has been around longer and had more time to work out the kinks.

As for logging in to comment, you can post as a guest, but I don’t recommend it for regular commenters since it makes you re-enter your name and email address for each comment.

I’d recommend logging in through your Facebook account.

For you impatient guys it literally only takes a click or two if you’re already signed into Facebook.

Creating a Disqus profile is super simple as well.

All you have to do is enter your email address, your username and choose a password. Disqus will then send you an email with further instructions. Login with Twitter, with Facebook, or any of the other options!

Disqus has a mobile commenting system for those of you with smartphones. Those with iPhones, Androids and Blackberry’s, please let me know if you have issues.

Thanks again for your patience and support.

2011 Indianapolis 500
Race Date: Sunday, May 29, 2011
Location: Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Indianapolis, Ind.
Pre-Race Coverage: 11AM ET
Green Flag: Noon ET
TV Coverage: ABC

The Indianapolis 500 will take place Sunday, May 29 from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at Noon ET. This year’s field is wide open as per usual but the winner will likely come from one of the common names in Indy Car Racing. Let’s take a look at some of the players and which of them should emerge victorious.

The Favorites

Dario Franchitti +350 – Indy 500: 7 starts, best start 3rd, 2 wins (2007, 2010), 27 career Indycar wins

Dario Franchitti has emerged as the oddsmakers co-favorite for the big race and rightfully so. He is a two-time winner of the Indy 500 as he won the title in 2007 and 2010 and has failed to finish outside of the Top Seven in any of his last five starts at the Big Race. This season, Franchitti has one win and has finished in the Top Four of each of the Indy Car races so far. He is in top form and boasts one of the better teams in the land.

Scott Dixon +350 – Indy 500: 8 starts, 1 pole, 1 win (2008), 25 career Indycar wins

Dixon is also a former winner of the Race but has recently taken a backseat to his own teammate Dario Franchitti. But this season it has been Helio Castroneves that has been the major thorn in his side. Dixon should be the most motivated car in the race – he would love to gain the upper hand on Franchitti and would love to rub a victory in the nose of Castroneves.

Dixon has been terrific at the Indy 500 but has really struggled so far in the Indycar series – finishing second once and finishing outside the Top 10 in the other three races. Dixon will start on the first row on Sunday but at +350, it might be best to look elsewhere.

The Other Contenders

Alex Tagliani +550

Tagliani is a true veteran of the sport and won the pole for the Big Race. Impressive indeed! But consider that he has never finished better than 10th in this race. Although the pole sitter has fared well traditionally in this race, when push comes to shove, Tagliani is likely just another chaser.

Will Power +600

Known as one of the best road course drivers on the circuit, Power would love to prove that he is equally dangerous on the Oval. If there is anyone deserving of a win at the 500 it is Power – he has won two of the four races on the IRL circuit this season and he finished second in another.

The Best Value

Helio Castroneves +1000 – Indy 500: 10 starts, 4 poles, 3 wins (2001, 2002, 2009), 25 career Indycar wins

Castroneves has had a rough start to the IRL season but if anyone can bounce back it is the veteran and Indy 500 Dominator Castroneves. He has won the race three times and has a chance to tie some legitimate legends in the sport with his fourth win at the Race. He has experience, confidence on this track and a strong motivated team on Sunday – at +1000 he`s certainly worth a look!

Tony Kanaan +2500 – Indy 500: 9 starts, 1 pole, best start 2nd, 15 career Indycar wins

Kanaan has had issues finding a ride but now that he has one, he could emerge in a race that he has traditionally run well at but has had some terrible luck. Kanaan will be looking to impress his new team – a group that has looked good in previous 500`s. Kanaan will be motivated on Sunday and could be prime for a major surprise!

The Winner: Dario Franchitti +350 looks like the man to beat on Sunday – he is on quite a role and he absolutely loves this track.

Tony Kanaan +2500 is also worth a sprinkle if you are into throwing down on a couple of racers. +2500 is something that I just can`t pass up!

The No. 21 North Carolina Tar Heels travel to Durham to face the No. 5 Duke Blue Devils in a Top 25 Atlantic Coast Conference clash on Wednesday.

The winner will walk out of Cameron Indoor Stadium atop the conference.

After finally falling at Florida State 66-61 to snap a 25-game winning streak, the Blue Devils were no longer No.1, and St. John’s handed them their second loss in Madison Square Garden just a few weeks ago. The Devils rebounded stringing together a pair of victories including a 76-52 thumping of NC State, in conference action their last time out.

The game was all Duke from the beginning, going into halftime leading 53-24. The game came down to a big separation between Duke and NC State in offensive rebounding and three pointers. Duke crushed threes, hitting a total of 21 points from beyond the arc while Nolan Smith led the Blue Devils with 20 points.

Meanwhile the Tar Heels haven’t looked too bad either, winning seven of eight ACC tilts including shelling the Seminoles in conference action 89-69 in their last contest.

The game came down to a separation between North Carolina and Florida State in three point shooting and assists. The Heels shot 40 percent from beyond the arc and spread the ball around dishing out 23 assists. Harrison Barnes finished his seventh straight double-digit point game with 17 points to go along with 10 rebounds for a double double.

If UNC has another one of those nights at Cameron, it could be lights out for Duke.

However, Duke has been good at home beating visitors by about 15 points a game in conference. Only Maryland lost by single digits. With Duke outscoring opponents by 20.1 points per game and UNC besting foes by 11.5 points, we figure to have a good one on our hands.

The Blue Devils went 2-0 against the Tar Heels last year, winning by an average margin of 21. Over four years, Duke has gone 3-5 against North Carolina, including 1-3 at home.

Matt’s Free Pick: The top two ACC offenses are in action with the Devils leading the conference with 84.7 points per game, which is 5.6 better than the Heels. The Cameron Crazies will play a factor too as they hope to propel Duke to a 13-0 start at home this season. With all that, North Carolina will have to be work hard, but I think they will come up a little short in this one.

Are you already counting the days down to Super Bowl 45. Have you bought your food?

The Dark Side Of The 2011 Super Bowl

The Big game is almost here – Super Bowl Sunday is the top at-home party event of the year. It`s time to be finalizing that guest list or figuring which artery-clogging recipe is going to be in your starting lineup for Sunday.

NEED THE BEST ODDS ONLINE FOR SUPERBOWL XLV? CLICK HERE!!!

Need a guide to the do`s and don`ts of Super Bowl Sunday?

Dave B has compiled a quick checklist of things to include and things to avoid for the Big Day.

Playing For: The Lombardi Trophy
Green Bay Packers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Date: Sunday, February 6, 6:30 p.m. ET
Venue: Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, TX
Broadcast: FOX
Packers vs. Steelers Super Bowl Betting Odds from Bodog.com
Packers: -3 (105)
Steelers: +3 (-115)
Total: 45

1. Choose your guest list wisely

This is first and foremost – it is the most important decision that you can make ahead of the Big Game. Remember, an average of 130 million people watch the Super Bowl – 40% of which are not Hardcore Football Fans like yourself. If you don`t want to be spending 4+ hours talking about ugly beards, the tacky green on the Packers uniforms or Fergie`s heroin issues, choose your guests carefully.

There will be know-it-alls, those who are more interested in pop-culture and those who are simply there to eat. Embrace all but just know that annoyances are assured on Super Bowl Sunday!

2. Purchase Sweat Pants that don`t look like sweat pants. There will be a lot of food eaten, a lot of beer drank – comfort is paramount!

3. Upstairs/Downstairs Party

Suggest to the wife that both TVs in the house be used – that way the wives and kids can be upstairs and the boys can be downstairs cursing and ogling at the latest GoDaddy.com commercial! To enjoy the game to its fullest, separation is key!

4. Food – Unfortunately, you will be judged on the quality and quantity of food at your party. Health is secondary – flavor and cholesterol are primary!

Super Bowl Sunday is the second highest food consumption day in the USA – right behind Thanksgiving. Here are some examples of the gluttony of Super Bowl Sunday.

-$55 million will be spent on food alone for the Big Day. Examples:

Tortilla Chips — $10.2 million

Light Beer — $9.2 million

Regular Beer — $8.7 million

Potato Chips — $7.8 million

Regular Cola — $7.7 million

Frozen Pizza — $7.3 million

All remaining Carb Bev — $5.5 million

Mexican Sauce — $5.3 million

Ice Cream — $4.7 million

-About 8 million pounds of guacamole (13.2 million pounds of avocado – or approximately 26 million individual avocados) and 15000 tons of chips will be eaten on SB Sunday. 4000 tons of popcorn and 12 million pounds of potato chips are also consumed.

-It is estimated that Americans will eat 90 million pounds of chicken wings, which breaks down to 450 million individual wings!

-Super Bowl Sunday is Domino’s Pizza’s biggest day of the year, selling more than 1.2 million

Pies – mostly at Half Time.

5. Have a plan for the Monday After

-Antacid sales increase by 20 percent on the Monday after the Super Bowl.

-6 percent of all working Americans will call in sick the day after the game.

There it is – pretty simple I’d say. Enjoy the game, the hangover and the first trip to the bathroom on Monday morning!

Bet On Super Bowl 45 Odds At Bookmaker.com —>

Two of the most storied teams in NFL history, the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have won six Super Bowl Championships, and the Green Bay Packers, who own 12 Championships including a trio of Super bowl titles, are set to collide in Arlington in Super Bowl XLV this Sunday. I will be reviewing some of the Super Bowl prop picks later this week, but for now we’ll focus on Super Bowl XLV odds, including the points spread, and the over/under to see if we can predict a winner.

This year’s Super Bowl 45 odds are the closest than it has been in 27 years. Online betting giant BetUs.com currently has the Steelers-Packers point spread at Green Bay -2 ½ points, down from the -3 it was a few days ago. Meanwhile, the odds-makers opened the Steelers-Packers total at 46 points, but they have since adjusted it to 44 with the Packers total at 23 and the Steelers at 21.

While both team’s offenses received a lot of attention during the year, the Packers and the Steelers possessed two of the best defenses’ in the entire NFL this season. Pittsburgh’s defense was the stingiest of the two, surrendering just 14.5 points per game, while Green Bay’s D was nearly as good, yielding just 15 points per game; good enough for second best in the NFL.

Add up the two teams’ points allowed and you come up with an average of just 29.5 points per game this season—14.5 points fewer than the current Super Bowl 45 odds total. If that’s not enough proof, both sides combined to cover the under in nearly 57 percent of their regular season games this past year.

Offensively both teams ranked amongst the best in the league in scoring for the regular season, with the Packers ranking 10th (24.3), and the Steelers putting up 23.4 points per game to rank12th.

Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers garnered a lot of attention this season, but a lot of credit has to be given to an entire Green Bay team that fought through a rash of devastating injuries of one sort or another all season long. Rodgers has been unstoppable in the playoffs, and while he had a monster season, he has been even better in the post season. Rodgers has led the Packers’ offense, scoring an average of nearly 31 points per game at home, but just 21.3 away from Lambeau.

The big question here is will the week off help a team who had to play three straight road teams to get to the Super Bowl, or will it hurt their momentum?

The Steelers’ meanwhile, who spent most of the regular season atop of the standings in the AFC, overcame the absence of franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who served a six-game suspension to start the year. However, since his return, “Big Ben” has produced the “big play” often this season, leading his team back to the Super Bowl for the third time since 2005.

There is already a buzz building surrounding this game, and as far as Super Bowl betting odds are concerned, you’ll want to get in early. Super Bowl Sunday draws more first-time bettors than any other sporting event, and because of this, the over/under is likely to change, continuing its downward trend. Why is this important? The under has covered in five of the last six Super Bowls, so getting your wager in now will lock you in at the current O/U of 44, as I expect this year’s over/under Super Bowl 45 odds to close at 42 or 42 ½ .

Furthermore, if you’re looking to cover the points spread with your wager, the best Super Bowl XLV odds can be locked in now.

Matt’s Free Prediction -Of course, we’ll see some big offensive plays from both Roethlisberger and Rodgers, but points will be hard to come by in this one. The outcome of Super Bowl XLV will surely be decided by the better defense, and in this case, the Steelers have the advantage.
