Thanksgiving has been traditionally recognized has the start of the stretch run of the NFL regular season. The field of front runners is crowded this year with 14 teams currently sporting a winning record and another six teams currently at 5-5. New England and New York (Jets) are leading the way in the AFC at 8-2 and Atlanta remains atop the NFC with the same record.

Four of the divisions have a two-team tie at the top while the lead in the other four is just one game creating the tightest playoff race in recent memory.

The following is a brief look at each matchup in Week 12 along with the current pointspread as supplied by BetUS.com.

THANKSGIVING DAY GAMES – Thursday, Nov. 25

12:30 P.M. New England (-7) at Detroit
Over/Under: 51

New England has recorded impressive wins over Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Indianapolis, but the Patriots’  season may come down to their ability to beat New York in Week 13. The Jets won the first meeting 28-14 in Week 2. Detroit is 2-8 but has scored 234 points while giving up 237.

4:15 P.M. New Orleans (-3) at Dallas
Over/Under: 50 ½

New Orleans RB Reggie Bush did not return in last week’s game against Seattle, but should be ready to go for this game. Dallas QB John Kitna has thrown six touchdowns and just one interception in his last two games.

8:20 P.M. Cincinnati at N.Y. Jets (-9)
Over/Under: 44

Cincinnati WR Terrell Owens called his team ‘terrible’ in a post season interview and after the Bengals 49-31 loss to Buffalo it is hard to argue against those statements. The cardiac Jets have won their last three on the last play of the game.

Sunday, Nov. 28

1:00 P.M. Carolina at Cleveland (-11)
Over/Under: 37 ½

Carolina is officially ‘on the clock’  as the worst team in the league this season. The level of ineptitude on offense has reached an all time low for John Fox’s Panthers. Cleveland rookie QB Colt McCoy sprained his left ankle in Sunday’s loss to Jacksonville and his status for this game is day to day.

Jacksonville at N.Y. Giants (-8 ½)
Over/Under: 45 ½

Jacksonville is 6-4 and tied with Indianapolis for first place in the AFC South with the 20th ranked offense and 27th ranked defense in the league. New York’s vaunted defense has given up a combined 60 points in its last two games against Dallas and Philadelphia.

Philadelphia (-3 ½) at Chicago
Over/Under: 42

Philadelphia second-year RB LeSean McCoy leads the team in receptions with 51. He also has 726 yards rushing on 146 carries. The Eagles lead the NFL with a +15 turnover ratio. Chicago is ranked 30th in total offense and third in total defense.

Pittsburgh (-6) at Buffalo
Over/Under: 43

Pittsburgh’s offense is ranked 21st in passing and 22nd overall. The Steelers defense is ranked fifth overall and third in points allowed. Buffalo has won two games in a row after losing its first eight. The Bills hope to have RB C.J. Spiller back for this game.

Green Bay at Atlanta (-2 ½)
Over/Under: 48

Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers has thrown nine touchdowns and just two interceptions in the Packers current four game winning streak. Atlanta QB Matt Ryan has thrown nine touchdowns and just one interception in the Falcons current four game winning streak. NFL Betting

Tampa Bay at Baltimore (-9)
Over/Under: 41

Tampa Bay is 7-3 and just one game in back of the Falcons in the NFC South with the 23rd ranked offense and the 16th ranked defense. Baltimore is 7-3 and tied with the Steelers atop the AFC North with the 12th ranked offense and the eighth ranked defense.

Tennessee at Houston
Over/Under:

Tennessee head coach Jeff Fisher has turned over the keys to the offense to free-agent rookie QB Rusty Smith with Vince Young done for the season and Kerry Collins still recovering from a leg injury. Houston’s defense has given up 114 points in its current four game losing streak.

Minnesota at Washington (-3)
Over/Under: 42

Minnesota interim head coach Leslie Frazer replaces Brad Childress, who was fired after the Vikings 31-3 loss to Green Bay dropped the team to 3-7 on the year. Washington had to put S Anderson Russell and return man Chad Simpson on the Injured Reserve list. They were most serious injuries among the dozen or so players who were knocked out of Sunday’s game against the Titans.

4:05 P.M. Kansas City (-1) at Seattle
Over/Under: 44

Kansas City leads the AFC West with a 6-4 record, but is 5-0 at home and just 1-4 on the road. Seattle leads the NFC West with a 5-5 record, and is 3-1 at home and just 2-4 on the road.

Miami at Oakland (-3)
Over/Under: 38 ½

Miami All-Pro LT Jake Long could be done for the season after dislocating his shoulder two weeks ago. The Dolphins also lost C Cory Procter for the season with a knee injury. Oakland head coach Tom Cable is sticking with Jason Campbell as his starting QB despite the Raiders 35-3 loss to Pittsburgh last week.

St. Louis at Denver (-4)
Over/Under: 45

St. Louis’s defense gave up 34 points and almost 400 yards of total offense in its 34-17 loss to Atlanta. Denver has the 10th ranked offense overall and the fourth ranked passing offense in the league, but its defense is ranked 30th in points allowed.

8:20 P.M. San Diego at Indianapolis (-3 ½)
Over/Under: 54

San Diego has once again climbed out of an early season hole with wins in its last three games to bet back to .500. Indianapolis is hoping to have RB’s Joseph Addai and Mike Hart as well as LB’s Gary Brackett and Clint Session back for this game, but all four remain day to day with nagging injuries.

Monday, Nov. 29

8:30 P.M. San Francisco (-1) at Arizona
Over/Under: 39 ½

San Francisco is 3-7 and has averaged just 13.7 points per game in its seven losses and just 16 points per game overall. Arizona has given up an average of 30.8 points per game during its current five game losing streak.
