NBA DRAFT: UP NEXT FOR UNC FOURSOME, THE NBA

After the 2008 NCAA Basketball season UNC’s Tyler Hansbrough, Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington and Danny Green all flirted with the idea of entering their names into the 2008 NBA Draft. Instead, they all decided to return and we all know the end result.

Now it’s time for their next challenge, the NBA. The Big Apple is the location for Thursday’s NBA Draft and all that remains for these four Tar Heels is where they’ll be selected.

There is little doubt that Hansbrough is an all-time Tar Heel great; however, the scouts don’t think his game translate as well to the pros. Most likely, Hansbrough will end up being a workhorse like power forward in the mold of Mark Madson. Utah at #20 would make a ton of sense.

While Hansbrough might have been UNC’s most notable player, Ty Lawson was probably their most valuable player. The 6’1” point guard has blazing speed and is NBA ready from Day 1. Selecting at #16, the 76ers will be looking for a new floor general with the likely departure of Andre Miller.Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

Wayne Ellington’s stock skyrocketed after his Most Outstanding Performance heroics for the Tournament. So much so, that the sweet shooting junior is deciding to skip his senior year as a likely 1st Round pick. With average athleticism and size, he isn’t a ‘sure thing’ to go in the first 30 picks though. Teams that shot 35% or worse from beyond the arc who are selecting after 20 include: Utah Jazz, Dallas Mavericks and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Although Danny Green will most likely be the last Tar Heel selected Thursday night, he will be a steal for whoever grabs him. He’ll most likely be selected somewhere in the 2nd Round but has an outside to sneak into the 1st Round.

Total UNC Players Drafted In the First Round:

Two UNC Players Drafted in the 1st Round: +140

Be sure to test your GM skills in the Mini-Mock Draft where you could win $150.00 for each correct prediction.
