The 49ers find themselves needing every win going forward just to qualify for the playoffs while the Skins – they have been relegated to a spoiler role once again in the NFC.
It can’t get much worse for the Washington Redskins – can it? A 27-7 blowout loss in Week 11 to the lowly Tampa Bay Buccaneers has to be rock bottom – doesn’t it? Unfortunately for the Skins – their enormous investment Robert Griffin III seems to be the biggest problem.
[dfads params=’groups=63753&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
Clearly not 100%, the Skins signal caller has regressed drastically from his rookie season. He went for 207 yards with one TD and 2 interceptions against a terrible Bucs defense – even his team mates are starting to call him out!
Griffin III can’t take all of the blame however – his O-line has been miserable – it allowed Griffin to be sacked six times against Tampa – that makes 11 times he’s hit the turf in his last two games – not a good sign when the 49ers with Aldon Smith back in the lineup is on the horizon. On paper, this looks like a mismatch with San Francisco’s defensive line having an enormous advantage over Washington’s O-line.
If the Skins can’t generate anything offensively against Minnesota or Tampa (their last two opponents) it is unfathomable to think Washington will have any success getting anything done against San Francisco’s stout defense.
The San Francisco got the win against the Giants last week but they certainly didn’t look like a juggernaut in their 16-10 win against an awful Giants team.
[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
The offense still looks out of sync but the defense is reemerging as one of the best is the game – they picked Eli Manning off five times last week and paved the way for the win.
The fact the San Francisco scored only 16 points against a team that surrendered an average of 34 points per game is alarming to say the least.
Colin Kaepernick continues to be OK – he is frequently overthrowing his receivers and has been made to look bad at various times of the season.
There is no excuse for the futility of this offense – they were handed a 35 minute time of possession advantage last week and scored just one TD.
While the offense has been sputtering for San Francisco the defense has been terrific – they have created 21 turnovers this year and with the return of Aldon Smith from suspension they are bound to generate more pressure that they have had all season long.

The Niners are in a good position here – the Skins turn the ball over far too frequently and Robert Griffin III has been sacked far too frequently to succeed.
• WAS are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games.
• Under is 10-4 in WAS last 14 games in Week 12.
• Under is 6-2 in SF last 8 home games.
• Under is 8-3 in SF last 11 vs. NFC.
• SF are 7-3 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
The 49ers are 3-0 SU and 2-0-1 ATS in their last three games against Washington – expect that trend to continue.
While I don’t love the San Francisco offense to be the difference in this game I do like the Niners defense to create some game changing turnovers.
San Francisco 49ers -8
Let’s face it folks – the Skins are a BAD team!
